Hello and welcome to the last edition of Share Yourself in 2011!

Who: Epitome of Superficiality
Fun Facts:
1. I am outrageously sanguine, I can’t stop talking and I can’t focus and I’m extremely restless. Painting my nails is like therapy for me, it calms me down (only because wet nails smudge if I move) and it forces me to be patient.
2. I really like shiny and pretty things so I’m incredibly partial to my glitter polishes, almost like a magpie.
3. I was from Singapore but I now live in Perth, Western Australia because I’m studying here! And who ever knew that nail polishes are so expensive in this land of Glitter Gals and Ozotics?!
The Look:
Colour Club Gold Glitter, Colour Club Electronica and Poshe Fast Dry Top Coat. This manicure was done for the first week of the 11-week manicure challenge! It was in honour of world PRIDE day and childhood cancer! I freehanded the french tips and I really love funky french tips.

Who: Peace Love Polish
Fun Facts:
1. I’m a vegan, and you’ll only find cruelty-free polishes on my blog, but my very first nail art attempt was spelling out “Eggs & Ham” on my nails with green polish for Dr. Seuss Day when I was in the fourth grade.
2. I teach yoga and am barefoot most of the time, so I get to enjoy the polish on my toes even after sandal season ends.
3. I can’t handle much gore, and yet love all things cheerily macabre – Edward Gorey books, Tim Burton films, Pushing Daisies, etc.
The Look:
Sugar Skulls: I used Nubar White Peony for the base, and Zoya Dove to shape the skulls. The eyes and noses are SpaRitual Reveal Yourself, and the skulls are decorated with SpaRitual Circle of Life and Enlightened Soul, and Zoya Midori and Sooki.

Who: Blog Nailed It
Fun Facts:
1. Nature: I grew up in National Parks most of my life, and as a kid, spent most of my days exploring the outdoors in Bryce Canyon Utah. It was a great place to grow up, and really shaped who I am today. I absolutely NEED to be somewhere beautiful, surrounded by nature in order to be happy. I tried San Francisco for a few months, and that literally took so much away from me. I wouldn’t take it back for the world, but it showed me how much I love the natural world.
2. Animals: I love animals. Always have, and recently, after moving to my own apartment with my boyfriend, we both got pets. I rescued a sad, scraggly little kitten named Nugget, who has grown into quite the personable thing. If there’s a loud noise, she’ll run TOWARDS it, and always greets everyone. She’s not your typical run-and-hide kinda girl. My boyfriend adopted a puppy who we’ve named Riley. She’s a handful still, but smarter than other dogs I’ve met. She’s 5 1/2 months old, and knows sit, down, wait, and leave it already. SO proud!
3. Creativity: In addition to my love for animals, I find that I’m most fully satisfied when doing something creative. Whether that’s using Photoshop, making a jewelry, or…of course…painting my nails. Somehow, when I was rounding the bend of my junior year in college, I managed to make my senior exit project into a giant craft project. I volunteered at Natural Bridges State Park (in Santa Cruz, CA) and led kids on tours of the tide pools out there. Part of those tours sometimes involved using interpretive tools, such as costumes. So for my senior project, I designed and created a giant mussel costume. Complete with a shell you could open and close.
The Look:
China Glaze’s Life Preserver and For Audrey, and Nubar’s 2010. First I painted on Life Preserver. I painted the whole nail with a coat of 2010 and let that dry. To prevent any peeling during the next step, I layered on a small amount of Essie’s Good to Go. Then I taped off a diagonal stripe on my nail and painted on some For Aubrey. That took a while to dry, but when it did, it was once again finished with Good to Go. Seems like a lot of polish, but it doesn’t feel thick, and I love the Southwestern feel you get. Think Navajo blankets and turquoise jewelry. That’s what I was going for, especially with the addition of the flecks.
