If my skin gets dry this winter, I have no one to blame but my damn self.
No really, because these three items from Lush (one new) are everything my parched itchy skin could possible desire during the cold, dry, humidity-lacking, space-heater blasting winter months.
For me, the parts that get the itchiest and driest are my calves and hands. I think my calves get it the worst because of my 24/7 space heater at work and all the tights, socks and boots I always wear. My hands simply because the air is drier and I wash my hands a lot more than normal (which is already a lot) since it’s cold and flu season.
This is my first ever experience with Lush Dream Cream, Crème Anglaise, and the new Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner and I like all three!
Dream Cream has been around awhile and it’s a body lotion. It is in fact Lush’s #1 selling product!
Dream Cream is a somewhat lightweight lotion with Chamomile, lavender and oat milk. All these serve to soothe parched itchy skin. It’s also infused with rose and lavender essential oils.
The scent is somewhat earthy and not overwhelmingly scented. I don’t love it, but I also don’t mind it.
It does feel a little bit greasy for a few minutes after you apply it, but that goes away after it sinks in a bit.
Crème Anglaise is hand and body lotion that is most definitely on the expensive side, but really lovely.
In this lotion you will find sweet orange oil, natural butters blended into an “almond infusion”, Saffron (the world’s most expensive spice) and Shea butter. It’s rich, it’s creamy, it’s thick and it smells really great.
The scent is very hard to put my finger on. Kind of like rose and almond oil and vanilla all mixed together. It’s not subtle though and it does last long after you’ve rubbed in it. So if you like it, that’s a good thing!
The consistency is much richer than Dream Cream, which for me is great for my super parched calves. I don’t use it on my hands actually because I sleep with my hands close to my face and the scent is a little strong that close-up, all night. For hands I use Smitten (review coming soon).
Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner is a new product and not actually a lotion. It’s basically a hair conditioner, but for your skin!
Inside this you will find cocoa butter, cupuacu butter, almond oil and Argan oils. The scent is a fairly strong rose scent, which I actually like, but may not be for everyone.
Using it was definitely a little odd.
You take your normal shower then at the end, apply this stuff all over. Then you rinse it off and pat yourself dry. It’s a weird thing to slather what feels like lotion all over, then wash it off. But it definitely does leave your skin soft.
But when it’s wet, it also kind of feels more like a greasy residue to me than a lotion that actually sank into my skin. Once you pat off the dampness and your skin is dry, it feels softer and less greasy.
An issue I had with it though was it left a slippery somewhat greasy residue all over my tub which lasted a couple showers.
I do like it, and it did leave my skin soft, but I think I prefer using an actual lotion when I get out of the shower rather than this, personally.
