Hello!

I hope your Christmas was amazing and filled with all sorts of cool things! What did you get??

My fav gifts this year included a gorgeous stainless steel watch with black face to add to my ever growing collection, a Union Jack iPhone cover, a cushioned harness-style strap for my camera, and an e-Pad portable laptop desk for the couch. icon smile NYX Advanced Salon Formula Nail Polish in Lux Green and Gold Swatches & Review

Today is a quickie post because I am writing this at 10:00 pm on Christmas evening after stuffing my face with prime rib, potatoes au gratin, roasted asparagus and my first time ever made dark chocolate fudge. Oh what’s that you say? You want the recipe? SO easy!

  • 1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips (3 cups)
  • 1 can of sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1 pinch of sea salt

All you do is mix the chocolate chips and condensed milk in a pan on low heat and stir, stir, stir until it’s all melted together.

Once mixed, add the vanilla and a teaspoon of vanilla, stir and remove from burner. Pour into an aluminum foil wrapped square pan. Chill in fridge until it’s set, cut into squares and serve! It makes an incredibly decadent, creamy and smooth fudge!

But enough about chocolate, let’s talk NYX Advanced Salon Nail Polish shall we?

Lux Green

Lux Green is a really gorgeous “Hooker’s Green” creme. Yes, there is something called Hooker’s Green! The base seems on the grey side and it’s muted not bright. A really gorgeous shade of green and great formula in just two coats.

Gold

Gold. While the name may be completely uninspired, the color is gorgeous. This gold is a deep, coppery gold with loads of shimmer. It’s metallic and very slightly streaky, but not bad. Great coverage in two coats. SO glowy!

Availability: NYX or Cherry Culture.

Pricing: $3.60-4.00.

What do we think about Lux Green and Gold?

  • Wow! i do like that green but the *gold* looks very similar to some of the metalic bronzes put out by milani cosmetics over the years. Still love it tho. lol

  • Gold reminds me a little of OPI Rising Star. Thank you for the fudge recipe! I have all the ingredients to make it, and I want to make egg custard tonight. SO much food in this house! LOL.

Like both of those! The gold is nowhere near my usual color range, but I kinda dig it!

  • Love the coppery tone to the gold. And I was entirely unaware of the existence of “Hooker’s green.” You learn something new every day.

  • Probably the last thing I need right now is more fattening goodies, but that fudge looks sooooo good! Gold’s not too shabby either!

I really LOVE the green. Never been much of a fan of golds though so this one doesn’t interest me either.

Lux Green is a polish I must have. The Gold looks like something I already own. Sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas. Santa was good to you!

  • I’ve never even thought of buying NYX polishes. I’ll have to see what I can find locally. These look pretty on you.

  • I’ve never tried making fudge before. This recipes seems easy enough, I’ll give it a try! I don’t know how I feel about Lux Green, for some reason any green creme seems to get foggy while on my nails… I don’t know why! Shimmers and stuff are fine. Gold seems like my kind of gold. No pale golds here, I don’t want old lady hands! XD

  • Both are pretty colors, but not really unique. The Lux Green actually looks similar to Orly’s Lucky Duck. The bronze isn’t that unique, but it did catch my eye more since I don’t have a bronze that dark.

  • Hmm, I’ve never given NYC polishes a chance, partially because of their cheap looking packaging. The new bottles made me look twice, and I really like the green!
