LCN CrocoFever Nail Polish Special Effect Swatches & Review

LCN Croco Top LCN CrocoFever Nail Polish Special Effect Swatches & Review

Hot on the heels of “crackle” polish comes something a little similar but WAY cooler! Croco Top!

LCN’s CrocoFever Croco Top nail polishes are a new special effect top coat that create a crackled effect, but in a reptilian skin pattern. They are definitely different than regular crackle in the way they break up and create the shape. I for one really love these because I am totally into the idea of wearing different textures on my nails. Nail art can be tricky and require artistic skill (which I am lacking) but special effect top coats like this are super easy to use.

You can buy CrocoFever in a starter set, which includes all four of the Croco Top colors as well as a base coat and top coat, or you can get the colors separately. The bottles are small, same size as their magnetic ones (8 ml).

The directions are fairly straighforward, but be sure to follow them completely to get the best effect.

Instructions:

  • Apply a base coat.
  • Apply one or two coats of your regular nail color .
  • Wait 4 minutes. No less no more! Nail polish needs to be slightly tacky for it to work. It won’t work if it’s too wet or dry.
  • Apply the Croco Top in quick, even strokes over your nail color. If you do thinner coats you will get a smaller reptilian effect, if you do thicker it will be larger.
  • The effect will take a minute or two to start working then will be complete in 5 minutes.
  • Apply a top coat.

I really love the way these turned out, much more than crackle. Now if someone would come out with some kind of snakeskin texture you could apply this easily!

Availability: LCN’s website.

Pricing: $53.90 for the starter set or $9.90 each.

What do you think about CrocoFever? Too much like crackle or different enough for you?

-Kelly

  • I agree this is prettier than crackle finishes! However, there are times with my crackle polish that I get a similar effect. I do like the colours here, particularly the brown and ruby, so I may get one of them. Thanks for sharing these!

Interesting. But no I will not purchase another crackle at that price.

  • These look like the original Cover Girl crackle polish. I like it more than the more chunky, broken up ones of late, but still – no more crackle! I’ve had enough!

  • This is so much cooler than crackle! That brown is just goooorgeous.

  • I also prefer this to other shatters. I think other companies are doing this as well, like Barry M.

  • I like the red over silver best, but I think it’s close enough to crackle that I’d skip it but I can’t get it here so it doesn’t matter. Lol TFS!

  • I think that Barry M has a line of crackle that does this as well; either way I think it’s a neat effect. Croco Eyes is my favorites of the bunch, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a brown before and it makes me think of a giraffe instead of a crocodile. ^_^

    • Hi D’Anna,

It does look giraffe-like! If I did it over an orange it would look even more so :)

  • meh, I am so bored with this trend. If it cracks in any kind of way I am no longer interested LOL.

These look exactly like how the BYS crack polish looks on me, so I really don’t need them even if I wanted them!

I absolutely love the color combo of Croco Eyes over In Focus and Ruby Forever over Forever Yours, besides that however I’ll pass. It’s a cute idea but it’s similar enough to regular crackle that I don’t feel I need it.

  • This crackle pattern is so much more interesting than the regular kind. I love it! It’s way more edgy.

  • This looks quite like crackle but different enough to be interesting. Strangely enough, I liked Rescue Red best. But maybe I’ll wait to see if it’ll catch on and probably go with a cheaper alternative. :)

I’m not much of a crackle wearer either, but these make a comparatively interesting texture! I’m crossing my fingers and waiting for a crackle-type polish that makes zebra stripes…

I never got into the crackles, but these are more subtle. Not only are they cool, but pretty also. I like the red over the silver best.

  • Kleancolor crackle polishes have this effect too.

It’s way prettier than the crackles that are out there.
But I’ll stick to Kleancolor’s crackles. WAAAYYY cheaper!

The only downside to both polishes is that wait time between letting your base polish dry and when you put the crackle polish. If you get it wrong, it won’t work.

Not really a crackle fan anymore (only bought one bottle of it from china glaze in black and that was enough). I do think the red over the teal looks cool though. And these are a tad different but still not enough for me to want to buy one. Plus, 9.90 for a crackle :/ I paid like 3 or 4 with my sally’s card for the CG one.

Uhhh, these look EXACTLY like the Kleancolor crackles, which I picked up at my local indie beauty supply for around $2 apiece several months ago.

    I’ll pass.

  • This is nothing really new, it’s just like the old CG crackles and those other no name crackles that started surfacing before everyone and their mom started to release the ‘new’ kind of crackles.

That being said I really don’t like this look! D:

  • When I saw these I went NUTS and bought all 4 polishes. But there is a much higher “learning curve” with application IMO than typical shatters. I’ve swatched many trials and errors! But when it comes out right, it is awesome!

I LOVE the colors you paired them with–esp. the black and pink sparkle! I just wish the bottles were bigger : /

One of these days I’ll get brave enough to actually do it on my hands LOL

Besides me, you are the only person I’ve seen review these! I’m surprised they are showing up more often. Way classier than shatter (not that I’m against shatter). Totally appropriate for work.
