Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner Swatches & Review

Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eyeliner

This might amaze you but I have hardly ever tried anything from Bobbi Brown!

In fact the only things I have tried are her under-eye moisturizer (which is great) and her pink concealer (which is my go-to pink concealer). Other than that, I am a Bobbi Brown “virgin”.

I was at Bloomingdales getting my brows done at the Benefit Brow Bar, and while I was there I wanted to try out the Clinique Gel Liner I have heard so much about. Well they were out of the black and I happened to tweet that. A couple people tweeted back and mentioned I should try the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliners so I headed over to the counter and took a peek.

I was kind of mesmerized by what I saw. There were a lot of really nice looking shades and some other items I was really interested in. I settled for just getting two of the liners though in Black Ink and Denim Ink. For now. 😉

Black Ink is a jet black color.
Denim Ink is a navy blue with light blue shimmer.

Both felt super creamy and had really nice pigmentation. I have seen blacks deeper than this one, but it definitely does the job and is pretty black! Denim Ink is a serious stunner though, I love this color.

As far as application, it’s easy-as-pie. They are creamy and glide on smoothly with no tugging so no issues there. They set quickly (they are waterproof) but not so fast you don’t have a couple minutes to play around and get them right.

One thing I did notice when I did a slight wing the first time with the black was it did smudge a little on the outer corner. Because I have hooded eyelids sometimes a little liner goes underneath my eyelid and if it’s not completely dry, it may smudge.  The next time I used it that didn’t happen because I let it set for a minute before moving my eyeballs around, if you know what I mean. 😉

Availability: Bobbi Brown, Sephora, department stores.

Pricing: $21.00 for 0.1 oz.

Have you tried these liners yet?

Wow, the Denim Ink looks awesome but 21 dollars? :/ ouch! Have you tried essence gel eyeliner? I have it in black and purple and it’s awesome and only 3.49 at Ulta. I wish they’d do more colors and have a store on their official website because Ulta doesn’t carry all the products.

      Hi Logan,

I haven’t tried those but heard about them. I wish I had an Ulta closer to me!

You could order online. They usually have coupons and such on their site.

I have two gel liners by Bobbi Brown. I never use them because of your smudging issue. I have the same issue. For me the smudge factor is a deal breaker. I’m mad at myself for purchasing two at the same time (and then forgetting to return the one I have not used).

      Hi Styrch,

That sucks but I am glad I’m not alone (hee hee). What gel liner do you prefer?

I’m still a MAC fluidline fan, but mostly for the depth and richness of color than anything else.

I have 3 & love them. $21??? I should be so lucky, I’m sure they are £20 in the UK :$

I have Black Ink and I love it so much! I want to get more colors, but they’re so darn pricey. I’m waiting for a magazine credit so I can get the Pro discount with this company. :)

Ooh I never picked these up because of the reviews that said that it smudged (hardcore oily lids) and that they dry out within a few months. :( It’s okay though because I use an asian brand which is super deep black, doesn’t smudge on me, and super creamy! Last one I had lasted me a little less than a year too. Depending if you live in an area with more of an Asian community it’s might be available locally but if not you can get it online:

You should try it, I’m curious what a beauty blogger’s opinion on it would be! :)

I have these two plus Forest Shimmer. I think they’re worth the price. I also love the Ultra Fine Eyeliner Brush. Makes application much easier. Wish they weren’t so expensive. I’d love to own all of the shades.

I have this eyeliner in sepia ink. I use it really close to my lashes for a natural look and I like it. I haven’t yet tried winging it out, maybe that’s why it smudged for you?

Woah that Denim Ink is amazeballs. I’m bummed at that price tag though.

Thanks so much for reviewing these. I was an eyeliner virgin like you and thought I’d give them a go. They’re so easy to use and the colours were true (I used Black & Graphite {grey}). They stay on all day and look really great. Love ’em.

I have several of her gel eyeliners, and have never had a problem. If I’m not mistaken, I think Bobbi (Brown) invented the long wearing gel eyeliner:

I also have hooded lids, unfortunately, and may consider surgery at some point in time. Her brush for the eyeliner works like a charm.
