Tarte Smolder Eyes Limited Edition Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner Collection for Holiday 2011 Swatches & Review

Tarte has some new limited edition holiday items out and one of them is available on Sephora and Tarte’s website. It’s the Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner Collection.
This set includes six of their really cool SmolderEYES liners. These liners come in a pencil shape and on one end you have the liner and the other a smudge tip. It also comes with a sharpener for use with these.
The colors included are:
- Golden Beige
- Moss
- Violet
- Espresso
- Smoke
- Silver Black
These can be used as smudged out liner or eyeshadow or a colored base for a powdered eyeshadow. Versatility rocks!
More fun facts!

Golden Beige, Moss, Violet, Espresso, Smoke, Silver Black
As you can see, the colors are really vivid and very pigmented. One swipe gets you loads of payoff.
They feel very creamy going on but do set relatively fast, so if you want to smudge them out, work a little quickly!
I don’t even know if I can pick my favorites ones, I really truly love them all. But Violet really stands out to me because it’s very intense and I love the purple shimmer in it. I also love Espresso and Silver Black. And Moss.
Overall:
If you like pencil type shadow liners and are looking for a great set, these may do the trick! Remember that they are waterproof so they set fast and really stay on. They do come off nicely without too much hassle with an oil based remover or something like MAC Pro Eye Makeup Remover.
Availability: Tarte and Sephora.
Pricing: $39.00.
Is this something you would be interested in for yourself or as a holiday gift?

Not a bad price point for those pencils AND a sharpener. And ohmigoodness, Violet is just stunning. I wonder how it’ll do as a base on lids as oily as mine. There’s only one way to find out…

The green and purple are my favourites from the bunch. Hehe, no surprise there, right?

Hi ABC,
Sorry I meant available on QVC and Tarte not Sephora. The post was updated.
Ww, they are so pigmented! Loving Moss and Violet! <3

That is some awesome color pay off! But more than the colors, I’m more intrigued by the ingredients that these come with. Amazonian clay in an eyeliner? Very interesting. Or is Tarte trying to put Amazonian clay in everything after the blushes came out as such a hit?

So…is this a QVC exclusive, or is it available at Sephora as well?
The colors look amazing and I would love to get my hands on this set! Thanks for your swatches!
Hi Allison,
Sorry I meant QVC and Tarte not Sephora.
I see it on the Sephora website (http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P296607&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=5648).
Hi Katherine,
Thanks! The info Tarte sent me said it was a QVC exclusive, then I saw it on Tarte’s site, but I guess also now Sephora! Maybe QVC “exclusive” means “also everywhere else”, haha.
Love these. They’re on my x-mas wish list and I so hope Santa brings them, hahaha!

Those look lovely!
But . . . . I have to call shennanigans on that ‘forumulated without’ list. Formulated without sodium laureth sulfate!? So is every other eyeliner on the planet! SLS is a surfactant and sudsing agent, and I’m fairly certain it’s NOT eye-safe. Not to mention that a SLS-containing eyeliner would just wash itself off at the first sign of water. What a ridiculous claim that is! Stuff like this and their 6000% claim really put me off Tarte as a brand, honestly.
I also laughed the first time I read about their LipSurgence Natural Lip Tint 6000% claim. I mean, really?!

I love them all.

I have a couple of these in other shades from kits off QVC. You have to be good with the chubby liners I found to use these as a full eye liner. But their stay power is great & they can be used as an all over liner/shadow too. I am really impressed with the stay power of almost everything from Tarte’s Amazonian Clay line. It’s been a huge hit with me.
I’ve gotten a few of these from QVC. They are fantastic. If I didn’t have so many liners I’d buy them. Moss is my favorite. Violet is pretty fantastic also.
Ooh, these are gorgeous! I haven’t used Tarte before, even though I spend more than my fair share of time (and money!) shopping at Sephora… I may have to give them a try!
