MAC Glitter and Ice Collection for Holiday 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review
MAC Glitter and Ice is just one of the holiday collections MAC is putting out this year. It’s a virtual plethora of wintery goodies!
Glitter and Ice is a 34 piece collection filled with Paint Pots, Mineralize Eye Shadows, Beauty Powders, Nail Lacquers, Lipsticks, Dazzleglasses, Technakohl Eye Liners and more.
This collection is inspired by something I am very familiar with. Ice skating! In fact, the model in the promo pictures for it is Johnny Weir. I was an AVID ice skater for years when I was younger and in fact took classes 5 days a week for hours on end with three different instructors. At the time I really had planned on going to the Olympics. Then I hit thirteen years old and lost interest in it. Too bad because I was really good, if I do say so myself.

There are six Mineralize Eye Shadows in this collection. I’m a huge fan of them, they always seem so soft and incredibly pigmented, and these are gorgeous as well.
Snow Season is a pale pink/taupe.
Hold That Pose! is a pale greyish mauve.

Let’s Skate!, For Effect, Practice Makes Perfect, Seasonally Spicy
Let’s Skate! is an icy pale pink with golden shimmer. Super pretty color, but light.
For Effect is a greyish black with multi-colored shimmer. Gorgeous and pigmented.
Practice Makes Perfect is a medium teal blue with slight shimmer.
Seasonally Spicy is a chocolate brown with shimmer.
I really liked both the Paint Pots and the liners. Great pigmentation from everything I swatched!
Nail Lacquer
Festive Finery
Festive Finery is a medium greyish violet creme. It’s a nice deep color, doesn’t look too grey or purple, but I don’t think it’s that unique. The formula was decent, but a little sheer. I used three coats for complete coverage.
Get Noticed!
Get Noticed is a bright blue-based red creme. It’s shiny and the formula was good. I only used two coats, but again I have a million reds like this already.

Eloquent Air, Such Flare!, She-zam, Love Alert
Eloquent Air is a very light silver/white. It’s a glaze finish, so it’s pretty sheer.
Such Flare! is a bright blue-based red matte. Gorgeous.
She-zam is a silver gloss with silver and pink shimmer. I kind of love this color even though it’s sheer. SO shimmery!
Love Alert is a raspberry color with red shimmer.
I know a lot of people don’t like how thick and sticky Dazzleglasses are, but I don’t mind it as much if the color is one I like.

Overall:
I actually really liked nearly everything I saw from this collection, which kind of surprises me. My favorites are the Paint Pots, Mineralize Eye Shadows and Technakohl Liners. I also really liked the Such Flare! Lipstick and the Eloquent Air Dazzleglass. The Nail Lacquers were my least favorite thing here because I don’t think they are unique.

Gah, I was so sure I made the right decision in skipping this collection but I love everything you swatched. That red lipstick is to die for on you! I’ve always thought I was too pale for bold lip colors, but you’re helping to convince me otherwise!

I had the exact opposite experience. I thought I was going to buy just about everything from this collection, but I’ve skipped it all apart from the duo-fibre brushes and the glitter nail polish. To me it was a very disappointing collection.

I LOVE the white lipstick tubes. And that ONE! It is SILVER! Also that deep teal liner matches my sofa (and my duvet, and a whole bunch of other things in here….YES TO TEAL). I haven’t bought any MAC stuff in ages, but I seriously am going to go buy these *rightnow*. Thanks so much for swatching!
I like the Practice Makes Perfect Liner, the Such Flare! lipstick, and the She-zam gloss.
It’s good for my bottom line, but I was bummed the polishes weren’t more interesting because I really like the packaging on this collection (I enjoy looking at, but do not care to wear makeup). Oh well, it’s not like I have trouble finding other polishes to spend my money on!

Such Flare! looks AMAZING on you!! She-Zam is also quite interesting. A lot of the pieces in this collection interest me, but I don’t know if I want to shell out for any of them! For now, I’m not letting myself buy anything unless I LOVE it! xP

So while ordering the silver lipstick last night (the white packaging, I can’t get over it – it’s like iMakeup), I realized Bloomindales’ website could not possibly be any more irritating. It is staggeringly slow and inconvenient. BUT! They also had a (new, I guess) YSL Golden Gloss holiday trio, and my first thought was “omg is Kelly going to swatch these? Can I POSSIBLY buy them without seeing pics on VV first?” So I bought them, even though the product photos on Bloomindales looked like a compleeeeetely different color range than the pic on YSL’s site.
I love Johnny Weir but nothing from this collection really grabs me which is good because I’m on a strict budget !!

I’m a Dazzleglass fan. They’re usually so lovely. Very tempted by all these collections. I haven’t bought any MAC in a long time. Love the mineralized shadows. Really pretty. The polishes are as you say nothing unique.
I picked up all 3 paint pots and love them! I really wasn’t impressed with the Technakohls though, I found them dry and hard to work with.

That red lipstick is gorgeous…but I feel guilty buying ANOTHER red, LOL. I just got Runaway Red with the previous MAC collection…do you think they compare?
I like this collection much more than the other Mac collections you’ve posted recently (I’m reading them in backwards order!). I really love the teal eyeliner and the silver lip stick. Gorgeous!
