MAC Dazzlesphere! Holiday 2011 Collection Swatches, Photos & Review

MAC Dazzlesphere for holiday 2011 is a collection of mini kits packed in these super cool clear “ornaments”.
There are three mini gloss kits, one mini nail lacquer kit and three crushed pigment kits. The only ones not mini sized are the crushed pigments.

I think these are a really cute way to package a holiday item, especially if you are giving it as a gift. You just twist the clear plastic part and it opens to reveal the goodies inside.

I am a big fan of the Crushed Pigments because they are incredibly pigmented and amazing. I cannot even imagine a reason anyone wouldn’t love them! There are three sets of these ornaments including Smoky Blue, Plum and Smoky Berry, which is what I have.
Pearl is a pale silvery pink.
Rose Light is a medium rose pink.
Spicy Smoke is a gorgeous cranberry color.
Roasted Chestnut is a dark chocolate brown with gold and green shimmer.
These are all soft and incredibly saturated and I love them! My favs are Spicy Smoke and Roasted Chestnut.

Nail Varnish

Dark Angel, Mistletoe, Style Tip, Much Adored

Much Adored, Style Tip, Mistletoe, Dark Angel
The nail varnishes are minis and there is just the one ornament set that comes with these four colors. Of course the one that immediately jumped out as me was the green called Mistletoe.
Much Adored is a pale shimmery pinkish white with a pretty pearl shimmer. Sadly, this looks much better with the flash on it than in real life.
Style Tip is a nude creme. Not much to say, boring and pretty blah if you ask me.
Mistletoe is a shimmery green metallic with heavy gold shimmer. This is a pretty nice green, if not a little streaky.
Dark Angel is a dark purple creme. My bottle is labeled as a frost but clearly it’s not.
Overall:
My favorite thing here is definitely the Crushed Pigments. I think those are outstanding and well worth buying. I would skip the Nail Varnish though since none of the colors are that unique and mini bottles are kind of just “eh”.
Availability: Now.
Pricing: Crushed Pigments ($32.50), Nail Varnish ($25.50).
What do you think about Dazzlesphere!?

hey great post
i was jw if u used the pigments wet or dry?
Hi michelle,
Thx! They are dry.
The Mistletoe color is very pretty, though from my monitor it looks a lot like Immortal Gold. What’s your call?

Hi D’Anna,
It’s actually a lot more green and less gold than Immortal Gold is.
Is it more Butter London Wallis? I’m sorry to keep bugging you. ^__^

No bother! The color is more similar to Wallis but still this is more gold, less green I think. Also this one feels warmer. As far as finish they are different. Wallis has a lot more shimmer and no metallic feel while this is definitely metallic.
Haha, one of my mini MAC lacquers from last year’s holiday collection is labeled as a frost when it’s so very, very obviously a cream. Silly MAC.
these are great gift sets!!!

I have just recently found you and I love your blog! Just wanted you to know that, lol.
But anywho – I am def getting those pigments. I am just starting to use MAC (could never convince myself to just do it but thanks to CCOs, it makes it easier) and every pigment I have seen swatched is just gorgeous! Thanks for sharing these!

I like Spicy Smoke and Roasted Chestnut.
The pigments are beautiful. Very tempting! Polishes are okay.
Nice collection but I really hate the mini bottles of lacquer! It seems like you use them once and they are gone.

Mistletoe looks exactly like wallis by Butter London
Hi Kelly,
Actually it doesn’t in person. Different green and much different finish.
Do you know of a dupe or a polish that is similar to the Style Tip polish? I love it, but shelling out for the set seems silly for such a standard color.
