Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers Nail Color for Halloween 2011

Fantasy Makers Halloween 2011 Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers Nail Color for Halloween 2011

Hello!

Halloween is ‘nigh, what are you planning on wearing on your nails?

Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers Nail Color collection this year is pretty awesome I think. I found three more colors I wanted to check out recently at Walgreens.

Without further ado…

Fantasy Makers Halloween 2011 2 Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers Nail Color for Halloween 2011
Creepy Pumpkin, Purple Potion, Glow in the Dark

Fantasy Makers Creepy Pumpkin Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers Nail Color for Halloween 2011
Creepy Pumpkin

Creepy Pumpkin is a orange jelly with orange glitter. It’s utterly amazing to stare at but a huge PITA the apply! It was super thick and really hard to work with. But I kind of feel like it was worth it because it’s so shiny and sparkly. I did use three coats but you can still see my nail line a little bit.

Fantasy Makers Purple Potion Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers Nail Color for Halloween 2011
Purple Potion

Purple Potion is a black base with purple glitter. Vampy, dark, shimmery and cool. This was much easier to apply than Creepy Pumpkin and I only needed two coats.

Fantasy Makers Glow in the Dark Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers Nail Color for Halloween 2011
Glow in the Dark

Well this was interesting! I never realized how damn hard it is to take a decent photo with a glow in the dark product. Took forever, I tried with two cameras, and I only wound up with this. But you get the idea. You paint on three coats and it basically looks like a slightly yellowish clear polish. Hold your hand up to a light for 30 seconds or so, turn off the lights and BAM, it glows.

Availability: Walgreens

Pricing: $1.99

Loving any of these for Halloween?

  • That glow in the dark polish looks intriguing, but i don’t think I want to incriminate myself by letting people know where my hands go in the dark. :P

    Purple Potion is awesome.

  • Purple Potion looks just like another Wet N Wild polish Night Prowl. I wonder how similar they actually are…

I’m dying to get Purple Potion and Creepy Pumpkin, but I haven’t found them anywhere!! I’m going to keep looking. Creepy Pumpkin is really cool and different!

  • Yeah, it’s so hard to take glow-in-the-dark photos! I’ve tried, and mine come out really blurry no matter what setting I’ve put my camera on. If anyone has tips, please share! (I’ve seen some photos that are super sharp, and I can’t’ figure out how they did that…well, unless it was a realllly great Photoshop job!)

    • My advice would be don’t shake or move AT ALL when taking the photo!!! Which is very hard to do since the shutter is going slower in the dark and the tiniest movement will mess it up. A tripod is the best solution but even at that the hand you are taking a picture of can not move one tiny bit either! I managed to get one decent pic when taking a picture of my glow-in-the-dark ghosts without a tripod: http://xoxosnowflake.blogspot.com/2011/10/ghostly-night.html Oh and I just used the auto setting on my camera!

  • I wonder what Glow in the Dark would like in combination with some other color? If it’s a slightly yellowish clear polish, could you try it over Creepy Pumpkin, for example? It maybe wouldn’t change the original appearance of Creepy Pumpkin, but would be a surprise in the dark?

Problem with this is that you have to put several of GITD polish on before it glows well. If you want to find matching colours, try looking at some place like Claire’s or Ardene.

I read a review of the China Glaze (I think) Halloween nail polishes, and the consensus seemed to be that you can paint the GITD polish over other colors, but it does leave a kind of milky, hazy cast over the polish. I’m guessing that GITD probably works best over a creme polish, and that you’d lose the spectacularity of any shimmer or glitter underneath.

I picked.up Creepy Pumpkin and I didn’t have any application issues, but it.did peel off in whole sheets :( I might go back for one of the blacks w glitter because I don’t want my coffin to be lonely ;)

  • I picked these up at one of my local drugstores– I couldn’t resist the cute bottles! I wish the formula on Creepy Pumpkin was better, because I think the end product is gorgeous and I love the color. Purple Potion is great. Great color and a much better formula. Haven’t tried the glow in the dark polish yet.

I bought the glow in the dark and loved looking at my hands in the dark. To be honest I didn’t really beleive it would work. I actually layered over Power Clutch by Essie. It made the grey much softer and a bit matte but still it was cool. I really didnt think much of the orange and black but now that I see it on your hands, I think the orange is great, even tho it is a pain, I figure I will probably only wear it once so its ok. I think I am going to stop at Rite Aid and pick it up! Thanks for the great swatches!

  • I love them..Purple Potion somehow reminds me to CG Mummy May I. Somehow… Unfortunately they are not available in Germany. :o (

Aw, my stupid RiteAid NEVER has any of these cool seasonal things! Or else they sell out immediately. I’d buy the glowy one just for the fun bottle…and, obvs, because of the glow-in-the-dark-ness.

And dude, do not even get me started on taking pics in the dark. It takes me like 15 tries to get a decent swatch pic in *normal* light. And even then, the only thing I’ve found that gets good color and shine representation on the polish (and doesn’t make my fingers look like microwaved hot dogs) is to stick my hand under the shade of my bedside lamp. Clearly I need a better camera…

I find GITD polishes photograph much more nicely under black light than they do just glowing in the dark :)

I saw the black polish with the orange glitter at Wal-Mart, but have yet to see these. Hope they come here soon, because Pumpkin and Potion have me drooling! Might put some thinner in Pumpkin if I find it too goopy, though.

Creepy Pumpkin looks like a good one. I couldn’t find any of them, darn!

Creepy pumpkin kind of reminds me of GC Orange marmalade

  • So I didn’t have a problem with my bottle of Creepy Pumpkin, but I know quality controls sucks. Also, I believe Purple Potion is a dupe for Wet ‘n’ Wild Shine nail color in Night Prowl, which is a dollar cheaper.

  • Oh I totally adore those Halloween-themed nailpolish…no, ALL those Halloween stuff! I would totally love to spend Halloween in USA one time, because Germany isn’t that much into Halloween… but it’s gettin’ more and more every year I guess =)

  • Darn you, woman. I had the Glow in the Dark one and left Purple Potion. Now I HAVE to go and get it. Now I’ve got to break the bank and spend $1.99 on it. *raises fist*

  • Someone else mentioned it too, but blacklights make glow in the dark things look awesome, and they provide enough light to get great pictures. I have a mild obsession with blacklights…

I’ve seen this year’s line at Ulta and Walgreen’s. I bought the black one you reviewed earlier (blanking on the name at the moment), but haven’t tried it yet.
