Orly Holiday Soiree Collection for Holiday 2011 Swatches & Review

Ready for some more holiday goodies?
Orly Holiday Soiree brings in the season with an icy white, bright red jelly, some awesome metallics and a fun glittery black. There is one missing here which I passed on. It’s a deep, basically black blue creme called Le Chateau.

Au Champagne
Au Champagne is a pale icy white with shimmer. I am totally in LOVE with the way this color looks on my nails. It’s such a soft pretty shade of white and the formula was like butter. It’s a little on the sheer side. I only used two coats here but could have used three for more opacity. This is such a great holiday and winter color!

Ma Cherie
Ma Cherie is a bright red jelly. Super shiny, super red! Because it’s a jelly it’s on the sheer side so even with three coats you can see my nail line. But it’s still a really nice fun color, if not completely original.

Ingenue
Ingenue is a pink/purple metallic with massive gold shimmer. This doesn’t feel all that unique but it’s still pretty. It was on the sheer side and I needed three coats for full coverage.

Oui
Oui is another metallic with gold shimmer, but the base is a deep purple. This one is stunning, I love it and don’t have another one like it. Such nice depth and the purple and gold look really nice together. This was also sheer like Ingenue, so I used three coats.

Androgynie

Androgynie
Androgynie is a slightly smoked out black base with small silver and gold glitter and larger hexagonal multi-colored glitter. This one is pretty but kind of a pain. The larger glitter tends to want to stay on the bottom of the bottle so you have to shake it A LOT before applying. I didn’t do this as much as I should have, so you don’t see a lot of the larger glitter on my nails (you can see it better in the second photo). The formula is a little on the sheer side, so I needed three coats for coverage. I like it, but it’s not as user friendly as I would have liked.
Overall:
I liked this collection! My favorites were Au Champagne, Oui and Androgynie. I also liked the other two but felt they weren’t as unique.
Availability: I found them at Head2ToeBeauty.
Pricing: $6.00 each.
What do you think about Holiday Soiree?

I’m surprised but I actually really like Au Champagne! I thought it would translate frosty on the nail but the shimmer..! Oh, wow. I don’t usually like whites but this one is gorgeous! Feels very winter-y, for sure. Oui is the only other one I would probably get. Androgynie might have been another contender but having to struggle with application just isn’t my cup of tea.
Great swatches, as always! Thanks, Kelly!

Great swatches! Ingenue looks like OPI’s It’s My Year though, maybe a comparison will be helpful!

Hi Nicole,
I do not review OPI anymore and don’t have that one, sorry!
I think I actually need all of these! but particularly Androgynie and Oui. Beautiful.

Ingenue and Oui are my favourites from this collection. Even though they look really similar to OPI Rally Pretty Pink and OPI It’s My Year, I still think they’re awesome. Plus I’m a fan of Orly polishes.

Ah! Love these, this is the first I’ve seen of them! I have a question about where you got them, though.. I Googled Head2ToeBeauty and it looks like an online store. Did you get them online or from an actual store? $3 for China Glaze is CRAZY! Too good to be true?? Thanks!!
Head2Toe is a reputable etailer, the prices and polishes are real. Look out for shipping though at any etailer; you tend to have to haul at least 4 or 5 polishes to make it worthwhile. I’ve hauled China Glaze a couple of times from Head2Toe or Trans Design, getting 6-10 for around $4 each including shipping. Other good places to buy polish online at reasonable prices are nailsupplies.us, Victoria Nail & Beauty Supply and nailetc. I heard of all of these places from big polish blogs and have used many of them personally. Go forth and haul polish!
Thank you!! I have never, ever heard of these sites & now I feel silly got paying full price! Haha!!
Hi Nichole,
I have used Head2Toe a million times in the last 3 years and they are very reputable.
Awesome, I’m definitely going to order through them! Thanks for replying!
Im in love with Androgynie but once again I hear is a pain in the ass to apply
Au Champagne looks as if it were made for your nails.
I like Au Champagne since I missed CG’s Frosty last year
They’re not the same but good enough for me. Ingenue kinda looks like Zoya’s Faye albeit a tiny bit faded. I think I’ll pick up Oui as well ^-^
Wow, I’m surprised at how much I like Au Champagne. I wouldn’t expect it AT ALL, but it may be my favorite from the collection.

I saw these tonight @ Sally’s wanted to see some swatches though first… Androgynie looked pretty awesome, and I also think Oui is gorgeous!
I really like this collection when viewed in a vacuum, but not so much when I think of other polishes that have come out this year/that I have in my stash. I think it’s pretty obvious that Ingenue looks like Zoya Faye and company and although I know you don’t review their polishes Oui does look a lot like OPI It’s MY Year, which I already own. I like Au Champagne but I have a white shimmer in my stash so it doesn’t speak to me as a must have. I do like Androygenie and although it’s just a classic Christmas red I had a friend in school named MaCherie so I have unusually warm feelings towards Ma Cherie
. I don’t know if I’ll go out of my way for them but if they hit the after-Christmas clearance racks I wouldn’t mind!
Oui is super pretty!

I really like Au Champagne also. That’s unsual for me. Nice collection. Don’t know if I’ll buy any of them.
Ingenue looks really similar to Zoya Faye.

I agree – I was worried about 2 in this collection that they were going to mimic the large group of the gold/pink/purple phase we got inundated with this year between Faye, Rally Pink, It’s My Year. & I think I forgot one that I toss into that same group. There is one from the Orly Fall collection that is really similar to the Faye look as well.
The finish on Au Champagne is just incredible! Wish they’d done others in the collection just like that, but in different shades.
I know I’ll get Oui and Androgenie. I think I’ll more than likely pass on the others because I’m not seeing anything really unique about them.
Your swatches are grand, though.

Thanks for the great shots. I had no idea how pretty the white one was – I am going to have to grab a bottle of that one. Looks great on you. I have the black (pain in the neck one) on it’s way to me via mail. I wanted to wait to see swatches on the gold and purple ones because we all got hit so much with those Rally Pink, Faye & It’s My Year shades that one of the Orly fall shades also came in close to – then these 2. I did not want to end up spending $ and getting yet one more that was along the same range as all those this yr have been. I love Oui. I would wear that far beyond holiday – really it’s a 3 season shade for me….I would let it lie in summer as I try to wear all my bright summer shades once it’s gets really warm. All in all none of this group screams holiday which is kind of nice. I love some of the true holiday collections, but lets face it – how many weeks do we really use that gold/red/green glitter in a year – yet I am right there like the next person getting my Twinkle Lights from the CG holiday! Great shots – thanks so much.
I like them all a lot, although they seem predictabled to me. My faaavorite is Androgynie by far! <3 <3 I must get this bad boy!
Au Champagne looks really pretty agains ur skin ton! i could never pull that off. lol i have Orly Androgyne and i cant even put it up on my blog its just not worth it. LOL i had the same problem with the glitters.. i always thought i was the only with that problem .. good to knwo im not the only one! lol
Androgynie looks gorgeous! Even without the large glitter. Maybe it’s even better without it. I like Ingenue and Oui too, but I feel like I’ve seen them before and I don’t know where! But Androgynie is definitely going on my wishlist!
