Hello world!

As you know by now, Wet n Wild is coming out with some really fun goodies this holiday season. They have three new limited edition Coloricon Baked Eyeshadow Palettes that I will show you today. These are all Walgreens exclusives.

They all come packaged like this. It includes the palette which contains 6 baked eyeshadows as well as a small shimmer pencil eyeliner.

The cover of the palette is just a clear plastic piece that comes completely off. I wasn’t too thrilled with this, it’s actually seemed a little hard to get it to pop off. I don’t like when the lid isn’t attached somehow because I feel like I could lose it.

Bake-Off Contest! (wet)

Bake-Off Contest! features fix shimmery brown and earthy colors.

The shadows don’t feel quite as soft as some other baked eyeshadows I have felt, but that’s a small issue. They do have pretty decent color payoff. The one I felt was a little patchy was the dark brown when used dry.

Now as with most baked eyeshadows, when you use them wet it just gives an extra richness to the color. These are all amazing wet! Especially the copper one and the last two darker colors. Those came out so saturated and deep when wet. Love it.

Baked, Not Fried (wet)

Baked, Not Fried features cool tones of blue and silver mostly. Same thing with this one. The shadows didn’t feel super soft, a little gritty at first, but they had pretty nice payoff.

When used wet these ones really come to life. The blues look so much richer and bolder and the black is much darker as well.

Baking a Cake (wet)

Baking a Cake features pinks, browns and a nice cornflower blue. I particularly love the fuchsia here, which looks best when wet, the two shimmery ones in the middle and the cornflower blue.

The fuchsia and blue shadows I feel need to be used wet because they were really pretty sheer dry. The brown also looks much richer when used wet.

Overall:

I think these are really great sets! I like the variety of the colors in each set and they are all different enough to feel like you aren’t buying the same colors if you get two or three of them. Pretty nice color payoff for an inexpensive brand, but I think they look best when used wet.

My favorite one here is the Bake-Off Contest! one, which is a bit surprising to me. I used to be a lot more drawn to cool tones, but lately I find myself mesmerized by all things metal-colored. Sigh.

Availability: These are limited edition and exclusive to Walgreens.

Pricing: $4.99 each.

What do ya think? Will you be picking any of these up?

-Kelly

  • Oh man, now I need these again. I saw swatches before that made me feel like I could skip them all, but yours made me change my mind. I hope I can actually find them in my area!

  • Strange how the covers pop right off. I also prefer if the covers are attached. But when it comes off, it kind of reminds me of an artist’s palette. :) They look pretty in the pans. Some of them look like little planets.

  • I’d love to pick them all. Especially the one with the pink and cornflower blue shade. Should be looking great with green eyes.

I wonder if any in Bake Off Contest are close to any of Urban Decays shadows from the NAKEDS collection?

I don’t like how the packaging opens so I won’t be getting these.

  • I am really liking the swatches that I’ve seen of “baking a cake”. I may have to get that one, but I think I can pass on the other two. I don’t really wear blue that much, and I have so many version of the colors in “bake off contest”, I don’t really need more. I really like the colors in “baking a cake”, though.

  • I like covers that are attached too. Even though I don’t travel but once or so a year, I like to be able to throw my compacts into my makeup kit and go. Just a silly thought process though.

And, I do have these! I love how they are baked and that swirl-like is pretty. I’ve got to swatch ‘em up and get using them. I hope you’ll do eye looks with there.

My favorite is Bake-Off Contest. They’re all nice palettes. Will have to look for them. I really like baked shadows.

  • These are surprisingly pretty nice. I love that you show them as dry and wet because I always forget that I can use them wet too! I saw them at Walgreens last week and snagged a set. The set you have shown as being called Bake-Off Contest! is the one I got, but my package says Baked, Not Fried. Now I’m kind of annoyed that my package was mislabeled :/

    • Just an update, these aren’t out yet in my area (New England). Both Walgreen’s still had 1/2 full Halloween displays. I ended up buying a glitter liner so it wasn’t a total loss but I’m guessing they’ll replace the display with new stuff when Halloween is over.

Whaaat? How did I not know about these? Thanks, VV! They look FANTASTIC wet. If I find ‘em, I’ll grab ‘em.

    October 25, 2011
  • I really love the copper one in the first palette! If I can find these, I’ll be buying at least one.
The best part about Wet n Wild (at least to me) is that even if you don’t like every colour or you buy something and you don’t love it, you didn’t really feel like you wasted any money. $5 to me is nothing, and I think it’s fun to try new things. Most can’t really do a trial and error or try and hate it with more expensive products.

    October 27, 2011
  • I have a question. Where is says Baking a Cake, Baked, Not Fried, and Bake-Off Contest, are those the name of the palettes? Cause mine came in a box that said Baked, Not Fried and it’s the brown ones… maybe they just put it in the wrong box?

  • If I can ever find/get my hands on them, I’ll be purchasing Baking a Cake. Blues don’t work on me… at ALL, and I have enough neutral beiges and browns to last a lifetime.
