“Nail Polish” for Halloween 2011 at Walgreens – Swatches, Photos & Review

Generic Nail Polish Nail Polish for Halloween 2011 at Walgreens Swatches, Photos & Review

Right now at your local Walgreens, there may be the world’s most generic nail polish on earth lurking around the corner called…Nail Polish!! Bua hah hah! In fact this stuff is so generic the colors don’t even have any sort of name!

I don’t even know why I picked this stuff up to be honest. I guess it was the cute little triangular bottles and the rose that suckered me in. Plus it was only $1.99. And it shows…

Nail Polish Yellow Nail Polish for Halloween 2011 at Walgreens Swatches, Photos & Review
Yellow

I decree this color to be name Yellow! As you can tell this is a VERY warm yellow, which is why is looks completely horrific on me. This is the one shade that I cannot wear on my skin folks. Every other color is fair game.

The polish is a jelly and it’s a somewhat thick consistency. It’s got little multi-colored glitter pieces inside as well. This was three coats and you can see my nail line pretty clearly still. Ick.

Green

Green! This is a medium grass green jelly with multi-colored glitter. Again, sheer, thick and not so great.

Nail Polish Purple Nail Polish for Halloween 2011 at Walgreens Swatches, Photos & Review
Purple

Purple! This looks to be a royal purple in the bottle but comes off as more of a pinkish purple on the nail. Again a jelly, and again the same glitter.

Nail Polish Red Nail Polish for Halloween 2011 at Walgreens Swatches, Photos & Review
Red

Red! I was actually quite surprised and pleased with this one. It was the last one I swatched and I fully expected it to be a sheer jelly. But it was very opaque, bright, shimmery and had a really nice consistency. This also has the same glitter but it seems to sink down into the polish more. I really like this one!

Availability: Walgreens Halloween section (where costumes are).

Pricing: $1.99 each.

  • For the price, I probably would’ve stuck to WNW or NYC polishes. But then, it’s always good to venture out of the comfort zone and try new things out. :) At least 1 out of 4 wasn’t too bad and that 75% fail is something you can always chock it up to experience. ;)

Excited to see the adorable trick or treat-ers! Happy Halloween, Kelly!

  • Disappointed with how sheer they are, but perhaps you can use those mainly as layering polishes. It’s good to see that at least one of them came out more opaque!

This is disappointing. When I saw these in my local Wags a few weeks ago, I really liked the basic color selection and cute bottles, so I picked up the green one, as I’m a sucker for green makeup and polishes. I thought about grabbing the yellow too, but decided against it, and now I’m glad that I did. I haven’t tried my green one yet, and I’m thinking maybe I’ll just use it to layer based on these swatches. What a bummer. At least it was cheap!

Wow, I didn’t expect to see a review of these! I’ve seen them and passed them up multiple times, and after seeing the swatches, I’m glad I didn’t buy any of them. The one I was leaning towards most was the purple… I can’t believe how sheer it is! I’m usually an excellent judge of polish sheerness just by looking at the bottle. But I didn’t think it would be THAT sheer.

I actually really like the purple on you. There’s visible nail line, yes. But the polish looks like a different color on your whites than it does on the rest of your nail – usually sheers are at least the same shade, just lighter on the whites. This gives a really interesting and cool effect on the nail that I don’t think I’ve seen before (pinkish on your nail bed and purple on the tips). I might just find a Walgreens to see if I can pick this color up.

That yellow is almost orange! But as a whole…ick. And really, there are so many better reds on the market, it seems easier to just pass this by.

I used to fall prey to the ” omg, I have to buy it if it says Halloween on it” kinda thang, and i’m glad I got over that this year. Thanks to you, Kelly, the Halloween polishes that I got I really love. The coffin ones and a couple from China Glaze.
It’s Alive goes down as one of my favorite polishes EVER.
    Yay!

The only thing that could make that packaging better is if they’d actually put “Nail Polish” in quotes…

  • I saw these, but passed on them. I’ll be getting the red and the yellow if they still have them after Halloween. A sale on it would make it even better!

  • those might look really cool over a white polish!?

  • I got the red and the purple yesterday because of this post!!! At the stoplight I put a coat of the purple over Orly’s Rock Solid (that cement gray holo glitter) and it was love at first sight! It added that hint of purple and bumped up the holo a notch. If I hadn’t been wearing the Orly for 5 days and a chip/tip wear I would’ve gone the lazy route and did all the nails with “Purple.”

I won’t pick these up at all. Too sheer.
