Jesse’s Girl JulieG Nail Color Collection Swatches & Review

Jesses Girl JulieG Collection Jesses Girl JulieG Nail Color Collection Swatches & Review

Up until recently, I had never heard of the YouTube-r JulieG. In fact it wasn’t until Jesse’s Girl came out with a JulieG Collection that I heard of her. I know she does a lot of nail art so maybe that’s why she wasn’t on my radar, since you know me, I have zero patience for nail art. icon wink Jesses Girl JulieG Nail Color Collection Swatches & Review

The JulieG Collection consists of eight colors. Six of them are cremes and two are shimmers. The cremes are all in pretty basic colors such as peach, orange, pink, purple, blue and red-orange. None of those looked all that interesting or unique to me so I chose the two that stood out from the rest – Stiletto and Mermaid’s Lagoon.

Stiletto

Stiletto is a medium taupe with mostly silver shimmer. I do see a little bit or pink and blue in there as well but it’s super subtle. The polish formula was good, but definitely on the thin sheer side. I needed three good coats to get complete coverage with this one. It’s a pretty, soft color, but perhaps not totally unique. It looks almost like a dead-on dupe for Cheeky Monkey Hangover.

Mermaid’s Lagoon

Mermaid’s Lagoon is a bright teal blue with pinkish/goldish shimmer. First off, the base color is super flattering and gorgeous. I adore this blue! Then the shimmer just adds another layer of fabulousness. I love this combo and don’t think I have seen it before. The only thing I was disappointed about was that the shimmer wound up being pretty subtle. I would love for it to be a lot more prominent, but I still like it. The formula was excellent, it was really creamy and had perfect coverage in just two coats.

Overall:

I liked both of these colors, but definitely think Mermaid’s Lagoon is the one to get if you are getting any of them.

Availability: Rite Aid

Pricing: $3.99

What do ya think about these two?

  • Mermaid’s Cove is really unique to me. It has that shade of teal that I’m crazy about, and the pinkish/golden shimmer is a nice touch that brings it to life. The name for this polish is very fitting.

  • Both of these I really like, but I think Mermaid’s Cove is the more interesting of the two. Beautiful teal color and the pink/gold shimmer is really pretty!

  • Nice post! The mermaid color was the only one that stood out for me, too. I thought about purchasing some of the polishes, but “meh.” Not so impressed. Overall not super impressed with Jesse’s Girl as a whole.

I picked up Mermaids Cove awhile ago and so glad that I did. I love turquoise blue/teal polishes and love that it has the gold shimmer to it. It really makes it stand out from the others in my stash. Anyway after seeing Stilleto I am going to get that one too! I dont have alot of Taupe colors and I think it is really pretty. I like the hint of pink in the shimmer! Thanks for this!

  • I may get stoned for this, but I’ve never heard of JulieG either. :P

I saw these but skipped on them when nothing really caught my eye. I stood in front of the display for a good 10 minutes, too. If I had seen your review before then, I would’ve definitely picked up Mermaid’s cove. That shimmer makes it unique and like you, I do wish it was a bit more prominent!

  • I love the teal one, Stiletto reminds me of a darker Sephora OPI – Under My Trenchcoat. These are probably another brand unavailable in th UK. BOO!

Mermaid’s Cove is FAB. I’m a total sucker for anything in the teal/turquoise/aquamarine category. I’ll have to look for these at my local RiteAid…

  • I love them both! Now if only we had Rite Aid in my neck of the woods…especially for the price!

Julie G does YouTube videos about makeup, polish & clothing. She does outfits on Friday’s. I haven’t watched many of her videos but I was aware of her. Really sweet person. I bought the collection. I always support YouTube people & bloggers.

  • I saw these recently at my local RiteAid, but didn’t pick them up. I must say though that I was really impressed with the Jessie’s Girl nail polishes overall. They apply and wear really well!

  • I thought the exact same thing – I wished the contrast shimmer on Mermaid’s Lagoon was stronger, more prominent, and obvious in all lighting situations. I am not a fan of the “hidden shimmer”. I want obvious, blatant, strong shimmer. And even more than that I want strong contrast shimmer – deep navy with fire red shimmer… Mermaid’s Lagoon is still a pretty polish, but it would have been epic if the shimmer was stronger.

I am liking this brand for a cheaper drugstore brand – most I have tried have good coverage which I don’t get from many being sold at DS like Wet & Wild as well as Sinful that I find watery 90% of the time – though know many of you love that brand. I have not seen any of this collection at our tiny Rite Aide now. They only have a few of the shades that have been kicking around for 4 months or more now. We get stuff late or don’t get it at all here.
