Orly Birds of a Feather Seagurl & Fowl Play Fall 2011 Collection Swatches & Review
Orly Birds of a Feather collection for fall 2011 features six new colors and I’ve got two of what I think are the best ones.
The colors included in this collection are Sweet Peacock (shimmery deep blue), Lucky Duck (medium green creme), Peachy Parrot (shimmery peach/orange), Nite Owl (shimmery light taupe) Seagurl (metallic greenish/grey), Fowl Play (eggplant purple with holographic flake glitter).
I love Orly nail polish! I love their formula, brushes, bottle shape and caps. I don’t think they get nearly as much love as they should. They are definitely in my top favorite nail polish brands and are cruelty-free!
Seagurl, Fowl Play
Seagurl
Seagurl is a deep metallic grey that looks slightly green under certain lighting and has a silvery shimmer. The formula is really buttery and covers really nicely in two coats. No streaks!
Fowl Play
Fowl Play has a deep purple jelly-like base and is packed with holographic micro-glitter as well as holographic flake glitter. Most of the glitter colors you see are red, blue, purple, gold and green depending on how you shift your hand. The formula was a little more sheer than Seagurl is, but builds up nicely with three coats. Gorgeous color and probably the one most people will want in the collection.

Fowl Play is already pretty HTF.
I picked up Fowl Play about a month ago at Ulta. When I stopped in the other day, all of the Fowl Plays were gone; all of the other colors were still there. I think you will regret not having it (although it does remind me of an OPI…whose name I can’t remember now–I want to say Merry Merry Midnight ?).

Love these polishes! I couldn’t find the collection anywhere around me, so I bit the bullet and ordered the whole collection from Orly.com…. they were out of stock online at every other site I looked at….

Fowl play is gorgeous. It reminds me of OPI merry midnight, which is one of my favourites! Would love to see a comparison if you have it!

I have Fowl Play, and while I love the colors, I don’t like the bumpy surface I got–so I ended up double Seche-Vite-ing it and then loved it. I want to layer it over a medium to dark brown, though–I think it would be fantastic!
I’ve been checking Sally’s and they don’t have it and when I asked they don’t even know what I’m talking about or that they are even getting it, so I don’t know where else to get this collection from.

Uuhh, so pretty! What do you think about Seagurl in comparison to Chanel Graphite or Revlon dupe for it?
I heard that Fowl Play is a dupe of OPI Merry Midnight. Since I have the OPI version, I don’t think I’ll be getting this, but it looks really nice. Heh, thanks for reminding me that sometime soon, I really need to finally bust open my bottle of Merry Midnight! So many untrieds and too few nails.

I picked up Fowl Play a few weeks ago but it was really hard to find! Every Ulta I went to (4+) either had ugly, sad, depressing blank spots where Fowl Play should have been or didn’t have it at all, and neither of the Sally’s on my route had the collection either. I finally found it at an Ulta that didn’t have a display for the collection but simply had a few of the polishes in the same display as the core Orlys. The distribution seems pretty spotty–in hindsight it would have been easier and cheaper (considering the price of gas) just to buy it online.
Foul Play looks nice!

They have the whole collection in stock at Head2Toe Beauty, an online retailer. I’ve ordered from them three times in the past; I’ve had nothing but good service from this site. Shipping costs a bit, but it’s not too bad.
These are not available in my area yet still. I did get 2 bottles of Night Owl just on description before folks started to swatch. I think I might need to go looking on line to purchase any more from this group as well as the Mineral collection from Orly that has some that really catch my eye.

I’m so glad I picked up Fowl Play at Ulta last month. I got the last bottle on display, and I haven’t seen it restocked since.
sigh…i cannot stop staring at fowl play on my nails right now. you’re right in this probably being the main color most ppl will want out of the collection…the other ones do not jump out at me at all!
