Deborah Lippmann Holiday 2011 Collection Swatches, Photos & Review

Deborah Lippmann Holiday 2011

Deborah Lippmann has some new colors for holiday 2011 and I’ve got a couple of them for ya!

Glamorous Life and Good Girl Gone Bad, which are on sale now on Neiman Marcus, are the two I picked up because who can resist a rose gold and a sparkly plum? Not me!

Glamorous Life

Glamorous Life is a color that Deborah worked on for 3 years. She said she was obsessed with a rose gold Rolex watch and wanted to create the same color in a nail color. This is a rose gold with a metallic finish. Now I LOVE  rose gold, but unfortunately this one has some issues with streaking. It’s kind of a heavy frosty metallic so brush strokes are hard to get rid of. I used thin even coats and worked slowly but still you see some streaking. It did cover completely in two coats, and possibly you could get away with one.

Good Girl Gone Bad is an AMAZING “bold cabernet glimmer” (according to Lippmann’s site) but I call it a red/plum shimmer. It’s freaking gorgeous and JUST the type of nail lacquer that makes me swoon. The base color is really pretty but the pink/purple shimmer in it is sooo sparkly and glowy! It does dry to a kind of matte or dull looking finish but add a top coat and it’s just beautiful. I truly love this and know I am going to wear it a lot! This may be my most favorite color by her ever.

What do you think about these two colors? Either of them calling your name?

I totally agree, Good Girl Gone Bad is GORGEOUS! I really have to check it out in person – that deep berry hue is my absolute favorite color and the sparkle is the icing on the cake.

I have to say though, it looks awfully similar to Razzle Dazzle (which I have and adore). Any thoughts on that?

    • September 28, 2011

      Hi Ali,

You know I never got Razzle Dazzle so I really don’t know, sorry!

  • September 28, 2011

GGGB is really pretty…I can’t wait to see the rest of the collection! Will you be swatching all of the colors?

  • September 28, 2011

Good Girl Gone Bad would be my first choice if I ever purchase a Lippmann.

GGGB may be enough to make me get my first DL. This is gorgeous!

  • September 28, 2011

I def NEED GGGB! Ever since the promo pics came put that one called my name and your macro shot it gorgeous!! Have you heard anything about her Footloose polished that will be sold on HSN? Curious if you will be buying any of those…

    • September 28, 2011

      Hi kaydi,

I tried to get info or promo pics from their PR people but nothing yet! Interested to see what they might look like.

  • September 28, 2011

I don’t like Glamorous Life, but GGGB is amazing! I don’t have any DL polishes, but GGGB might be my first.

  • September 28, 2011

I wonder how GGGB compares to “Roxy” by Zoya…I love that pretty little polish.

  • September 28, 2011

they’re both so lovely! I don’t own anything from this brand, but hopefully soon!

  • September 28, 2011

Good Girl Gone Bad looks so rich! So much depth! Love it!

Good Girl Gone Bad is very pretty! Love the color and the sparkle!

  • September 28, 2011

“Worked on for three years” *MY BUTT*. More like “this idea sat at the bottom of a “yeah, maybe, whatever” list for three years. I could mix up a better rose-gold chrome from my own stash in under ten minutes, and it wouldn’t be any sixteen bucks!

  • September 28, 2011

Oh my god, this is sooo tempting because good girl gone bad is really my type of color

  • September 29, 2011

Both of them, please! I am Deborah Lippmann’s *itch forever. LOL

    Gorgeous swatches, thanks!!

Wow! There is definitely something unsually fantastic about that shimmer in Good Girl Gone Bad.

  • September 29, 2011

The old mini bottle of Good Girl Gone Bad which came with the Rock Star mini set was on my short list of polishes I would wear if I could only wear one for the rest of my life. But I got my big bottle, and I’m not sure it has exactly the same depth as it’s mini predecessor. I intend on doing some investigating. Still it is Love!

    • September 29, 2011

I knew that color sounded familiar! I just pulled my mini bottle out and I definitely think it looks a lot nicer than this version.

  • September 29, 2011

I’m not a fan of Glamorous Life, it looks a little bit like NARS orgasm in the bottle, but it’s too streaky for my taste. I love Good Girl Gone Bad! I don’t own any Deborah Lippmann polishes, but I might have to take the plunge for this one! How bumpy does GGGB feel?

    • September 29, 2011

      Hi Scienter,

Not very, and not at all with a top coat!

  • September 29, 2011

Doesn’t Good Girl Gone Bad look a lot like Razzle Dazzle? Although I don’t own any of these two polishes, when I look at the swatches they seem to be very similar. What do you think?

    • September 29, 2011

      Hi Maria,

I don’t have Razzle Dazzle sorry!

  • September 29, 2011

It’s a little darker or something than DL Razzel Dazel IMHO. I also know the brush stroke issue with the frosts in the DL collections – but I seem to get over them because the formulas are so amazing! These 2 need to come home with me. No NM anywhere near me so I have to look to friends who do live in bid cities to offer to pick them up and mail them to me. Thanks for picking these up and doing the show/tell!

  • September 30, 2011

I need to compare my mini GGGB with this fullsized one, see how they measure up!

  • September 30, 2011

Kelly you take such amazing pictures. I have to have both of these. I love any metal polish. This rose gold is gorgeous. That glitter is insane. Beautiful.

  • October 4, 2011

glamorous life looks pretty bad =\ almost cheap… a shame because the color sounds like it could be a gorgeous polish!
I LOVE good girl gone bad!

Good Girl Gone Bad looks gorgeous! I really need to check out Deborah Lippmann polishes and put them on my wishlist. I hope, sometime in my life, I own a Lippmann xD

I’ve seen comparisons online of Razzle Dazzle and Good Girl Gone Bad. I have RD, and it seems a little redder, and closer to Zoya’s Roxy than this, though still not quite the same. From memory, I’d say Roxy is brighter, RD is more like blackberry jelly, and GGGB seems to be darker, more plum, with a finer pink/silver shimmer than the other two. GGGB has been on my wish list for months since I first saw a comparison with RD and I’ve been bummed that it hasn’t been available. I was excited to see it on the DL site now, but wondering if I should try to find the mini bottle. However, after finding older photos, it seems like it might be slightly darker now, and I like that. As a glitter addict, and recent DL convert, I’m a total lemming for this and ordering it now.
