Deborah Lippmann Billionaire Nail Lacquer for Fall 2011 Swatches & Review

Deborah Lippmann Billionaire is a new color from her fall 2011 collection and she’s a pretty one!
Luckily you don’t have to be a billionaire to wear it…But she ain’t cheap!

Billionaire
Billionaire is a deep slightly murky hunter green. The formula is nice (and shiny), but a little on the thin sheer side at first. It takes a good three coats to get complete coverage. Very pretty color and I think a big one for fall because I’ve seen a few similar ones as of late.
Availability: Lippmann website, Nordstrom
Pricing: $16.00
Do you love Billionaire or are you passing?

That’s the perfect green for this fall season. I would so wear that.

I love it on you and I love the idea of it, but those really dark greens (and blues and purples) read black on me. So I’m passing. And I’m bummed about it!

I’m with you on that. Usually really dark colours tend to just look black on me, too. And I don’t really like that since I may as well just wear black.
Looks great (and green) on Kelly!
Lucky!

She’s pretty, but it looks very much like NYC’s Flat Iron Green which I have, so I will have to pass on this one.
I don’t think I like that one. I’m anxious to see Deborah Lippmann’s “Footloose” polishes though.

I must say this green is in my top 5 greens of the season so far…it’s like a vampy green.

Pretty! How would you say it compares to Nars Zulu? I’ve already got that and want to avoid any copies haha
Not feeling this one. I think I’d like it more if it weren’t so blackened.
I’m a huge fan of greens in all sorts of shades, but I feel i can get this kind of green for so much less money, and I actually think I already have a similar one at home.
Me too — this looks pretty close to Zoya’s Envy or Obsessive Compulsive’s Tattoo, both of which are $8.
Pretty! I looovvveee green polishes of any shade and this is the perfect fall/winter color.
I think it is really pretty but I don’t know if I would ever wear it?

Picked this one up during a BOGO at Nordy’s a few weeks ago!!!! Love, love, love! This is not a dupe for Zulu.
It’s really pretty but due to the price tag, I am going to have to pass!

Kelly, can you briefly explain what makes Deborah Lipmann such an expensive and premier nail polish? I recently tried a few of her polishes in Nordstrom and wasn’t impressed with the formula, though I might have picked some bad ones. I’m really trying to understand the industry better.

Hi The Lacquered Lady,
Really I have no idea. I suppose it’s like any industry though – some people set their price point much higher than others. Depends on the market you are going for. She does have really nice nail polish (most of the ones I own the formula is fantastic) and sells in more high end places, so you would expect a higher price. I can’t think of any brands who sell st say Nordstrom or Bloomingdales that are inexpensive. Just like you won’t find super expensive nail polish at Walgreens.
Oh Deborah Lippmann how I want you but cannot afford any more of your polishes
LOVE Lippmann but I’ll pass on that one. I have my pennies saved up finally for the Party Trio, and am anxiously awaiting the Juicy Couture collaborations.
After buying Clarins 230 and seeing the price of Chanel, I no longer feel like Lippmann is “that” expensive. When I crossed over into “high maintenance beauty” I don’t know. lol

Pretty shade. Very tempting.
Reminds me a bit of American Apparel’s Hunter, but Deborah Lipmann’s looks a bit more khaki green.

I love it deeply, but I’ll have to pass because I can’t afford it and I think I have something similar in Finger Paints Tough Art to Follow.
