Wet n Wild On The Prowl Nail Color Collection for Fall 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review

Wet n Wild On The Prowl1 Wet n Wild On The Prowl Nail Color Collection for Fall 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review

Wet n Wild has a new limited edition nail color collection out for fall 2011 called On The Prowl. These come in their fast dry formula and are available in six base colors and two “art” colors, which are really just glitter top coats.

If you saw the promo pic for this collection you will note my bottles pretty much look nothing like it. Not sure what happened there! There was a white in the promo pic, but there isn’t a white in the final collection.

Wet n Wild Jungle Fever Wet n Wild On The Prowl Nail Color Collection for Fall 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review
Jungle Fever

Jungle Fever is a medium metallic green. Nice color, but it was on the thin side. I needed three coats for total coverage.

Cougar Attack

Cougar Attack is a copper colored micro-glitter in a brown base. Love this!! I love that the glitter is so dense that it pretty much covers your nail. Also love that the base is dark enough to you don’t see any patchy spots. I did need three coats for coverage but I really love this one!

Wet n Wild Buy Me A Drink Wet n Wild On The Prowl Nail Color Collection for Fall 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review
Buy Me A Drink

Buy Me A Drink is a velvety looking purple/red shimmer. This one looks like it glows. Very pretty color. The polish covered better with this than most others, and I only needed two coats.

Wet n Wild Behind Closed Doors Wet n Wild On The Prowl Nail Color Collection for Fall 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review
Behind Closed Doors

Behind Closed Doors is a red glitter in a black base. The glitter in here is both micro-glitter and larger hexagonal glitter. The base though isn’t very black and it’s very thin. Also the larger glitter isn’t easy to “place” so you have to be patient with it. But it looks much better over the black…

See how much better this is? Jet black and red. Love it.

Wet n Wild Ready To Pounce Wet n Wild On The Prowl Nail Color Collection for Fall 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review
Ready To Pounce

Ready To Pounce is a deep royal purple with heavy pink and gold shimmer. Gorgeous! I thought it was going to be just a shimmery purple but the pink and gold really makes it gorgeous and glowy. This is my favorite one in the collection and was three coats.

Tangled in My Web

Tangled in My Web is a clear base with small hexagonal black glitter. On it’s own it’s not really that interesting to me. This is definitely one you will want to layer. This was two coats here.

Ink Well

Ink Well is a solid jet black creme. It’s very black, almost one coat but really two for complete darkness.

Wet n Wild Correction Tape Wet n Wild On The Prowl Nail Color Collection for Fall 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review
Correction Tape

Correction Tape is a multi-colored glitter in clear base. The glitter is micro-round bits, micro-square bits and small hexagonal bits. The glitter colors are pink, blue, gold and purple. The glitter is somewhat dense and covers nicely in two coats, though it would be better as a layering color I think.

Overall:

This is a fun collection, a lot of it reminds me of Halloween! I think the stand out colors are Cougar Attack, Ready To Pounce and Behind Closed Doors.

Availability: Late August (limited edition)

Pricing: $1.99 each

Which ones do you like?

-Kelly

Hrm, I don’t think that list is in any kind of order. Half of them are blogs I’ve visited once and never returned to. VV is one of only a few really great polish-centered blogs I’ve found — frequent updates, good coverage of new lines/colors, great photography, and well-written reviews of product experience and performance. 90% of the nail blogs out there have one terrible photo (or twenty terrible photos), consist primarily of “nail art,” and/or have reviews consisting entirely of “omg lookit this color, it is nice.” So cheers to VV for doing it RIGHT!

      • Hi collier and Alexis,

Also they are way off on my stats. Those are from a year ago and are much higher now. I don’t really pay attention to these lists, they didn’t contact me for any info and have a lot of the info wrong about people.

        August 15, 2011
    • Hi Alexis,

I believe that list is from 2010 and all the info is way incorrect on it anyways!

      August 15, 2011
  • I want them all! I probably won’t WEAR them all, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting the, Yes, I think I have a problem, haha.

Who else is thinking they see a fairly decent dupe for Ruby Red Slippers by Deborah Lippmann? Not spot on but compared to an $18 price tag, I’d take it!!! Ready To Pounce is also making me quiver a bit with anticipation. Hopefully I’ll find these on a drugstore crawl because I’d get at least two or three of them!

    August 15, 2011
    • That’s what I was thinking too! If I’m remembering the in-store swatch I did of Slippers, Behind Closed doors is exactly the same!

      August 16, 2011
  • ahhh i love behind closed doors!

  • I want them ALL! And I’ll get them too (my pretty)! Don’t get me wrong, I love Correction Tape, but doesn’t it seem out of place in a Halloween collection?

    August 15, 2011
  • I’m going to to be stalking my local CVS to get all of the glitter polishes as well as Ready to Pounce. I love inexpensive polish.

I would have to say that your bottle of “Correction Tape” is a horribly mislabeled bottle of something else – something like “Party of Five” – and really ought to be an opaque white polish.

    August 15, 2011
    • Hi nekosan,

I checked with Wet n Wild and they said no. Originally they were going to do a white but decided to do a glitter instead. This glitter has different colors than Party of Five.

Wow. That’s so weird! I’d have thought they’d change the name to something less… white sounding.

I bet Correction Tape would be great over a cotton candy pink–like a sprinkled cupcake!
