Wet n Wild Megalast Lipcolor Swatches, Photos & Review

Wet n Wild Megalast Lipcolor

Wet n Wild’s Megalast Lipcolor Lipsticks come in twenty colors, all with a semi-matte creme formula.

They are made with hydrating skin care”Hyaluronic Microspheres provide extraordinary adhesion to lips, an exclusive polymer complex offers cushion-like feel and texture, and natural marine plant extracts Coenzyme Q10 and Vitamins A & E help smooth lips.”

They claim that these last up to 4 hours and glide on easily with no feathering, bleeding or caking. Those claims are all pretty much true!

They do last 4 hours but they aren’t quite as creamy as I would have liked. They definitely feel on the drier side as matte lipsticks will. They feel more comfortable to me with a lip balm under them – after about 2 hours of wear I can feel my lips drying out if I don’t use a balm.

I was able to try 19 of the 20 colors (the only one missing is Wine Room (#906D) and I truly think these are some good lipsticks. They have their faults but what doesn’t?

One of the faults is the whole numbering system. These do all have actual names, however the name is on the protective plastic wrap that seals them closed, so once you tear that off, you are left only with a number on the bottom of the tube. That pretty much drives me nuts! It also made this post difficult because I mixed a few up them up and had to then go back and match the actual names on the website to my numbers.

The tubes themselves are pretty decent for the price. They don’t feel heavy-duty or particularly sturdy, but not cheap or really flimsy either.

Vamp It Up (919B), Rose-Bud (904B), Ravin’ Raisin (916D), Sugar Plum Fairy (908C), Spiked With Rum (915B)

Vamp It Up (which used to be my sign-off on my blog) is a very dark blackened purple. Looking for a goth type of purple? This is your friend. Gorgeous color but VERY dramatic on fair skin!

Rose-Bud is a medium warm pinky/brown color. This is a really pretty easy-to-wear color.

Ravin’ Raisin is a deep plum/brown color. It’s dark but not overly dark and easy to pull off.

Sugar Plum Fairy is a bright cool fuchsia pink. It looks much darker in the tube actually, I had no idea it was going to be this color. I love this one!

Spiked With Rum is a warm dark pink/brown this another one that I think is easy to wear and good for a lot of different skin tones.

Just Peachy (903C), Bare It All (902C), Cherry Bomb (918D), Pink Sugar (900B), Sand Storm (913C)

Just Peachy is a very pale peach/pink. It actually looks a lot more mod from a distance than up close. It’s very whitened and has a strong 60’s vibe to it. I wish it was less whitened and more peach because I think it would be more wearable then.

Bare It All is a medium/light warm nude. This is a gorgeous nude, not too light or dark, not too pink or brown. I really love this one.

Cherry Bomb is a dark blood red. It’s a little patchy, but is really nice dark red.

Pink Sugar is a very light salmon nude pink. This is another one that is very mod, very 60’s and not so easy to wear.

Sand Storm is a warm medium orange/brown color. This is one I didn’t expect to like on me but I actually did.

Mauve Outta Here (907C), Red Velvet (910D), Smokin’ Hot Pink (905D), Mocha-licious (914C), Cinnamon Spice (917B)

Mauve Outta Here is a medium cool purple/pink. This might be my favorite one because it’s really creamy, a perfect pink/purple color and it’s bright but not TOO bright. Love it and have worn it 3 or 4 times already.

Red Velvet is a bright cool cherry red. If you love blue-based reds, then this one is a really great one. Bright and fabulous.

Smokin’ Hot Pink is a warm medium bright pink. Great pink!

Mocha-licious is a dark warm mocha brown color. I did not think I would like this on me at all  but I loved it! I used to wear colors like this from MAC back in the early 90’s (Del Rio & Twig) so this reminds me of those days. :)

Cinnamon Spice is a dark brick-red/brown color. I like this one just not on me as much as a darker skin tone I think.

Stoplight Red (911D), In The Flesh (912C), Think Pink (901B), Coral-Ine (909D)

Stoplight Red is a bright cool true red. This is AMAZING, I love it. Love all these reds!

In The Flesh is a medium warm pinky brown color. Another really good solid color that a lot of people can wear.

Think Pink is a cool, pale whitened pink. Another mod one, very hard to pull off and a little chalky.

Coral-Ine is a bright coral red color. This is one of my very favorites ones because it’s a beautiful color and not just another red.

These are really quite great overall! There are some issue with the more pale colors looking chalky and hard to wear, but most of them have great pigmentation and are really nice colors. If you have drier lips you will definitely want to wear a balm underneath them to keep your lips moist. I mean for 3 bucks, you kind of can’t go wrong!

Yikes. Those are fab. I would buy all of them. I love matte lips.

  • August 1, 2011

I own several of these shades and I love them all. You are right about Sugar Plum Fairy: it looks darker in the tube, but when swatched it appears lighter.I took a photo of it and it looked kind of raspberry pink on me. I think I am going to tone it down with some lip gloss.

  • August 1, 2011

    love them, great coverage!

  • August 1, 2011

Thanks for the lip swatches. A lot of work for you, very convenient for me :)

  • August 1, 2011

Love the reds! Can’t beat the price either. I really appreciate the honesty in all your reviews. :)

  • August 1, 2011

As I was reading, I started jotting down all the colors I want. Amazinggg collection. Before I go and buy out my local pharmacy, I’m curious how well the color stays. Even with long lasting formulas, I tend to get bleeding onto my teeth (attractive, I know.) Was that an issue with these? Thanks!

    • August 1, 2011

      Hi Amanda,

I actually mentioned that in the post. They last at least 4 hours or so and definitely no bleeding. For me it was more of a fading in the middle of my lips then I just reapplied it. To avoid the lipstick on teeth issue blot well after applying, especially with reds and dark colors!

  • August 1, 2011

Just wanted to confirm. Thanks again and great swatching!

  • August 1, 2011

Thanks for the swatches! But I’m just curious if these lipsticks have some sort of taste or scent? The brand is not available here and I just want to make sure they are not scented before I order online… Thanks! :)

    • August 1, 2011

      Hi steph,

Nope no taste or scent at all!

  • August 1, 2011

I like these lipsticks (I already own two), even though I have to wear lip balm under them. I just want to say I really appreciate these swatches because they can look a bit different in the tube. I have about 5 more I want now.

I will say, that my biggest annoyance with the packaging is that the bullets don’t twist all the way down; whenever I use them I nick them on the cap!

  • August 1, 2011

Haha! I love that it’s called Vamp It Up! WW always comes up with the best, if super cheesy, product names. Love it! Great swatches.

  • August 1, 2011

    Thanks for the great swatches!

  • August 1, 2011

There are quite a few great colors here! I esp love the medium to dark ones…..wish I could pull off Vamp It UP….what a kick a$$ color!! 😉

  • August 1, 2011

    Mocha-licious Cinnamon Spice :)

  • August 1, 2011

umm I’m not much of a lipstick girl. But since you say these stay will and have no scent I may have to check these out!

  • August 1, 2011

I am loving Rose Bud, Spiked with Rum, and In The Flesh (I am boring, I guess). The reds are, indeed, hawt. Thanks for all of these swatches!

  • August 1, 2011

Your swatches are amazing (especially your lips swatches)! I find lipsticks shaped similar to these are hard to precisely apply on the lips – did you experience this?

  • August 1, 2011

    Those lipsticks are pretty. :)

  • August 1, 2011

WnW is really surprising me alot lately – so many great colors – at first glance of the 2nd pic, you almost think those might be some new Mac pro longwear lipcremes?

  • August 1, 2011

Like all the brown-pinks and the red ones. Will buy them as soon as I can.

  • August 1, 2011

They all look amazing. I’m hoping and praying someone starts stocking WnW in the UK. I could buy at least 10 shades!

  • August 1, 2011

I adore lipstick! Nothing more exciting than unwrapping a new tube. Love all of these. Price can’t be beat. The swatches do look a bit dry on your skin. Good idea to use a lip balm. I’ll have to try these. Your lips must’ve been sore after swatching all of these!

  • August 1, 2011

I actually own a Pink Sugar and the Mauve one. They are an AMAZING value for what you get!! Really noticeable colors, too. Thank you for the swatches! :)

  • August 1, 2011

I’m sad my walgreens never sell rose bud because it is just gorgeous! I was wondering how you got your lips to look so good because I can never get it to look that moisturizing. It always looks a lil dry on me.

    • August 1, 2011

      Hi Ree,

Actually I am not wearing lip balm in any of the swatch photos. But if I was wearing more than a couple minutes I would wear it under them.

  • August 1, 2011

OMG, check out Vamp It Up! It’s amazing. There are so many nice colours here and they’re so cheap. Drooling…

  • August 1, 2011

Vamp It Up is gorgeous. I really like Sugar Plum Fairy. Smokin’ Hot Pink is fab.

  • August 1, 2011

Whoa! I think I need Vamp It Up for Hallowe’en. It’s seriously hot! :O

  • August 2, 2011

These are all gorgeous (and I can actually afford them)! I picked up vamp it up recently (on accident, I meant to grab Cherry Bomb). I have to get Rosebud now. I’m increasingly impressed with Wet n Wild.

  • August 3, 2011

hello dad, hello mom, i need ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-CHERRY BOMB!…

    sorry, couldn’t resist

  • August 3, 2011

I liked Red Velvet until I saw Stoplight Red. Now those are some reds! I don’t know how you can swatch all these and not show any wear and tear on your lips. :)

    • August 3, 2011

      Hi Kimberley,

I did it over 2 days otherwise it would have killed me, haha!

  • August 4, 2011

VV, you are amazing for swatching all these. I have a couple of these, including the dark Vamp It Up. I bought that one about a year ago. I have fair skin and it is really DRAMATIC. Bare It All looks fabulous on you. And that Spotlight Red. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! I have to get that one. :)

  • August 7, 2011

    Really nice and helpful swatches.
I dreamt about Vamp It Up today. I wish I could purchase it where I live :(

  • August 7, 2011

PLEASE tell me how you apply these so perfectly to your lips! I own 4 of these lipsticks after reading such great reviews and I can’t apply them for the life of me. Just Peachy and Think Pink are a chalky blotchy “un-blendable” mess that fails to stick to my entire lip. Let me know what I should do!

    • August 8, 2011

      Hi Stephanie,

Well those two colors you mentioned are definitely harder to apply because they have that whitened chalky look going on. Try applying over a thin layer of lip balm and with a matching colored lip liner. That might help!

  • August 8, 2011

Hmmm, I see some colors I really like! Will try finding them on eBay, hopefully someone sells these :)

  • August 10, 2011

I have two of them but they didn’t seem to go on that easily, they don’t have that creamy feeling like most lipsticks i have used. Is there a reason for that?

  • August 22, 2011

    Wow you are amazing!
Thank you so much for the swatches! Just ordered 4 of them :)

  • August 23, 2011

Are you wearing liners in the photos of your (perfect!) lips?
If so, would you list brands and colors?
I agree with other remark above that they are so PERFECTLY applied!
Thank you for doing this for us. It’s such a BIG help!

    • August 23, 2011

      Hi Kaye,

I don’t remember which ones exactly but I think I used the following: MAC Spice, MAC Cherry, MAC Currant and MAC Naked mostly.
