Wet n Wild Color Icon Brow & Eye Liner Pencils Swatches, Photos & Review
![]()
Wet n Wild’s Color Icon Brow and Eye Liners are pretty darn good stuff!
I have almost all of the fifteen colors (am missing Cool Green) and really like the payoff and color range.
Also I LOVE how long these are! They are much longer than your average liner which means more bang for your buck.

Black Black, Turquoise, Purple, Bronzed, Dark Brown, White, Mink Brown, Deep Blue, Amethyst, Sky Blue, Charcoal, Olive, Green, Taupe
As you can see the pencils have really good pigmentation. I was really impressed with them all! They aren’t all shimmery either, some are some aren’t so it makes for a good mix.
They are slightly soft so can crumble a little if you press too hard. I have worn a couple of them and here are my thoughts. On the upper lid they last all day, no fading or wearing off for me at all. On the lower eye area I had some wearing off by mid-afternoon because my eyes tend to be a little watery, so that happens with most liners for me. Also I tried one on the waterline (Olive) and the payoff isn’t as good there.
My favorite ones are Turquoise, Purple, Mink Brown, Amethyst, Olive, Green and Taupe. I haven’t yet tried it but think Taupe is probably a perfect color to fill in my brows with.
Availability: Drug Stores
Pricing: .99 (!!!)
Do you have any of these? Which ones are your favs?

I’ll have to check these out at Rite Aid. I remember buying one in 1998 and it wasn’t great. Hopefully they’ll work for me in 2011!

Hi Chris,
They were reformulated last year and are much getter than they used to be!
Not only that (reformulated this year), but the whole Color Icon line was new in 2010, so if you got your pencil before then, it was the other line…I can’t remember the name, and am too lazy to go upstairs and check my old pencils. Anyway, that line sucked badly. They were hard and draggy, but back in those days, I thought that’s the way all drugstore liners were anyway, and mostly they were.

$.99!!!!! Can’t beat that, at all, EVER!

I buy the brown one to fill in my brows and I find that when I get down to half the pencil that it’s a pain to sharpen because it’s so soft. I stocked up on a bunch of them from Rite Aid this past weekend….69 cents each. I also bought one of the teal and purple to try out.
I had that problem too, and someone told me to pop them in the freezer for a few minutes before sharpening. It works!
I have used Black Black, Deep Blue and have Amethyst but haven’t tried it yet. They are really great for 99 cents. Thanks for posting!
Are the white one any good of using on the waterline? Tried so many without any success and ive got the old one from wetnwild which doesn’t work!

Hi Caroline,
Not sure I didn’t try that one.
i’ve had the white for about a year and use it every single day as my brow highlight and i still haven’t used it all up! but on the waterline it looks good for about an hour or two before its almost all gone. its not smudgeproof or waterproof so it isn’t long wearing on the waterline but for .99 cents buy two and put one in your purse for touch ups
Nice colors and agree with the long pencils – but I never have luck getting them to lay on smoothly. Also my drugstore pulled out almost everything Wet & Wild a # of yrs back – not sure why. I know in the 90′s they had a good navy liner that I liked a lot. I must be the only one in the states that can say my area has next to no access to Wet & Wild – what do all the pre-teens and HS gals do without that brand to turn to I wonder?
I have some of these. Yes, they are way better than the old formula. Very, very good value for your money.
Even though that is a lot of colors, it would be neat if they could have some seasonal colors. Some holiday shimmers, glitters?

They did that last year, but they were such a big hit they made them permanent this year. Most of the wilder colors now were in a limited edition offering last fall, if I remember correctly.

Deep Blue is my favourite from the ones you’ve swatched, although the others look amazing, too. Wow, can’t believe that for just 99 cents, the colour payoff would be that good! Good to know.

Thanks so much for reviewing these – glad to know that they have improved!
They look great! I’m particularly drawn to Purple, Deep Blue, Amethyst (!), and Green.
Thanks for this review! I’m going to get taupe for my brows!

These were on sale last week at Rite Aide for $0.69…I bought every color they had, the sparkle ones were on sale as well for the same price so I stocked up on everything!! WOOT lol.
Have you tried their self adjusting foundation? It supposedly blends to the color of everyone’s skin tone, it is a white gel with these little color beads and you are supposed to apply with your fingers, I bought it and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! I work outdoors and tan so my skin color is never the same, so I needed something that would adjust as I wore it instead of dumping hundreds of dollars on different shades.
Only problem is if you don’t rub in the little beads completely they turn black, but with fingers its not really an issue!
I’ve got to get to the drug store!! I was just thinking I need some new liners
Oooh sky blue and purple are on my list to get!!

These really look fantastic. I’ll have to buy some.
I have the dark brown and I use it for my eyebrows. But I feel it is a little strong on me though, which is weird because I dye my hair a natural black color so I have to darken my eyebrows from the the sparse light brown they are naturally. I really like the formula of them though. I bought a different brow pencil… I can’t remember the brand right now, in a dark brown and it is a bit lighter and leans tiny tiny bit red so this week I have been using that to fill in my brows and then I lightly go over it with the dark brown wet n wild one to get a color I feel works better. Also it helps to break it up and not look so stark.
Speaking of brows… have you used/reviewed the ELF brow gel/powder set thing? Your colors are absolutely nothing like my own, but I none of my favorite beauty blogs have reviewed it.
Another tip for brow pencils, check the WnW lip pencils, yeah, really. They have several brown shades and the formula is the same as the eyeliners, as is the price. I use the one called “Chestnut” for my brows.
Kmart had them B1G1 free a couple weeks ago, so I got purple & white. They’re nice for 50 cents or a buck!
I’ve been using the taupe pencil to fill in my brows for about 15 years now! (wow, I feel old after doing that math lol) It’s a little softer than I’d prefer, which makes it harder to get a fine line, but it’s so cheap I can just sharpen it every time and not feel guilty. I find that in pictures with flash the taupe pulls slightly warm, but in person it doesn’t. It’s a great basic pencil, I <3 WnW!
Wow, nice colors and swatches! I wish I could get my hands on these … *wishful thinking*

Wow, these look really nice! I’m going to try to track down most of these at my local drugstores… I mean, for .99 these can’t go wrong, right? I’ve had some bad experiences with Wnw products before, but I’m happy they’ve changed a lot.
I always have a problem with sharpening my pencils, they always ALWAYS break! Especially for softer ones, like these! Do you have any suggestions? :0 Thanks!
Stick ‘em in the freezer for maybe 10 minutes or so, it will harden them up enough to sharpen without breaking.
I recently got one of these in Dark Brown but I haven’t used it yet. Looks like I need to go back to Rite Aid and get some more tomorrow. Turquoise, Purple, and Deep Blue are calling my name!
I bought Olive after reading this, I am in LOVE. For some reason I passed on Green and Amethyst, but I think I might have to go back and reconsider.
I’ve got at least six or seven of these, including a back up of the black. The ones I use most are basic, black and dark brown. I really don’t like how long they are, but it’s only because I’m blind as a bat and need to be really close to the mirror to do my eye makeup so I end up hitting the mirror and screwing up my line. At this price, you adjust though, and learn to hold them at a bit of an angle away from the mirror.
It is good quality for the price, not 24/7 quality, but these are fine for every day makeup and $1 is sooooooooo much easier on the wallet than $17.
I tried using mine yesterday for the first time and had the same problem with the length of the pencils. I’m really not much of a makeup gal so I’m not very good at applying eyeliner anyway, and not being able to be close to the mirror made it more difficult.
But they’re cheap and the colors are pretty, so in the end it’s okay.
That Khaki green colour has got my name written all over it!

When i bought this i also thought a bang for a buck, then when i depotted it when it was very dull i found out that you only get HALF of the length of the stick!! i was shocked to find when i was cutting the end to depot it that there was only glue!! disappointed but for only 99 cents why not
