Did you know that Salma Hayek has a new beauty and cosmetics line out called Nuance which is exclusive to CVS? I sure didn’t until I saw her name on these pretty bottles.
I have always loved her in every movie she’s been in (hello Satanico Pandemonium in From Dusk Till Dawn and Caroline in Desperado), and I am really happy to see her branching out into the cosmetics world.
Nuance was inspired by her grandmother who was a cosmetologist. She combines some traditions from her family into modern formulations.
The three products I decided to try out are the Walnut Body Scrub, My Secret Super Moisturizing Body Cream and Dark Cacao & Coffee Firming Body Cream.
The line is cruelty-free as well.
The Walnut Body Scrub is made with crushed walnut shells, acai (for softening, nourishing and retaining moisture), annatto seed and rice bran oils (for soothing and calming itchy dry skin). It also includes caffeine for firming and toning, and is paraben free and allergy tested.
I have to tell you the scent of this stuff is really nice.
Sidebar: Scent is something I cannot get past, so I did do a sniff test of all of these bottles (even though they were sealed from the inside) to see if they were horrible or not. From what I could tell in the store they were not.
I tried it out in the shower and was super pleased that the scrub wasn’t harsh at all. I have used some where the scrubby bits were too large or kind of sharp and didn’t feel so great. This scrub is so super fine it was like using soft tiny grains of sand to scrub with. Really, really nice. The nicest, finest body scrub I have used in fact.
My Secret Super Moisturizing Body Cream is made with Shea butter & honey (for lasting hydration). macadamia seed oil (to relieve dry skin and restore moisture) and palm & safflower seed oils and Vitamin E (to help promote healthy skin).
This lotion also smells nice, not overly powerful, and has a light honey scent. It’s not a super thick lotion, but it does moisturize nicely. It takes a little bit of working it into the skin to get it to fully sink in, but not a big deal.
Dark Cacao & Coffee Firming Body Cream is made with cocoa seed butter (for hydration and invigoration for more vibrant looking skin) and rice bran oil (to condition and moisturize). It also contains coffee seed extract which can help stimulate the skin for a smooth, toned and refreshed appearance. Or so they say.
On the tube it claims that after 30 days of use, 92% of women paneled noticed their skin had a more improved texture. 80% of women noticed an immediate improvement in skin hydration and 88% of women cited a visual improvement in skin tone.
The scent of this one is of chocolate and coffee. REALLY yummy and nice. This one feels on the thicker side and also takes awhile to sink into my skin.
I definitely notice an improvement in skin tone and hydration, but that happens every time I put on pretty much any lotion, so that isn’t limited to just this. I cannot say yet if this has really improved the look of my thighs and ass (let’s just be frank here) but I will keep you posted! I’ve been using it for just a week for far. But after 30 days I’ll come back here and do an update.
I am definitely looking forward to trying out some of her beauty products to see how they are!
Would you try any of these? What do you think about Salma getting into this line of business?
