MAC Me Over for Fall 2011 Collection Nail Lacquer Swatches & Photos

MAC Me Over Nail Lacquer MAC Me Over for Fall 2011 Collection Nail Lacquer Swatches & Photos

The MAC Me Over! collection for fall 2011 will hit stores at the end of this month in North America and it’s got a little something for everyone.

MAC Me Over! was a contest that MAC held where thousands of people submitted photos or videos. They were all asked to finish the statement “MAC me over because…” James Gager who is their Senrio Vice President and Creative Director then chose six people who’s ideas best expressed the MAC Me Over! motto “Style, Heart and Soul” to be the face of the collection all over the world.

This very large collection comes in three parts each with a different vibe. They are called Icelandic Cool (icy cool colors), New Black (this seasons “it” colors) and MAC Basics (the artists favorite nudes and pinks, some classics others limited edition shades).

Today I am mixing things up from the Icelandic Cool and New Black collections to bring to you three of the four nail lacquers. The one not included below is from Icelandic Cool and it’s called Quiet Time (beige nude creme).

MAC Fatigues MAC Me Over for Fall 2011 Collection Nail Lacquer Swatches & Photos
Fatigues

Fatigues is the color from the Icelandic Cool collection. This is a muted, dusty looking army green creme. I love the murkiness of this color, it makes it different from a lot of other army greens. Before you ask, it’s definitely not the same as China Glaze Westside Warrior. That one is much brighter and more green than this one.

The formula was ok, but a little thin. I needed three coats to build it up nicely. No streaks though.

MAC Deep Sea MAC Me Over for Fall 2011 Collection Nail Lacquer Swatches & Photos
Deep Sea

Deep Sea is from the New Black collection. This is a dark blue teal with hints of green. This color reminds me of a blackboard for some reason. It’s really dark, but I love that it doesn’t look black even in low lighting.

The formula was thicker than Fatigues, but not too thick. I was able to get full coverage in two coats.

MAC Purple Majesty MAC Me Over for Fall 2011 Collection Nail Lacquer Swatches & Photos
Purple Majesty

Purple Majesty is also from the New Black collection. This is a really dark eggplant purple/red creme. It leans more red to my eye than purple though. I don’t think the color is very unique or interesting.

The formula was not my friend. This one was very patchy and I didn’t get full coverage even after three coats. You can see bald spots near the cuticle. UGH. These kinds of dark red cremes always do this to me.

Overall:

I liked Fatigues and Deep Sea a lot. They are both nice greens, different from each other and good fall colors. Purple Majesty wasn’t a super unique color and the formula drove me bonkers.

Availability: August 25th in North America and September Internationally

Pricing: $14.50

What do we think of these colors?

I need a dupe for Deep Sea! I’m trying to skip the polishes because of the prices.

  • I wasn’t too excited by these at first, but Deep Sea is gorgeous! I don’t own anything like it!

I’m not fond of Mac polishes, so I will skip these since they’re not really calling my name….

  • Purple Majesty caught my eye. Love blood reds <3

Does Fatigues remind you of Essie’s Sew Psyched?

    August 12, 2011
    • Hi Maria,

I don’t review Essie anymore so I don’t have that one to compare it to, sorry!

  • Deep Sea looks really neat, although I foresee teal fingers after removing this one :)

OOOh pretty. But MAC polish just does not hold up on me – it chips to all get out.

  • Wow, these colors SCREAM fall 2011 pantone colors… and as much as I wasn’t a fan of those colors on the site, I’m really liking Fatigues! Not something I’d normally buy if I were out picking up something new, but it looks quite intriguing on!

That green is fantastic. I do have many greens this shade. Mac polishes aren’t the greatest so I’ll be skipping these.

  • I haven’t tried Mac yet, but I’m loving all the colors!

    August 12, 2011
  • I like Deep Sea but it doesn’t seem terribly unique and so I may not get it.

  • Quite nice but not special. Wouldn’t persuade me to part with a tenner when there are plenty better polishes out there……

Is Deep Sea anything like Beyond Jealous?

I like Deep Sea, but I can’t bring myself to pay $14.50 for a MAC polish when they were only $11 a couple years ago. Plus they chip like crazy on me.

Fatigues is the only one on my list. I love greens.

I like Fatigues and Deep Sea. And while Purple Majesty is a great color is isn’t very unique. I am also not a huge fan of MAC cremes…much prefer their shimmers.

Deep Sea is lovely, but I just can’t pay $14.50 for a MAC polish.

Oh lord, I LOVE Deep Sea! Might be the perfect deep teal creme for me.
But it’s so hard to get hold of MAC for me.
Please, do you know of any dupes? If possible, can You please do a comparison post? :)

    • Rayanna

Yes, I would like a dupe for it to!

      August 13, 2011
    • Hi Andrea,

Hmm not sure if I own a dupe but let me check my stash and see…

      August 13, 2011
      • Is it possible that Finger Paints Military Green is a dupe?

        August 13, 2011
        • sorry, I meant for Fatigues… :o )

Can you compare Deep Sea to RBL Teal? Or does it have any dupes in your stash? I’d love to know! Fatigues looks very similar to a shade in the StrangeBeautiful Library of Camo set too.

  • OCC Blackboard is dupey to Deep Sea if not a touch more yellow than blue.

    I also love Purple Majesty.
