Kat Von D Foiled Love Lipstick Swatches, Photos & Review

Kat Von D has some new lipsticks out called Foiled Love Lipstick.
They come in five new colors
- Beranice – Metallic poppy red
- Forever & Never – Metallic golden peach
- F.T.W. – Metallic cranberry rose
- Oh My Goth – Metallic deep amethyst with iridescent micro glitter
- Valentine – Metallic hot pink with iridescent micro glitter
These “foiled” lipsticks are really metallics which claim to be highly pigmented and give you a look as though your lips have been wrapped in foil.
My experience with two of them didn’t live up to those claims…

Gorgeous lipstick tubes though, I do love the packaging.

Forever & Never, Valentine

Forever & Never, Valentine
Forever & Never is kind of a light coppery peach color. Definitely on the warm side. It does have a metallic look to it, though I wouldn’t say it looks like foil really. You can see tiny flecks of pink and green shimmer in it, but it’s fairly subtle. I didn’t really love the color on me, I found it really bland looking. Pigmentation was good. The texture was ok, though it didn’t feel very moisturizing. I think if I wore this for more than an hour my lips would feel really dry.
Valentine is a bright pink with lots of pink micro glitter. Let’s start with the color. The color itself is nice, bright pink what could be wrong? The glitter though gives the lipstick a VERY gritty feeling. Smooth and moisturizing this lipstick is not. It’s also not very saturated. There is a lot of glitter in it, but you can see empty patches on my lips below when I applied it. It’s more glitter than actual base color which just doesn’t work for me. Also it does not look metallic or foiled, just glittery.

Overall:
Meh. I didn’t like the color of Forever & Never on me, but there isn’t anything wrong with it per se. Valentine was just a fail in my book though. The texture alone totally turned me off and it doesn’t look foiled at all. These are going back!

Whaddya think?

From the pictures, looks like everything you said is correct. The first color looks blah and the second one you can DEFINITELY see the empty spots. It stinks that these don’t look that great, I LOVE the beautiful packaging!
Awww, that’s disappointing. Valentine looks awesome in the package, though.
Oh that’s a shame.
That first one is a rather odd color, though the coverage looks decent enough. Does Sephora accept returns if you’re unhappy with a purchase?
Hi Rachel,
Yep!
They do that even after opening it? Wow.
Ohh disappointing, very little pigmentation and the glitter is spotty, what a shame the packaging was so promising. she would have been better off doing a collaboration with MAC and throw out something edgy and interesting.
It’s a shame they’re not the best, because these colors look so pretty!
I have 1 of her lipsticks & it is really dry. I like the color, but I need to add some lipgloss to it for it to not be dry. I like the Forever & never lipstick, I’m suppose to wear warm shades (copper is my signature color), I have pale skin & reddish hair. I think I will check it out.
Too bad about the dryness, they look pretty in the package though.
Forever Never looks great on you Kel!
Hi Kasey,
Thx, don’t know why I don’t like it more!
I would be more than happy to take it off your hands…
Wow, love in tube and on hand, but seems to go a little orange on your lips. Not sure if it is just a lighting trick in the photo. Sad. Before saw on lips, thought why don’t you like these. I mean you want glitter to show through base color, but just glitter… Get chapstick and just stick glitter to it. LMAF. Same look and feel.
I like the Forever & Never shade. It looks like an exciting nude, if there is such a thing. The Valentine does look sketchy.
Kinda disappointing! I agree that they are beautiful lipstick tubes…and unique. I love her eyeshadow palettes though.
What a shame. They look amazing in the tube.
Looks like the kind of lipstick that would last on me maybe 2 mins max. I am not a fan of the foils at all…we all know they make your lips dry and peel with that chemicals they need to use to make them foil.
The idea is great but it doesn’t translate well to the lips. Valentine looks beautiful in the tube but awful on the lips. What a shame.
Thanks for this review! I had all of these Foiled lipsticks in my Sephora cart but these two will definitely be deleted, unfortunately. Oh well, more money to spend on MAC Prince Noir, I guess!
I actually like Forever and Never on you, VV
I think it’s a bit too orange for me, though. I agree with you on Valentine–total fail. It looks like a cheap tween sparkle lipstick to me.
These were the two lipsticks I bought as well and ICK. I think the tubes also seem cheap. If I wasn’t a collector I would return them. I’m waiting for my local sephora to get the other ones so I can try before I buy.
They are nothing like the swatches and suck pigment wise
I have to layer them both on for them to show up and the staying power is horribad.
Nothing like the original formula or even the adora lipstick.
