Color Club Back To Boho Collection for Fall 2011 Swatches & Review – Part I
Color Club Back To Boho Collection for fall 2011 features twelve new colors with a very 70′s vibe.
Most of the collection consists of creme polishes, but there are a few that give us more sparkle.
Today I’ve got the first half of the collection. I didn’t have any issues per-se with the formula, but some are super thin and sheer and take time to build up. One was a streaky nightmare and one was perfection.

Nomadic in Nude
Nomadic in Nude is a beige nude creme. Reminds me of putty. This was extremely sheer and thin and I didn’t really think it would even show up at first. But after three coats its opaque.

Earthy Angel
Earthy Angel is a very odd orange/camel colored creme. This one too was super thin and I wasn’t sure how the end result would be but after three coats it was opaque.

Shabby Drab
Shabby Drab is a greyed out cornflower blue/lavender creme. This was a little less sheer than the previous two but still pretty thin. It took three coats. I want to love it, but I wish the color was thicker somehow. Hard to explain, but it’s too delicate looking to me.

New Bohemian
New Bohemian is a green/blue creme. They called it a 70′s take on Tiffany Blue, which I can kinda see. This one was much thicker and opaque. I only needed two coats.

Nouveau Vintage
Nouveau Vintage is a brown with heavy gold and multi-colored shimmery metallic. This is what the entire collection should have been more like! This is a really unique color and the formula was perfection. It was thick and smooth and perfect in two coats. It’s definitely the best one by FAR in the whole 12 piece collection in my eyes.

Boho Mojo
Bojo Mojo is a frosty silvery beige color. The formula was so bad with this one I can barely comment on the color (which I find rather dull). This was a hot streaky mess and two coats.
Overall:
If I am being totally honest I am very “meh” about this collection. I don’t think the formula was very good with most of the colors, and I found them to be predictable and kind of dull (except Nouveau Vintage). I love Color Club and LOVE many of their collections from the past. I hope they get back to doing more interesting unique colors and finishes soon.
Availability: September 2011
What is your take on these colors?

I hated the nouveau vintage and of course the frosty one. I liked the other half of the collection much better. The cremes are ok, but with a subpar formula…I don’t think I’m getting any.
Werid fact that other bloggers seemed to not have that many problems with the shades being thin (or is it my imagination?)
Hi Regina,
I didn’t read anyone else’s review, so not sure how their formulas were.
Vintage is just plain out’n'out amaZING! *drools*

Hi Jenni,
Best one by far!
Noveau Vintage is so interesting looking!
ZZZZzzzzzzzz
That’s all I have to say. Really dull. Where is all the fun and glittery colors this fall?

Most of the colors look similar to ones I already have from china glaze except shabby drab and nouveau vintage.
Do you know where you can find Color Club? I saw a few stragglers at a Ross once, but I have no idea. Thanks!

Hi Rachel,
I have never seen them in stores where I live. I get them online from one of the etailers like 8ty8beauty or head2toebeauty.
I live in southern California and they seem to be at most bed bath and beyond stores
Thank you! I’ll check out those sites and my local bb&b!
(Love their Aussie licorice)
I think that Nomadic Nude is really interesting and New Bohemian is pretty. But I think I have every incantation of For Audrey that I can find and dont think I really need another one especially with fall coming. I think that if I see the nude shade I will get it. If you have a store called Beauty Supply Plus, they carry Color Club. At least the one where I live does!
“Meh” is definitely how I would describe these too. I like a few of the colors, but none of them having me amped up in any way. Oh well, I guess they can’t all be outstanding must haves. Thanks of the review!

New Bohemian is so bright and happy. When I’m in a bad mood, these types of colours pick me up.
Also, Nouveau Vintage looks super shimmery – don’t usually wear browns, but this is one that I can get down with!

Really appreciate your eval/review on these. I hate, hate thin formulas that I have to really mess with. That’s why I really do often steer away from a lot of the really cheap brands. I have to say that until I started reading blogs I put Sally H in that grouping too and never gave them a look when at the drug store. Now since reading blogs and finding out about the SH Complete Salon Formula with that fab brush, I know there are some drug store brands and lower price ones that I will like. I am all over SH Complete now – but it’s the same price for me as is Essie and OPI. Only complaint on it is next to no color choice where I live – I think it’s one that you have to be there when they release some new shades as they go fast. But I agree with you on CC here. While it’s not a drugstore brand, it’s still relatively cheap. I personally have nowhere that carries it and would have to order it off their web site. The only shade here that is interesting to me is Earthy Angel but I am pretty sure I have one similar to it in some old OPI and also a SH Complete Salon Formula that I got off Drugstore.com or Walgreens.com – not sure. But I was not expecting much from this line from the bottle shots. These are the first swatches I have seen of any of the shades in this collection. I sure don’t want to work to get my polish opaque. I don’t have the time to mess with that at all.
I like Shabby Drab out of this collection though. I may just wait til I see them sold separately at Bed, Bath and Beyond because I only like that one and Nouveau Vintage.

I like Nouveau Vintage. The rest are okay.
I am usually not a fan of anything that even comes close to coral, but I really like the look of Earthy Angel.
Nouveau Vintage is fabulous but the rest are pretty dull. I can even see what you mean about how thin Shabby Drab appears and that would turn me off too.
