Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette Swatches, Photos & Review

Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Palette Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette Swatches, Photos & Review

Urban Decay’s 15th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette is now out and is a celebration of the company’s 15th anniversary.

Man does that make me feel old! I have literally been wearing Urban Decay for 15 years now, since they first came out. Wow.

Anyway this seemingly constantly sold-out palette contains 15 new eyeshadow colors that span the range from neutral to deep and shimmery.

Pigmented? YES! The pigmentation in this palette is so great. Nearly every single shadow is super soft and fabulous.

Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette

I love the palette design itself. It comes inside a purple velvet case. Once you take it out you get a nice palette with a mirrored finish and a cool design around the edges.

Once the lid comes off you see a HUGE mirror on the inside of it. Great idea!

Midnight Rodeo, Midnight 15, Vanilla, Flow, Chase

Midnight Rodeo is a coppery/taupe with tiny glitter particles. Gorgeous color, but the fallout from these glitter ones is always a problem.
Midnight 15 is a pale silvery taupe shimmer. Very nice neutral color.
Vanilla is a pale yellow vanilla color with a hint of gold. I really love this one because it’s great as a highlight shade. It’s not TOO shimmery or obvious.
Flow is a light peachy shimmer. Another really pretty one that could be used as a highlight shade.
Chase is a medium warm shimmery gold/taupe. I love this one, so great especially for bringing out blue eye colors.

Tainted, Junkshow, Omen, Evidence, Deep End

Tainted is a pale pinky/lavender with a slight gold shimmer. This one is SO amazing, I love how unexpected the color ended up being.
Junkshow is a bright fuchsia pink with purple flash. This is actually the entire reason I bought the palette and I am not disappointed. Very pretty!
Omen is a medium lavender with blue flash. Another one I totally love and didn’t expect to like quite as much.
Evidence is a dark navy blue with light blue sheen. Wow the pigmentation for a dark shadow was so great and the color is amazing.
Deep End is a medium shimmery mermaid-like teal green. Again another great color.

Deeper, M.I.A. Ace, Blackout, Half Truth

Deeper is a dark bronze/brown with gold shimmer. I mean what can I say this color is INSANE. I always expect that I will love cooler colors more than warmer ones because I usually have in the past, but lately I am loving these super pigmented browns and metal-like colors. Gorgeous.
M.I.A. is a dark brown with slight sheen. Another really pretty one and very pigmented.
Ace is a deep steel blue shimmer. Pretty!
Blackout is a deep black matte. This is the only one in the palette that wasn’t as pigmented as I would like and was patchy (disclaimer: I didn’t use a primer under it here).
Half Truth is a deep kind of greyed out purple. Pretty but perhaps not as unique as some of the others here.

Overall:

I was on the fence about getting this palette because I felt like the price was a bit high and I was worried the colors wouldn’t be as great as I hoped. I am REALLY glad I bit the bullet though because there are some truly amazing colors in this and all but one of the shadows are very pigmented.

I have done two looks so far with these shadows and found them to be just as great on my eye as my hand. They blend very easily and work very well together. There is an issue of fallout with some of the darker shades in particular but that’s really nothing new.

Availability: I got this on Ulta, but it’s also been on their site and Sephora. It keeps selling out though so move FAST if you want it and it’s available!

Pricing: $55.00

What do you think about this palette?

  • Stunning! I am a sucker for packaging with makeup, and UD really hits it out of the ballpark for me – this palette is beautifully designed. I figured that the pigmentation would be great, I’ve yet to have a bad experience with their shadows. I have about five or six of their mattes and they’re not as buttery as the other shadows, so I’m not totally surprised that Blackout was a bit patchy. I’m totally in love with all of the shades you swatched, though! They do such great shades.

What size are the shadows? Are they comparable to the Naked palette?
    Great swatches….I want!
Are you going to post the looks you did?

    • Hi Jess,

I believe they are the same size. I didn’t take photos of the looks, sorry did them at 5:30 am while getting ready for work!

From what I’ve read, these are full-sized eyeshadows. So basically you’re paying $55 for 15 colors that would normally run you $250+ if you bought them all separately– plus you’d miss out on the cool packaging.

Pretty awesome deal if you like even only a handful of the colors in the palette!

I love this palette more than I love people. I will be a sad, sad panda when I hit pan on midnight rodeo.

  • Wow, I love it but don’t see myself spending $55 for it.

Very pretty colors. Especially the following: Evidence, Deep End, Deeper, M.I.A. Ace, Blackout, Half Truth.

$55 is a little steep but having shelled out the $48 for Naked Palette (which I adore and use constantly) I can comfort myself with the fact that I will get more than my dollar’s worth with repeated uses.

Mine should be waiting for me today when I get home from work! I bought it for Junkshow as well, but I’m so glad all of the other colors are gorgeous. I love Omen, Chase, Evidence, and Half Truth!

  • I want this palette so badly. The colors are incredible and I love the packaging. The price tag is the only issue with it.

The eyeshadows are full size, so at $17 a piece individually I think this is a great deal. I just got mine last week and love it! Your swatches are really great! Thanks!

Pure Love…i can’t wait to get mine whenever Sephora gets it in.

  • I know I wouldn’t regret buying this palette, but I’ve really been trying to be better with spending money. Ugh, this is so tempting!

$55 is nothing compared to what they are going for on eBay now they are out of stock everywhere! You lucky dog to have your own…I did not jump on it like I knew I needed to and pouf it was sold out. But I got the first Naked pallet on first release – so guess I cannot win all the time!

  • This palette is simply stunning! Love it! *_*

  • UD makes really good shadows, but I feel like a lot of these colors are pretty standard and can be found elsewhere. This would be a good palette for someone who’s just getting into makeup and doesn’t have many eyeshadows

    • I feel your pain. No one sells UD in Australia anymore!

It’s on Sephora’s website right now, and UD sent me an email about two hours ago saying it was in stock on their website, too!

I love this set but how many of the colors are reissues with different names? I have a lot of the UD shadows and none of these colors look new. Any idea which ones are new and which ones are old shades (with new names?)

These are actually from what I can tell (I have every urban palette except alice) and I worked at Ulta and with Urban for awhile, all new colors, they have similarities to other colors but they are all great and different. I got mine today.

Love this! The packaging, the colors, and the pigmentation looks amazing! Such a good mix of colors. Wish it wasn’t so expensive though… :(

  • I want this so bad, but for the price…do I reallyyy need it? Ahh I can’t decide, I wanted the Naked Palette but I almost feel like this BETTER because it still has plenty of neutrals, plus some other awesome colors since I feel like I would get bored of only neutrals. hm hm hm!

Just bought this off of the sephora website. I have been waiting for this not to be sold out! My heart literally stopped when I saw Sephora had it! I wasn’t even checking for the palette. I was looking for the liners. I cannot wait for this to come in!

I would buy this palette just for the second row of colors you swatched. Absolutely stunning!

I am SO SAD that I got the Naked palette! I would much rather have had this one! Finally, a whole set of completely sensational colors from UD- NO duds- and without the TONS of glitter they usually mess them up with! The only bummer being Midnight Rodeo- and if it only had no glitter, I’d love the color!!! (but 1 out of 15 ain’t bad…) I wish it had an olive green and a burnt orange, though. Hey I know- UD should do the “Anti-Naked” (“clothed”?) palette- with all very intensely saturated colors!

I will be buying this sometime soon I hope! Gorgeous shadows. So pretty and love those metallics.

Omen looks exactly like Morada from Prestige Cosmetics. It is an eyeshadow duo and costs $4.50 on their website. It’s a beautiful color- great pigmentation and texture. If you want this palette for that color- I would suggest buying the Prestige version first :)

  • I say this palette is stunning and I want it…. but the $55 makes me iffy. I know it’s totally worth it, but dropping $55 on one product makes me nervous. :\

The perfect balance of neutrals, colors, and smokies. Saving $200? That works too. MUST GET IT! BTW its back in stock at sephora.

I have had mine now for about 3 weeks and find the pallet a pain to use. It is so big and to open it, you have to turn the entire thing upside down to get the over done mirror lid off. I don’t have space for such a huge palette. Also, I am finding I am not wearing the shades in it with any go to frequency – they are going to be ones that sit there and in 3 yrs I will end up donating it is my take on it. Thus, I am sending mine back to Sephora. I sure am eager to see what UD is going to come out with in their new lines of eye shadows. They pulled so many – creams – loose – and all but a couple of the mattes which I ADORED so many of. I would rather have a 2nd Naked Pallet than the 15th Anniv Palette. Anyone else finding the packaging is a huge pain on this pallet as well as the shades are not really go to ever day used shades? I have so much eye shadow that I really don’t use and I clean out and clean out my makeup to get down to what I can and will use and not have so much that I cannot even find what I want to use. makeup access can be worse than trying to find shoes you only wear on occassion or when you need to turn your shoes around to bring the winter ones forward and the summer ones move to the back.

  • I like your review – more honest than others I’ve read. I have this palette and haven’t noticed any fallout issues but it could just be different brushes (or application). I feel even though the packaging looks gorgeous it’s not the highest quality – one of my shadows popped out. The eyeshadows themselves though are stellar and I love them.
