CND The Look for Fall/Winter 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review

CND The Look CND The Look for Fall/Winter 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review

CND’s The Look for fall and winter 2011 features two new colors and a new super cool sparkle effect.

The two colors are Midnight Sapphire (deep sapphire blue creme) and Dark Amethyst (deep plum creme). 24K Sparkle gives you a gilded gold leaf effect on whatever you apply it on top of. It works really great with these two deep creme colors.

The formula is really good with these. The two colors are super opaque almost in just one coat and apply very nicely. The Sparkle is thicker, but not hard to work with and you get a lot of sparkle!

Dark Amethyst

Dark Amethyst is a very dark plum. It’s very shiny and opaque.

Dark Amethyst with 24K Sparkle Effect

It’s the perfect background for the 24K Sparkle Effect actually. Gold and purple is such a sumptuous combination, and so fitting for fall. I used two coats of the 24K Sparkle Effect here to give me maximum sparkly-ness!

I love how the 24K Sparkle is different sizes and shapes of gold flake. It looks super cool.

Midnight Sapphire

Midnight Sapphire is a very deep blue creme. Again very shiny and it nearly covered completely in one coat.

I really like the 24K Sparkle over this color also. It’s magical!

Overall:

I liked both of the colors on their own, though I don’t think they are really unique. However once you add the 24K Sparkle on them they really come to life. I see myself adding this one over like everything. I love all the effects, but this one might take the cake so far!

Availability: September/October on their website and selected salons

Pricing: $29.00 for the set (not sure of the effect will be sold separately just yet-fingers crossed!)

What do you think about this set?

That is one elegant blue! I may need to finally break down and get my first CNDs for Midnight Sapphire and 24K Sparkle Effect.

Oh my god, I think I have to have 24 K sparkle! I also love it with the purple!

They’re all colors I already have (from different brands of course) so I don’t need to buy them. Although this collection does contain good fall colors.

love 24k. I am not sure I am dying to have another dark plum or navy. Always like in bottle, but don’t like on. Maybe because I have short naills.

I don’t find myself layering much, but I love 24K! Maybe I’ll cave.

  • I like all three of them, but the sparkle effect is a must!

  • Oh wow, this is absolutely gorgeous! I wasn’t sure when I saw promo pictures, but now I must have it!

  • I love these combos that Creative puts out. I feel like they really are stepping up their game! Plus, a polish that almost covers in one coat is unheard of! Did you ever try their last duo…I think it was “Bare..” something or other? I have been eyeing that one too!

Wowza! Beautiful! I feel like I don’t need the colors because I have similar (although these are quite nice), but I’d be interested in the Effect for sure if it comes separately.

  • Kelly, these are gorgeous. What’s the wear like on them?

    July 21, 2011
    • Hi Polarbelle,

I rarely comment on wear because for me nothing lasts more than 2-3 days. Period. Also I have only swatched these, haven’t worn them yet. But I can say CND as a rule has excellent polish.

I bet the sparkle effect would look great over a vibrant green or orange~

  • That sparkle is gorgeous! Especially over the blue.

I am major liking the collection. Were it not for the really different 24K it would be blaugh….but the uniqueness of 24K really makes this collection. And who would have thought that there was yet another new way to do a gold over-lay? Now…problem is to find CND. There was a day in the 80′s and early 90′s ever acrylic shop had, sold and used CND almost exclusively. Now I cannot find places that sell it to save me…and that’s including going to my ‘shopping Mecca’ that is well over a 2 hr drive from my house one way and is not a drive I take often to shop. Guess I will be looking on line for this one when it releases. Thanks for the totally FAB shots/swatches! You sold me – so tell CND if they sent this to you for PR – they got a sale from me!

  • I want it just for the blue and gold combo alone! :)

Love the two polishes. I don’t care for the topcoat at all. The polishes are too pretty to add that gold.

    • Virginia

I totally agree! The top coat just makes the polish look messy!

      July 21, 2011
  • They’re lovely! Especially with the gold over the top. Love it.

  • very cool!

  • I was the 24K as a top coat over a red creme for my Christmas mani!

I think the base for the 24k effect is too opaque to layer over those other colours nicely, it really makes them look muddy.
