OPI Over The Taupe vs. Sonia Kashuk Tauped – Reader Request!
Welcome to another edition of “vs.” featuring another reader request!
This time we are pitting OPI Over The Taupe against Sonia Kashuk Tauped.
You will see there are definite differences in these two lovely taupe colors.
Sonia Kashuk Tauped on pointer & ring, OPI Over The Taupe on middle and pinky
Sonia Kashuk Tauped is a new-ish taupe color which is sold only at Target. The color itself is a medium brown taupe creme with grey undertones.
OPI Over The Taupe is a few years old now and also a taupe, but much different than SK Tauped. It’s got more of a warm reddish hue to it. It’s not your typical cool brown taupe that we have seen a ton of in the last year or so. I think of all my taupes this is one of the ones that stands out the most from the rest because of the warmer tones it has.

Verdict:
So as you can see these are really different colors, but both fall under the taupe creme category.
Winner:
I love both, but my preference is Tauped because I gravitate towards cooler colors usually.

“Over The Taupe” is one of my favorite neutral colors. I’m NC30 and it really works on me. Looking at your swatches, I would probably get the Sonia Kashuk color, but I’ll stick with OTT. thanks for the comp!
I wonder how the SK would compare to OPI You don’t know jacques…YDKJ is probably dark I’m assuming

Yeah the OPI one just doesn’t do much for me either, and I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t look good on me at all. Def. prefer the cooler toned Tauped.

I own Over The Taupe and I love it so much I never wanted to try any other taupes.
I LOVE Tauped. I saw it at Target and didn’t pick it because I figured I already had similar polishes, but looking right now I see I do not. I’m with you, i like cooler toned polishes, too.

I have OPI Over the Taupe and I love it. that Sonia Kashuk is nice too, and I think I prefer it. I too would like to see it compared w/ You Don’t Know Jacques–which I didn’t buy because it was darker on the nail than in the bottle.
I don’t have either but looking at them on you, I prefer OPI. The color is much warmer than SK’s, that one is too gray.

I prefer OPI OVT. The SK one looks too gray and like other tired taupy grays out there. Been there, done it. I really love OPI YDNJ despite it’s not in the running here for a comparison at all.

I can’t decide, I would wear them both, LOL Now, I am a lover of taupe nail polish. I have never seen your nails look more beautiful than with this polish, I am really amazed how the difference in the two polishes are so noticeable and bet unless your put them side by side like you did here, you could not tell them apart. You really love your fans!

That’s like trying to pick a favorite child. Just depends whether you like warmer or cooler. Like them both. I don’t own any Sonia Kuhuk. I read they weren’t very good. Has the formula improved?
