Revlon Black With Envy Nail Enamel Swatches, Photos & Review

Revlon has a new shade of nail enamel out for summer and it’s called Black With Envy.

I already know what my next “vs.” post will be because I think a lot of you will want to see this pitted against Chanel Black Pearl. Right? :)

Black With Envy (with flash)

Revlon Black With Envy 1
Black With Envy

Black With Envy is a deep charcoal grey base with a slight dark green tint to it, depending on the lighting. It’s got green and pink shimmer running throughout as well.

It’s kind of a metallic, but not quite. The formula was pretty good, though on the more sheer side. I needed three coats to get maximum coverage.

It’s a nice color and I like it! I have not yet compared it to Chanel Black Pearl so I cannot say if it’s a dupe yet, but soon!

I like it! I’d pick it up if I saw it. Revlon is an oldie but a goodie for me.

Love the shade! Sally Hansen has something similar called Gunmetal from the Xtreme wear line. That is really close to Black Pearl!

But aren’t those duochromes with a purple/blue flash? I have a few of those, and I have Black With Envy, and there’s no duochrome or purple to it.

I picked this up (and picked up & put down the nude lipstick that was sold on the display with it– I was afraid it wouldn’t work for me) and was once again pleasantly surprised by Revlon’s formula. They’d been an ‘underappreciated brand’ in my collection for a while, but no more; I have four and will probably get more.

I keep doing the same thing! Each time I see it, I put the lipstick in my basket, then put it back. The polish looks pretty though! I have been pleasantly surprised by Revlon lately as well. The new trio of “mini” polishes they have out for summer look cool as well!

I really like this color! In my mind, this is what “You Lucerine-tainly look Marvelous” should look like, it doesn’t… I just picked up Revlon’s “Blue Lagoon”. I hope it doesn’t fail me!

I have “Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous” and agree. I thought that it is closest to this color out of what I have, but I like the multi-color effect of this one better. Plus, the OPI one chipped much worse on me than I expected for a glittery-ish polish.

It’s hella hard to find this polish anywhere I go. Totally frustrated at this point. Was looking for it because everyone…almost everyone…is saying it’s a Chanel dupe. I’ll continue on my search anyway. Can’t wait to see comparisons.

Thanks a biggie issue I always find with common drug store polishes. I never really haunt drug stores – they and places like Wal-Mart I have learned I tend to pick up a ton of stuff I don’t need on impulse and leave only needing to pick up one little thing with a receipt for $50! Though have to say the sales drug stores have on cosmetics are GREAT. But with regard to polish, if I go looking for one I want, I usually never find it. Seems they get one set of stocking in of the newbies and never get anymore. Wal-Mart seems to get a little better stock refreshing on some brands with ltd ed. sometimes. I live in a tiny, semi-rural area, so not much ability to go roaming about looking at various drug stores for X or Y. With the cost of gas, I use the phone and try to find one employee at Rite Aide and one at the Walgreens 30 miles from me that I know I can call and they will hold something for me I really want to look at – such as the new now in retail Essie shades. I really like the coppers and golds too. I am into silver but only with a thin viscous line of it across the tip of a nail – see So Easy Stripe Rite – sold at most Sally’s – it comes in tons of shades – super fine brush and can be used for a thinner edge stripe than you can do with any other polish – also very dense like think craft glitter glue dense. it’s my latest fling esp on my pedies when I do them in darker shades. Some reason the silver just works better than gold or bronze. But not to indicate this product I reference here is limited to metallic. They have it in about every shade you can think of. You can also use it for dotting in nail art really easy too. Sorry, I got carried away in my reply here!

I really like this shade, but I am not typically a fan of Revlon polishes anymore (as in eons). I don’t like to get 3-4 coats on as most of them require. Now if Sally Hanson Salon Collection broadens out their color shades to things like this – FABULOUS! I need to pull up the Chanel Black Pearl that I covet to see how it looks to dup this one. I just hate to pay the Chanel price – thus I only have maybe 3 Chanel polishes.

Ok, did a fast look see as this as a dup for Chanel Black Pearl. IMHO, CBP is not got the amount of silver in it as does this Revlon. The Revlon jumps off into your eyes more while the Chanel seems to blend into your hand, nail, fashion with a bit more subtlety.

Why I have this one sitting on the table just waiting to be swatched is beyond me. I need to take this baby out on a test drive! Looks incredibly swell on you. :)

It looks a metallic and I love how it shimmers in the light. Revlon has come across with nicer shades in the past few months…Although haven’t seen any TV commercials about their polishes lately.

I picked this up a couple of weeks ago, I think at Walgreen’s. I grabbed it up because I’d heard it was a close-enough-but-not-quite dupe of Black Pearl, and since I didn’t ‘need’ Black Pearl, this works enough for me that I don’t feel like I missed out on anything. Otherwise I’d fear future boo-hooing that I didn’t pick it up even though it didn’t overly wow me.

Yeah, that would be a great vs.! It looks pretty. :)

I found that the Chanel Black Pearl has a bit more green in it. I was kind of disappointed because I was hoping for an exact dupe. I really like the Black Pearl better but for some reason Chanel polishes chip horribly on me even with a Seche Vite top coat.

I was lucky to win this from kelliegonzo! I couldn’t find this in the drugstore. I haven’t worn it yet but was really happy to get it.

      Hi Lucy,

Nice! I have yet to see it in drugstores either, kind of odd.

  • May 18, 2011

Love that it’s not a plain black color. I think I might just pick this up!
