Pacifica Body Butter in Indian Coconut Nectar and Tahitian Gardenia

Pacifica Body Butter Pacifica Body Butter in Indian Coconut Nectar and Tahitian Gardenia

What was I thinking? Me, a self-confessed lotion addict, skipped over these Pacifica Body Butters for years upon years and I have no clue why.

But now that I have tried them, I think I might be hooked!

Pacifica is a company dedicated to the environment, which gives them bonus points. All their skin care products are cruelty-free and 100% Vegan. Their fragrances use high quality ingredients found from all over the world and they don’t support the use of natural ingredients that are either threatened or where the harvesting of it endangers anything in the environment. The candles are all made in the USA and contain lead-free wicks.

But back to the body butter icon smile Pacifica Body Butter in Indian Coconut Nectar and Tahitian Gardenia

These are made with Shea butter, almond oil and safflower oil, which are all very moisturizing. They feel thick and absorbent, not greasy or heavy at all.

They currently come in at least 12 scents and since I hadn’t tried them before and wanted to make sure I liked them, I went with just two scents and in a smaller size.

Tahitian Gardenia is a really nice scent, obviously strong on the Gardenia and lighter on the other “notes” of Jasmine and Ylang Ylang.

I happen to love Gardenia as long as it doesn’t smell fake, and this doesn’t at all, it’s really lovely.

Indian Coconut Butter is a heavier scent than Tahitian Gardenia to my nose. It smells of coconut and vanilla mostly, with a little spiciness to it, but not musky (which I loathe).

I like the smell of this one at first but after I rub it in, it starts smelling a little artificial to me. Not overly so and not so much that I won’t use it, but I’m not sure I would buy this particular one again.

Some of the other scents include:

Hawaiian Ruby Guava
Brazilian Mango Grapefruit
Lotus Garden
Malibu Lemon Blossom
Tuscan Blood Orange
Mediterranean Fig
French Lilac
California Star Jasmine
Persian Rose
Waikiki Pikake

I think I want to try like 90% of these other ones!

If you go to Pacifica’s actual website they have them in both 8 oz tubes or jars, but you can also find smaller sizes of some (not all) of the scents on Sephora.

The ones I got were 2.5 oz and 3 oz, which is kind of odd that they are different sizes.

Availability: Their website or Sephora

Pricing: $18.00 for 8 oz tube or jar or $5.00 for 2.5 or 3 oz

Have you tried any of the Pacifica products?

  • I haven’t tried anything from Pacifica yet, but it’s probably time seeing as I go over to their shelf and smell everything each time I’m in Sephora.

  • Hmmm…never seen any body butters with peanut oil listed in the ingredients. Guess I don’t buy enough of them to notice or maybe they have a fancy ingredient name instead of saying just “peanut oil”. Seems weird to include…because it sounds like peanut oil would clog pores. I’ll have to look that one up.

I got the coconut a few months ago, and feel the same way about the smell. It’s great at first, then it goes weird somehow. Love the formula though! I’ll definitely be trying other scents!

Hi. I got the perfume version of this scent and it did the same. Smelled fab at first but the longer it was on my skin, the worse it smelled…Not something I would repurchase. But many of the other scents are pretty nice.

I have the grapefruit scented solid perfume and I love it. I keep it in my travel case since it’s super tiny and not liquid (i.e. doesn’t take up any space from my 1 qt. ziploc). I’ve been eying the coordinating lotions for a while now, and I think I’ll have to give them a try.

    • Hi Jamie,

I love grapefruit scented things also, that’s another I would like to try.

  • Kelly, I have tried the Tuscan Blood Orange body butter and I LURVE it! Heavenly! Based on your review, I think I am going to try the Gardenia next.

I received the coconut as a deluxe sample from Sephora about 3 mos back and I didn’t particularly like it. It didn’t smell very coconutty and kind of went plasticy. my samply came with a shower gel, body butter and perfume and everything but the gel went plasticy after about 5 minutes.

    • Hi sara,

Yes, plasticky was the smell it kind of turned to after a few minutes. How odd!

I have a pot of the Hawaiian Ruby Guava solid perfume and a tub of the lotion in the same scent. I FREAKING LOVE IT!

    • Hi Kellie,

      That sounds SO yummy!!

omg, it is! It smells soooo fruity and delicious. And it lasts a long time too! I like that the perfume pot is so little too – nice and compact enough for freshen ups. ;)

  • I love Pacifica’s candles and perfumes, but for some reason I’ve never tried the body butter. I need to remedy that. :)

Also, I don’t know about the body butters, but Whole Foods carries quite a selection of Pacifica stuff.

Oh good to know about Whole Foods, though I don’t have one closer than 30 minutes to me. Wish they would build one :)

I never would buy anything with coconut fragrance in it. I just never trust that they wouldn’t smell weird. I love gardenia. Good to know that it’s a nice fragrance. I will try these sometime. I won’t buy the coconut. I have Philosphy’s shower gel in toasted coconut and it smells like cheap cookies.

    May 4, 2011
    • Hi Lucy,

Yeah I’m not sure I have anything that is mostly coconut that does smell authentic…

OMG I LOOOOVE Pacifica products…so good and the ingredients are so good! :) Yes to Carrots has a pretty awesome body butter as well

So it’s cheaper to buy multiples of the smaller sizes than to buy the large size, especially on the 3 oz ones. That’s…odd.

We used to carry Pacifica at the Borders Bookstore I worked at– so many fantastic scents! Ruby Guava is my personal favorite, though I only bought the Blood Orange body butter for some reason. Unfortunately, it started to smell a little oddly bitter/yucky not long after I purchased it.

  • I got a small set from Sephora with my points. The scent was the indian coconut. And I actually LOVE that scent. It came with a small shower gel as well as a small perfume. I can’t stop opening it up and smelling it <3

I recently tried the coconut too and thought it was way too bitter or plasticky….not sure exactly how to describe what I didn’t like but I knew it wasn’t for me! I do love the ruby guava scent though in this line.

My fav coconut is and always will be the Body Shop’s coconut. That layered with Yves Rocher coconut fragrance is YUM!

  • I love this brand. I have several scents but I really like the mango, guava and grapefruit one. I have tried their lotions, perfume and recently their shower gels. I like the shower gels although I wish they lathered more.

  • I have never tried any Pacifica products before, but some of those scents sound interesting!
I did recently pick up the LAVANILA Vanilla Grapefruit healthy body butter & I love it! If you like grapefruit scents, you should check it out.
And I have to agree about coconut scents, most of the time they’re too fake & sweet. I do really like The Body Shop Coconut milk body lotion. It smells like REAL coconut & is really great.

I have tried the Tuscan Blood orange one and really liked it. I love anything coconut and vanilla so I might give that one a whirl just to see. Thank you for the reviews!
