MAC Surf Baby Collection for Summer 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review

Surf Baby is MAC‘s newest collection for summer 2011. It’s a somewhat large collection, but I’ve got a good chunk of it to show you today.
The packaging that they included here is really perfection for a summer collection. The packaging is a nice cream color and also features bright yellow, orange, teal, and grey. Most everything is stamped with a pretty orange Hibiscus flower. Super summery and cute!

On the left you see just the orange portion of the powder, which is a deep coral/peach color. In the middle is just the gold overspray. On the right is the combination of the two and it winds up being a really pretty peach with gold color.
The design of this powder is almost too pretty to ruin by touching it! There is really good pigmentation, but sadly the gold overspray will eventually disappear, wah!

These crushed pigments are absolutely STUNNING! They are a definite must have in my book. They have a very “foiled” look to them which I love because they are just used dry!
All of them are beyond pigmented, I barely touched the little plastic cover that covers them to protect them from spilling and got SO much color. Love it!
The first color is a super frosted silver. Next up is a pale celadon green. Then we have a deep blue/grey. And last but definitely NOT least a gorgeous gold bronze. I think that one is my favorite one here, it’s amazing.

Summer Stash are mostly warmer colors than Surf The Ocean, but again super saturated and nice.
First up is a pale light white/pink. Next is a light champagne/peachy color. Then we have a deep chocolate bronze with heavy gold shimmer. Finally a medium violet with silver shimmer.
I love them all but I think the bronze is just beautiful.

MAC Surf Baby Lipglass

MAC Surf Baby Lipglass

Girl On Board, Strange Potion
Girl On Board is a very pale white gold color. Not a huge fan of this one, its a bit too pale for my tastes.
Strange Potion is a pink/coral color and it’s very pretty, especially great for summer I think.

MAC Powerpoint Eye Liner in Gilded White

MAC Powerpoint Eye Liner in Gilded White
Gilded White is a light white with gold shimmer. It’s a very soft pencil, nicely pigmented and a really pretty color, particularly for the inner eye area.

MAC Surf Baby Skinsheen Bronzer Stick

Tan-Tint, Gilty Bronze
The Skinsheen Bronzer Sticks can be used for contouring and adding some color or glow at the same time.
The packaging is pretty cool I think. I like how they twist up and feel sturdy and easy to pack.
These are really pigmented and super easy to blend into the skin.

Tan-Tint, Gilty Bronze (unblended)

Tan-Tint (blended)

Gilty Bronze (blended)
Tan-Tint is a tan bronze color. I believe it’s the lightest of the three Skinsheen Bronzer Tints and I could quite possibly pull it off, but it might be a little too dark for super fair skinned gals.
Gilty Bronze is deeper and has a major shimmer to it. I think this one is too dark and orange for my skin, but would look great on those with a darker complexion.

MAC Surf Baby Eye Shadow

MAC Surf Baby Eye Shadow

Swell Baby

Saffron

Surf USA

Swell Baby, Saffron, Surf USA
I was pretty pleased with the pigmentation with these eye shadows. I’ve been seeing a lot of shadows with less than ideal coverage lately from MAC so these were a nice surprise.
Swell Baby is a cool medium grey with a silvery shimmer. Love this color, I don’t think I have anything like it.
Saffron is a warm caramel/coral color. Looking at this in the pan I didn’t think it would look that great with my skin tone but actually I think it’s quite nice. A great color for making blue eyes stand out.
Surf USA is a gorgeous bright blue/green teal. This is my favorite one, the color is SO beachy and perfect. I love it next to Saffron, they make a killer combination.

MAC Surf Baby Ocean Dip

Ocean Dip
Ocean Dip is a medium bright blue aqua creme. This i a really pretty blue, very oceanic and again it totally says “summer water” to me. The formula wasn’t bad, it did take three coats for total coverage but it went on pretty smoothly and evenly.

MAC Surf Baby Lipstick

MAC Surf Baby Lipstick

Naturally Eccentric, Mocha
Naturally Eccentric is a very, very pale white/nude color. On me it looks really “mod” and 1960′s, which isn’t a bad thing necessarily, but maybe not the look everyone is going for. It’s very sheer and a bit streaky.
Mocha is a color I thought would be kind of boring, but turned out I liked it. It’s a warm, kind of brick colored yellow-brown. The pigmentation is really good and it’s quite different for me compared to all my other MAC lipsticks.

Gold-Go-Lightly (unblended)
Gold-Go-Lightly is a medium tan color. This is the lightest of these in Surf Baby and looks a little intimidating for fair-skinned folk. If you use a lighter hand than I did for this swatch and blend into your skin really well, it actually does work and doesn’t look too dark.

MAC Surf Baby Suntints SPF20 Liquid Lip Balm

Pink Tinge, Full Of Grace
This is my first time using the Suntints Liquid Lip Balms and WOW am I impressed!
First off I love the easy tube-style packaging and I love that they have SPF in them. I love the texture, they slide on super easily and aren’t too sticky. I was expecting a Lipglass texture but these are much smoother.
They do give off really nice shine, but not much color since they are really just tints, not glosses.
I love that they could be worn alone or over a lip liner or lipstick for more color. Fabulous!

Pink Tinge

Full Of Grace

Here’s a super simple quick look I used with some of the new products. I used:
Crushed Metallic Pigment Summer Stash in the light pink champagne color on inner 1/2 of eye
Crushed Metallic Pigment Summer Stash in the dark bronze on outer 1/2 of eye and halfway into crease
Surf, Baby! Cheek Powder My Paradise on cheeks
Strange Potion Lipglass on lips
Overall:
Really nice collection. I loved the packaging, but more importantly, I really liked most of the products. My favorite thing and I think probably what will sell out the fastest are the Crushed Metallic Pigments. They are just beyond amazing. The Cheek Powder in My Paradise is very pretty and a great summer color. I also really liked the eye shadows I tried as well as Strange Potion Lipglass and the Suntint Lip Balms. Oh and let’s not forget Ocean Dip Nail Lacquer which is a great blue. The items I would personally skip would be the Skinsheen Bronzer Tints and Studiocare Powders. I feel like the colors are not quite pale enough for me ideally, and are meant for darker skin tones.
Availability: For sale starting May 26th in North America
Pricing: $15.50-$32.50
SO what do we think of Surf Baby? See anything here that tickles your fancy?

The blue-grey and gold-bronze pigments are beautiful. Moca looks nice on you.

Thanks! I so love those pigments
I won’t be getting the pigment stacks, because I haven’t touched the ones from Spring Color Forecast. xP

Yay! I was waiting for your swatches before I finally decided what I wanted. Thank goodness I already have Strange Potion, but I think I love everything that you do. I was thinking My Paradise might be too pigmented for us pale girls, but it looks awesome on you. I know I want it at least!

Hmmm… I’m really like the eyeliner in Gilded White and Surf USA shadow. And I’ve been wanting Strange Potion a lot, still haven’t picked it up so I might have to now. Fun collection!
Those pigments are spectacular! They’re my favorites. I also love the lipstick Mocha.
Very pretty. I’ve always loved Mocha lipstick. A fave of mine.

Beautiful swatches as usual but I don’t like the packaging of this collection however the blush with the flower is super pretty.
I really really would like to buy the MAC Crushed Metallic Pigment Summer Stash. Sooo pretty!
Nice photos and review. I’m loving just about all of the eyeshadows, pigment, plus the others. I won’t be able to resist those, and perhaps the eyeliner, it was looking very pretty and brightening for the eyes…thanks!
Holy Cow- those pigments are unreal! That bronze is unbelievably stunning- and those aren’t wet? Wow. Hubba- hubba
The metallic pigments, I mean. I am floored by how saturated they are! (But the others are awesome, too)
The pigments are beautiful. And I’d add ‘Pink Tinge’ to my wish list as well.

I love both of the pigments, Strange Potion, Surf USA, Ocean Dip, and Full of Grace!
Love your look with these products, VV! Nothing is really calling out to me, but that’s good for my wallet.
Love that the Suntints have a higher SPF than 15 and also make your lips glossy. I always put a regular lip balm with SPF 15 on before my gloss, so this product would save me a step. Unfortunately my budget right now is super tight or I’d snatch these suckers up.
Thanks for the review and taking all those swatches!

I like the Strange Potion lipglass, the eyeliner as a highlight, and the polish. If I were to purchase anything, it would be the pigments, they look phenomenal.
Totally aprove MAC new collection, it is definitely amazing. Loved the intense colors and as usual, MAC made it in a awesome package. Didn’t like the lipglass thought, they seam a little sticky.. but of course, as a MAC lover, I’m definitely buying some of those metallic eyeshadow ! =)

thanks for your review ! I got the Gilty Bronze bronzing stick and the Surf USA eyeshadow today. I would have bought like the entire collection if MAC wasn’t overpriced here in Switzerland (I’m starting to think what’s not in Switzerland but anyway…)
