Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Angeles Palette Swatches, Photos & Review

I have a on again/off again love affair with the Kat Von D Eyeshadow Palettes. It’s mostly on, but there have been a few times where I was thinking “You’re just not doing it for me anymore, unless you change, I need to move on”. Well now we are definitely back ON!
The Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Angeles Palette is just gorgeous. When I first laid eyes on it on Sephora’s website I must admit, it looked a little lackluster to me. But those blue colors drew me in. That and the fact that I feel the need to own all of these palettes for some crazy reason.
I was most excited that there were no cream shadows because I don’t really like those much, but alas, there is one. BUT it’s super pretty!
The left side of the palette features really warm natural colors. The right side features cool blues and greens. I think this is a great color combo for summer because you can go with a warm toned eye in copper and brown or a cool “ocean” look in blue and green. These are mostly all pretty wearable colors and not a black matte shadow in sight!

Venus, Leather, Specimen, Rehab
Venus is a very intense pigmented shimmery copper color.
Leather is a dark chocolate brown matte with good pigmentation but not as much as the shimmery ones.
Specimen is a medium taupe brown pearl, again great pigmentation.
Rehab is a light peachy beige pearl with just “ok” pigmentation.
I love the first three and especially Venus because it’s CRAZY pigmented and soooo pretty on the eye (especially blue eyes).

Peggy, Bukowski, Bellbottom, Morphine
Peggy is a GORGEOUS medium turquoise green with yellow shimmer (hard to see here but in person it’s absolutely stunning, trust me). It’s my favorite color here and the whole palette was almost worth it for JUST this color alone!
Bukowski is a medium aqua blue pearl. Really good pigmentation here as well, very pretty.
Bellbottom is a greyed out lavender/blue pearl. This color is unique to anything else I own, it’s extremely pretty, and a very close second to me to Peggy in terms of my favorite color.
Morphine is a iridescent white/blue/lavender/green cream. So this is a cream but it’s really pretty. It reminds me a lot of OPI Breathe Life nail polish but in cream form. I am wearing it today as a highlight color under my brow and it’s really flattering, yet subtle.

Bellbottom on inner 1/2 of lid, Peggy on outer 1/2 and in crease and Morphine as highlight
Overall:
I am way more impressed with this palette than I expected to be. I love both the warm and cool colors, but the cool ones are what has me so excited. I think the palette is almost worth it just for Peggy and Bellbottom, but of course it helps that I like pretty much all of them (Rehab being the exception, it was nothing special but does make a good warm highlight color). I like that these are all very summery colors and I could totally see going on a beachy trip and taking only this palette for my eyeshadow.
Availability: Exclusive to Sephora
Pricing: $34.00
Let me know what you think about Angeles!

I really like what you did with the colors! So pastel and pretty… it kind of reminds me of sherbet!

Hi Vijaya,
Thanks!
I’m STILL kicking myself for not buying the Memento Mori palette (ugh, I’ve even been searching on ebay for it
) but this one has Peggy, which is my favorite Memento Mori color. I’m definitely not passing this one up.

Hi Jessi,
Yes that was a really great palette, possibly my favorite one from her, but this one is really good too! Peggy is amazing!
I love the right half of the palette! Bellbottom is just gorgeous and my kind of color.
Hi Amber,
Isn’t it pretty? Love it
I’m so up and down with Kat von D! I had one of her standard palettes (the neutral one, I forget the name) and thought it was terrible, but yet I have Memento Mori and I like it. I think that I like the colors in this one even more, though! Do I need it? No. Do I want it? Yes. Can I justify its purchase? We shall see
I am in such a tizzy about wanting to buy this and chastising myself over it that I forgot to mention that I generally hate her cream shadows, but this cream I think I would actually use.
Hi Lesley,
Yeah I agree with you about the creams, not my fav either. This is the best one I have seen her do so far.
Very pretty, I really like that look you created. What have you been using on your skin lately? You skin looks amazing in that pic!
Hi Tamika,
Thanks! I have on Clinique Superdefense SPF 25, Smashbox primer (which I am currently testing), Chanel Pro Lumiere foundation and a MAC Skinfinish (cannot remember which one)
On cheeks is NARS Super Orgasm blush.
I love it! May have to add this to my collection

Hi Krystal S,
I don’t know what the deal is with me needing them all, but I do. I like how they all look stacked up in my drawer. There is only one I don’t have thus far
That’s a beautiful palette.
Hi Sass,
Agreed
Wow, I really like all of the colors. I don’t usually buy palettes because I don’t like all of the colors. Now, I know what I am going to ask for, for my b-day next month.

Like bronze color
I love the blues/teals

I was worried the blues would be a bad trip down 1980s memory lane, but they aren’t. They look very soft and elegant, especially with your eye color. I think there might be one happy Karabela in the future. I think she has all of the Kat palettes.

Hi Phoebe,

I did an ‘ooh’, when I scrolled down and saw the palette colors, very pretty. And the look you did is so nice, you have mermaid eyes, lol. Really gorgeous!
I also feel a need to collect these palettes. Love these colours!

Wow I love that taupe!
I have a few of her palettes, but i hate that they include cream shadows in there, they end up drying out pretty fast.
Rosa´s last post…Friday the 13th Sale!
Kelly your goingt to make me buy this! I have them all and would buy it anyway. I do love the shadows in this. Really pretty shades. You also look gorgeous!
Anyone have suggestions on what brush they use for the cream eyeshadows? I’ve tried normal brushes and I find I have to push really hard to grab any colour…it feels almost dried out but it’s a new palette. Help!!!
Hi Shannon,
I use my finger actually, easier, more control I find.
