Clinique Superdefense

I have never been one to be consistently loyal to a skin care brand, especially when it comes to SPF lotions for my face.

Normally when I use something, even if I like it, when I am done with the bottle or tub I switch to something else. Perhaps it’s the bored Gemini in me. Or maybe because it’s I am never satisfied and constantly looking for something better.

Whatever the case may be, right now I am using the Clinique Superdefense SPF 25 Age Defense Moisturizer and really liking it so far. I believe I used this a decade or so ago also, but not positive if it was this exact one.

What I like about this is that is combines a good SPF amount (I prefer an SPF of at least 25 in the spring/summer) and a moisturizer, which I am really needing now that I am using Retin-A and it’s SUPER drying.

Clinique has a few different options of Superdefense SPF 25 available which include dry to very dry, dry combination (what I am using) and combination oily to oily.

There are two things I am not crazy about though.

For one the scent, while not bad is a little “sunscreen-esque”, but not overly so.

The other thing which is kind of a double-edge sword is the tub it comes in. While I like that it’s thick and feels really moisturizing in this form, I also would rather not dip my fingers into it over and over. But usually if something comes in a squeeze tube, it’s a thinner product, so I do get why it’s sold this way.

But neither of those things are deal breakers.

I’ve been using this every day now for a week and haven’t had any break-outs and my skin does feel nice. It sinks into the skin fairly easily and doesn’t feel sticky or heavy at all.

For my skin which needs moisture but is a little oily in the t-zone, this works really well. I love that it’s a higher than SPF 15, and a little goes a long way.

Availability: Sephora, Macy’s, Nordstrom, etc.

Pricing: $42.50 for 1.7 oz (which seems expensive but it does last a long time from what I remember in the past)

What is your favorite SPF/moisturizer combo product?
