Misa Paradise Shore Collection for Summer 2011, Swatches, Photos & Review

Misa Paradise Shore Misa Paradise Shore Collection for Summer 2011, Swatches, Photos & Review

So glad to be back and faster than eva!

Misa has a new collection for summer 2011 called Paradise Shore. This consists of six new glass-flecked and shimmery colors.

Now I’m all about glass-flecked polishes, I love them but for me to REALLY love them, they have to be opaque. A few of these fell quite flat in that department, giving me a very sheer look even after 3 coats. Disappointing but let’s take a closer look.

Misa Under My Sunbrella Misa Paradise Shore Collection for Summer 2011, Swatches, Photos & Review
Under My Sunbrella

Under My Sunbrella is a bright warm yellow with orange undertones and yellow flecks. Normally these warmish yellows clash with my skintone and I kind of feel like this one does as well. It looks decent close up but from a distance not so great for me personally. This one as you can see was a bit sheer, even after 3 coats I didn’t get opacity.

Misa Mega Margarita Misa Paradise Shore Collection for Summer 2011, Swatches, Photos & Review
Mega Margarita

Mega Margarita is a pale “margarita” green color with yellow/green flecks. This is a great color, very nice for spring and summer, but I was very disappointed with the sheerness. This is three coats and definitely the most sheer one here. I don’t even think four coats would fully cover my nail line.

Misa Krystal Water Misa Paradise Shore Collection for Summer 2011, Swatches, Photos & Review
Krystal Water

Krystal Water is a light blue with blue flecks and is more metallic in finish. The color is pretty enough and it did cover a little better than the previous two, but nothing all that unique here.

Misa Endless Keys Misa Paradise Shore Collection for Summer 2011, Swatches, Photos & Review
Endless Keys

Endless Keys is a bright tangerine orange with yellow flecks. This one wound up being my favorite, much to my surprise. I love the color and the yellow flecks make it super pretty and eye-catching. Again we had some sheer issues here, but after three coats I got pretty good coverage. I think four might be ideal (ugh).

Misa Summer Love Misa Paradise Shore Collection for Summer 2011, Swatches, Photos & Review
Summer Love

Summer Love is a bright fuchsia pink with light pink flecks. This is another of my favorites because I just love any fuchsia pink and love the shimmer in it. However I don’t think the color itself is that unique anymore. This has much better coverage and after three coats was mostly totally opaque.

Misa Mermaid Dreams Misa Paradise Shore Collection for Summer 2011, Swatches, Photos & Review
Mermaid Dreams

Mermaid Dreams is a medium blue with blue shimmer. This rather than being glass-flecked seems more metallic like Krystal Water is. I got really nice opacity with this one and three coats was enough. Nice color, again not that unique to me.

Overall:
I think there are some great colors in here, but I am really wishing that they were more opaque. The must haves for me are Endless Keys and Summer Love. I do really like Under My Sunbrella also, but it’s not great with my particular skin tone.

Availability: e-Tailers now

Pricing: $2.75 and up

So what do we think of Paradise Shore?

Very pretty in the bottles, leaves much to be desired on the nails though :(

  • See, I would not buy Summer Love based on how it looks in the bottle… I think it’s much prettier on nails. I WOULD buy Mega Margarita based on the bottle, but since it’s not as pretty on nails, I’d have to layer it. Hm.

Have you every tried to put the sheerer polishes over a ridge filler base coat? They usually are white and with that as a base the colors become more opaque.

I like the idea (bright colors & glass flecks), but they look kind of unoriginal. The sheerness is a deal-breaker.

Oooh, I love the colors and the glass fleck, but the sheerness is just not for me!

  • Every company is doing these brights for summer. I feel like this is just ‘same old’ and the formula does NOT sound appealing.

V V i love your swatches…and thru you i started working on my pink problem..so i now have pinks in my stash..i also found these sheer but i now use a milky white basecoat that i DR.’d with nailife ridge filler and it gives me such good coverage even with sheer . nice post and these colors made me wish for warmer weather-since we had hail, snow, rain all week.-these were a pick-me -up on my fingertips. :)

Endless Keys seems to be the most original. I’d like to see how they all look layered over a black polish.

  • I don’t know… The blues look too close in color to be in the same collection, at least to my eye. The flecked ones look nice, but I will only pick the green one up and perhaps use it for layering.

  • Very pretty colors, but too sheer for me!

  • Endless Keys will be mine. LOVE IT. Summer Love looks like China Glaze Endurance, except with the light pink flecks. It’s gorgeous though.

  • Misa is my fav brand and I was really looking forward to this collection, especially for the yellow and the green ( I love everything margarita-related ), but I’m very disappointed about the polishes being so sheer. The colors are perfect, but VNL is not my kind of look. Thank you so much for swatching these, you saved me money.

Whereas I love the semi-sheer glass flecks best. This just bumped several of these onto my Must Get list. :) Thanks!

  • Endless Keys makes me think of fresh squeezed orange juice on the nail. It looks delicious! I think overall I’d probably pass on these ones, nothing that unique and the sheerness is offputting.

A milky base coat (Orly Nail Armor for me) or color coordinated creme would make these easy to wear. Unfortunately, I find nothing but the pink to be terribly appealing and I have plenty of sparkly and glass flecked fuchsias already.

I love Under My Sunbrella and Endless Keys. Usually I’d go for the green. This green I have quite a few of the same shade.

  • Summer Love and Endless Keys are the only ones I like. I might only get Endless Keys. Come on Misa, you’re falling off the map for me. Do some more of your older awesome colors!
