Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour Swatches, Photos & Review

Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour Swatches, Photos & Review

It seems lately everyone is coming out with “baked” eyeshadows, blushes and bronzers and I gotta say, I like it!

The Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour’s come in just five colors now (Black Karat, Terracotta, Lagoon, Petal Pink and Violet Sky), but wow do they pack a punch.

As with most baked products (except cake, haha) you can use these either dry or wet, for even more color impact.

Mmmm now my mind wanders to cake…What’s your favorite kind of cake? Mine is white cake with vanilla butter-cream filling and frosting. icon smile Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour Swatches, Photos & Review

I found these shadows to be extremely soft and had amazing color payoff. Instant love at first swatch here.

Black Karat, Terracotta (dry)

Black Karat is an antique olive green with heavy gold shimmer. Just absolutely gorgeous, opaque, soft and amazing. And this is dry!

Terracotta is a warm orange/copper color with shimmer. Another very gorgeous shade, this will really make blue eyes stand out especially.

I didn’t even try these wet because I didn’t feel the need to. Normally I don’t use shadow wet if it’s got major saturation dry because it’s just another step for one lazy-ass person. icon wink Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour Swatches, Photos & Review

Overall:

If you love soft shadows with huge payoff then I think you’ll love these. I am interested in checking out Lagoon and Violet Sky also.

Availability: Sephora and Laura Mercier’s website

Pricing: $22.00

Do you like or not like baked eyeshadows? What do you think about these two colors?

Those are beautiful! I am really loving Laura Mercier lately and these swatches just confirm it for me. I wonder if they would have a lot of fall out though . . .

    • Hi Tamika,

I haven’t yet used them on my eye but am thinking there will be some fallout because they are so soft and have shimmer.

  • Wow, Black Karat is awesome! I was actually looking at these at Sephora online yesterday, and wondering what they looked like, so thanks for the swatches =). And I could use some cake now too… or just some buttercream frosting …

  • Black Karat is so pretty! And wow, that is awesome pigmentation! One of my favorite cakes is dulce de leche and its funny you mention about caked not being wet, because this one sometimes is!

    • Hi Jessi,

Do you know, I don’t think I have ever tried dulce de leche cake? That’s kind of crazy because I am a HUGE cake fan!

  • I like Black Karat too. Your favorite cake is my fave too! I actually had that for my wedding. :) Actually, that’s the last time I had that kind of cake. Simple but tasty.

    • Hi Naomi,

I was actually going to say “wedding cake” because that’s what I think of, but thought people do so many different things with wedding cakes now. I could use a HUGE slice right now!

  • So pretty! They don’t have the fallout problem of the MAC mineralized eye shadows, do they?

    • Hi Amy,

I have yet to try on my eye, but I think they might have some fallout just because of the shimmer and they’re soft. But the colors make it worth it for me :)

Hi Kelly! I was just wondering how these compare to Milani baked Eyeshadows in terms of quality. Do these justify the price? Thanks!

    April 13, 2011
    • Hi AndreaC,

Good question! I would have to really compare side by side, but I do think the Laura Mercier ones are on the expensive side and the Milani’s ARE very good quality. Both are really saturated and soft, but with Laura Mercier, you are of course paying also for her name and the fact that it’s considered a “high-end” company, so you have to weigh that in. I have yet to try the LM ones on my eye, but as far as finger swatching and color payoff goes, I think they are pretty equal from what I’ve seen.

Thanks for the answer. :-) Like with wet N’ wild (of which I’m also a fan), sometimes drugstore brands can be as good as a $$$ brand, other times spending more is totally worth it.

I agree with the rest of the commenters…I like Black Karat! My favorite cake is red velvet with cream cheese frosting. Although, The Cheesecake Factory has a red velvet cheesecake that is extremely fantastic. Now I want cake…

CAKE! Yes. Love it. The frosting is the best part. I can make a vegan chocolate cupcake with vegan vanilla “butter”cream frosting. You can’t taste the difference. :)

Ooh, great color payoff. I’ve nearly picked up some of these about a million times, but for some reason I haven’t taken the plunge yet. Next time I’m playing with one in Sephora… you never know ;-)
My favorite cake is yellow cake with chocolate frosting, yummmm. Of course, cake is cake, if someone is baking it, just about any flavor, I’ll happily have a slice, lol.

These are gorgeous! I love both of them and what saturation….fave cake is white cake with 7 minute frosting! YUM :) Definitely a happy dessert.

I love baked products. I’ve used Laura Geller’s for years. I never wet the eye shadows since the color payout is great. These are some lovely shades.
