Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection for Summer 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review

Color Club has two new 7-piece collections out for summer and I’ve got Wicked Sweet covered today.
Wicked Sweet features 7 bright colors that are also scented once dry. I personally don’t really “get” the scented nail polish trend, it seems very gimmicky to me and I don’t really understand the point of it. I think it’s kinda cool that they really do smell like something, but I don’t have any need to smell my nails. The only one I even remembered to smell once it was dry was Get Your Lem-on, and it really did smell lemon-y, but not TOO much.
The formula was a little sheer for this collection for most of them. A few stayed see-through even after three coats.

L to R: Yum Gum, I Always Get My Man-Darin, The Lime Starts Here, Get Your Lem-On
Yum Gum is a cotton candy pink creme. This one was actually pretty thick but didn’t go on very evenly. I wound up having to do three coats for total coverage.
I Always Get My Man-Darin is a tangerine (or mandarin) orange with yellow/green shimmer. I love that it had the shimmer, that made it more fun for me. It was a bit sheer, but did cover quite nicely after three coats.
The Lime Starts Here is a bright lime green. This baby is very sheer, I used three coats here and was nowhere near getting my nail line covered.
Get Your Lem-on is a neon yellow with blue/green shimmer. Again I loved the shimmer in this, but it was also extremely sheer. I used three coats and couldn’t get complete coverage.

L to R: Wicked Sweet, Gimmie A Grape Big Kiss, Raspberry Rush
Wicked Sweet is a medium shimmery blue. Once again I had issues of sheerness, and after three coats it still wasn’t opaque.
Gimmie A Grape Big Kiss is a bright purple pink. This was on the thinner, more easy to control side, but again too sheer for me! This was three coats.
Raspberry Rush is a bright poppy pink creme. This is the star of the collection for me, which is kind of odd. I loved this pink shade, loved how shiny it looks, and it had really nice opaque formula. This is the only one that was two coats.

Overall:
I’m not bowled over by this collection at all. I liked I Always Get My Man-Darin and Raspberry Rush, but wasn’t thrilled with the formula of the others. I felt all the colors themselves were nice, but I just want total coverage in a polish. Always.
Availability: Online
Pricing: $3.00 and up
So what do we think about these?

Get Your Lem-on is gorgeous! Though I have to agree, I HATE sheer polishes

Yeah, agreed – I think Raspberry Rush is really the only one I like here. When I saw your swatch I immediately said “wow” – which says to me, maybe I should buy it. :p
I love the Raspberry shade. I often sit with my chin resting on my palm, so my nails are by my nose a lot, lol. I’d get them if I saw them at Ross.
I really like I Always Get My Man-Darin as well, but am kind of curious to see how it compares to ChG Papaya Punch! All these colors look really fun, but I feel like none of them are unique.

I actually like most of these colors and don’t really mind sheer polishes. They seem just right for the summer season.

That bold pink really pops!

Hmm, I’m torn. I personally like smelly polishes and I smell them all the time. BUT, I wouldn’t trade a great formula or color for a polish that just smelled good. Color Club has so many other great neons that it would be better to just get those.

Meh. They look pretty on your nails, but I’m not feeling the sheerness. Of the two, I definitely prefer Starry Temptress. Thanks for the swatches!

I’m with you – totally am not on board the scented nail-polish trend. It does seem like a gimmick, and I don’t tend to smell my nails.
The green shimmer on the orange one looks interesting!

Gorgeous!!
I really want this collection!
I totally agree with you and everyone else who doesnt get the scented nail polish thing. To be fair, I have not tried any, but I don’t see the point. It actually made me decide NOT to buy a Revlon one I saw….I read “scented” and it totally turned me off, though I cant really explain why. It does see gimmicky and I would rather the smell “effort” be put into better formulas and colors instead

Those are kinda boring. I only really like the raspberry rush and for $3 it is worth it.
i like the tangerine one but im usually not patient enough to do three coats:/.
the smell is gimmicky, but a gimmick that i’d probably enjoy. i bought a pack of fruity scented markers so i could make smelly notes haha.
i mean mandarin, not tangerine!
The colors look nice however, for the price, (43/00 each) I worry about the sheerness of each. Bright, bold vibrant and pretty Easter-like colors though. I just ordered Zoya and some china Glaze Crackle Nail glaze and was afraid I made a mistake when I saw these. I think I will pass on these for next time. They are cute for that new Rabbit/Egg movie that just came out, Hop! LOL
Love,

I really like the shimmer in I Always Get My Man-Darin and Get Your Lem-on but am not so thrilled by the sheerness of Lem-on. If I had the opportunity to pick these up I would propbably pass on them since the only other one that intrigues me is Raspberry Rush and I already own Zoya’s Katy, which I think is similar enough.
I grabbed the set at Ross last week, just because I don’t have many neon colors, so for $8 I figured ‘Why not?’. I actually didn’t even noticed that they were scented until I got them home, lol. I don’t know exactly what the point of scented polish is either, but I guess it adds a fun little extra. I did notice how sheer many of the colors were, so I’m glad I didn’t pay more for them, but for that price, I’m ok with it. Maybe I’ll layer them or something. Thanks for the swatches so I could see what they look like on the nail!
I am loving ‘I Always Get My Man-darin’!

This is totally against how I’ve purchased CC in the past but, will probably wait til they are at Ross before purchasing. There are too many sheers here to make it fun to polish. Love the colors. Would love it more if they were opaque in two coats.

cute colors! Ive seen this brand sold at Ross many times especially in sets
I think that because of the coverage issues I’ll stick to Poolside, although these colours are divine!
I love Raspberry Rush, the rest is kinda… boring. I don’t like shimmer, so that a negative.

Raspberry Rush is the only one for me. I love hot pinks like that. They look cute skittled here but I’ve seen all the shades before from Models Own.

I’m going to skip this collection. Not my favorites. I also have the Revlon polishes with a scent. That’s enough for me.
The Lime Starts Here is a must, Gimmie A Grape Big Kiss, Raspberry Rush appeal to me, Yum Gum is also fun. I like them, Color Club has great neons imo. Dear Kelly, could you tell me if I Always Get My Man-Darin is somehow similar to China Glaze Sun Worshipper?
I’ll pick up Raspberry Rush, for sure!
