Color Club Starry Temptress Collection for Summer 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review
Starry Temptress is the second collection from Color Club for this summer.
Starry Temptress includes neon colors, but with a slight twist. They have holographic glitter in them! You don’t find that very often, in fact I’m not sure I have anything like it.
They also include a glittery holographic top coat with the set, which can give you even more sparkle if you so desire.
The formula on these was much, much better than Wicked Sweet I found. These were thicker, but not in a bad way, and covered all in two coats, no problem! One thing I noticed was that the glitter kind of settled into the polish color so it didn’t look as sparkly as you might expect. Not sure I love that, I need to try with the top coat to see how that makes it look.
Starry Temptress
You Got Soul-ar, Ultra-Astral, Space Case, Glittery Top Coat on its own
You Got Soul-ar is a bright kind of tangerine orange. This is my kind of orange, I really like it with my skin tone.
Ultra-Astral is a fuchsia pink. Again really great color and perfect for summer.
Space Case is a cotton candy pink.
The top coat is a clear base with holographic glitter.
Wink, Wink, Twinkle, Otherworldly, Glitter Envy
Wink, Wink, Twinkle is a bright violet and possibly my favorite one. So bright and fun!
Otherworldly is a bright amazing blue.
Glitter Envy is a neon light green.
Overall:
I definitely like these more than the previous neon collection from Color Club for summer. The colors themselves are nothing to get excited about but the holo glitter is what makes this collection more interesting (if not more of a PITA to remove) and unique. The stand-out colors for me were Wink, Wink, Twinkle, You Got Soul-ar and Ultra-Astral.

I swear the look of these remind me of some sort of candy, but I can’t think of what. In pictures they look like white nonpareils sprinkles in candy coating. I’d have to see them in person to decide if I like them, although the colors are pretty.

I very rarely ever do just one nail swatches, but was sick when I got these and didn’t have the energy to fully swatch this and their other collection (14 total).

Wicked Sweet was shockingly poor. Sheer and watery. This release is a LOT better. Not great by any means. Pretty well anything beats Wicket Sweet though…I like Soul and Astral.

I just got this collection and LOVE it. The topcoat definietly “makes” the colors. Ultra-Astral was my fav! Way better than the Wicked Sweet collection….I had no interest in that one!

They are definitely holo, but not overly so. The glitter does tend to kind of settle and not sit right on top of the polish, so they don’t look as holo as say a truly holograph polish would.

I think the whole point of the glitter was to settle…more like a starry night, they’re almost granite or stonelike in finish I thought, but can see the glitter being stars….if the sky turned neon that is. I loved them and definately worth the 7 bucks I paid for ‘em at Ross.
The holo makes these neons more interesting than the same ol same neons that show up almost every summer.

I already have Wink, Wink, Twilnkle and it’s awesome. I definitely need Ultra-Astral and probably the green, blue, light pink ones.. I thought I should pass the orange but since you recommend it.. wow, I’ll end up having the whole collection !

You could always try the trick to lightly wipe your nail with remover to uncover the glitter a little. I wonder how they’d look like that.

I just may order this collection. I love Color Clubs glitters.
Not feeling either of these collections. But IMO no neon collection can ever beat the epic-ness of Electro-Candy.
I bought Ultra-Astral, and it’s a total dupe of Warhol! (Except for the glitters of course). This collection was a bit disappointing, especially since their previous collections had so many pretties!
