Borghese Rapido Fast Dry Nail Lacquer Swatches & Review

Borghese has a new line of nail lacquers out called Rapido Fast Dry Nail Lacquer.
These are quick-drying polishes that currently come in 12 different colors and finishes.

I haven’t reviewed a ton of Borghese on here because I don’t often come across colors that I feel the need to own. I did want to check these out though because I love anything that dries fast and I wanted to see how the formula was.
Overall yes, they do dry quickly but there is a caveat, at least with two of the three colors I tried. They were very sheer so you need three coats, which makes them take longer to dry. If they were one coaters, they would dry uber-quickly, but since you need three, it doesn’t make that much of a difference for dry time if you use a quick-dry top coat with them, unfortunately.

Mochaccino
Mochaccino is a medium brown/purple taupe with light pink and blue shimmer running throughout. This is a good color once it’s built up but it was very thin and almost watery for the first couple coats. I do like the color, but don’t think it’s completely original anymore since there are sooooooo many taupes out there now.

Marino
Marino is a medium bright blue creme. I had expected this one to be super opaque by looking at it and was surprised when it was extremely sheer going on. However it did build up nicely after three coats. Nothing too original again though.

Chroma
Chroma is a silver foil and the most opaque of the bunch. Very nice foil effect and this one was only two coats. Since foils and metallics tend to dry quicker than most polish anyway, and it took less coats, I can say this one did feel like a quick-dry polish.
Overall:
Hard to judge a whole collection from just three, I would like to check out the green and purple ones to see how those colors and finishes work. I don’t think any of these colors here are very unique, but all still nice.
Availability: Drugstores
Pricing: $7-9 depending on what deals are going on
What do you think of these?

Hmmm… Well, I only have 3 or 4 Borghese colors myself, pretty much for the same reasons, they don’t generally excite me very much. While these colors are all nice enough, there’s nothing I don’t already have in my collection. Mochaccino is really pretty, I like the different colored shimmer particles in it, but I don’t know that they would show up enough for me to grab the color up when I already have several similar shades. Chroma must be reflecting off of something in your photo, your middle finger almost makes it look like there’s a bit of pink or purple sparkle to it, but alas, I think it’s just a trick of lighting. Marino reminds me of either the Orly or Finger Paints teal-y Spring color, I can’t remember which, but I think it’s the Orly I’m thinking of. All pretty colors, nothing I can’t live without
Hi UneLuneBlue,
Agreed, nothing here that people will be clamoring to get I don’t think. I saw swatches of some of the greens and THEY looked really nice!
I don’t own a single Borghese nail polish – was never drawn to them. Had no idea that they even had fast-dry polishes, either.
As superficial as it sounds, I don’t like the bottle, and sometimes that’s enough to repel me from buying a polish (unless the colour is out of this world).
And the cap reminds me of those pull-n-peel licorice candies. Not a bad thing. Not a good thing. Just my first impression because sometimes I’m weird like that.
Out of the three you were kind enough to swatch, Chroma looked the coolest.

Hi Mary,
I am in complete agreement with you about the bottle. It’s very unattractive to me and very 80′s looking, which puts me off the polish itself. I am definitely one to notice aesthetically pleasing shapes and wish they would update their bottles!
I like the few Borghese polishes that I have. The formula is good as well as the brush. I’ll probably pick up a few of these on a sale.
ooh i love the silver polish, i want it now
I guess I’m the odd one out, I love the Borghese bottles! The swirly, ridged cap is similar to the makeup packaging and my mom’s been a lifelong Borghese user so maybe it’s nostalgia. None of these colors really jump out at me though.

I have some Borgheses, and only one of the Rapido polishes (Anemone, the pinkish purple in your bottle pic of the line). They are expensive at SDM here, $13.99, which I refuse to pay for boring colours. The first 4 I got with points on my Optimum card, when they switched over to the new system (actually I got $300 worth of stuff, only about $50 of which was polish
). I like the ones I have and the formula on the regular polish is pretty good.

I kind of like the blue one.

Nice shades but nothing different. What is the use of a quick dry if you have to do three layers!
The top of the bottles look like tampons :p
On the polishes, I have to agree with you: pretty colors, but nothing special
HAHAHA! I thought it looked like pull-n-peel licorice candies, but when you mention tampons…YES, it totally does! Hahah!

I love the shimmer in Mochaccino a lot!

The shimmer in mochachino is very very pretty! If you don’t have a color like this already, maybe this one would be nice!
Chroma is pretty but I’ve got to say that I don’t really like the formula on Borghese, which is a shame because there are some pretty colors.
Is Marino a dupe (or close enough to not need it) to any other blue polish? I’m getting way too many blues lately. I feel like I need to haul my stash with me when I’m shopping to do comparisons. lol
The caps of theese reminds me baaadly of tampons…
