Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trios for Spring 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review

Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trios

Wet n Wild recently released their new Color Icon Eyeshadow Trios for spring 2011 and they are all really nice!

Actually the release might be not-so-recent by now, but I was in the hunt to get them all before I swatched them (yes I’m that anal) so here they are.

  • I’m Getting Sunburned
  • I’m Feeling Retro
  • I Got Good Jeans
  • Spoiled Brat
  • Silent Treatment
  • I Dream Of Greenie

I am super impressed with these I have to say. Wet n Wild is no longer the same company as they were when I started wearing makeup with them in the glory days of 1985.

All these are so soft and pigmented. They might be on the verge of being a little too soft, because a lot of the palettes in the store were broken a bit. They are so soft they almost crumble and have a little bit more fallout than a typical shadow, but that doesn’t put me off of them at all.

As with their other recent eyeshadow palettes, these tell you exactly where to place the colors, which is great for those a little unsure or newer to makeup.

Let’s look closer.

I’m Getting Sunburned is a somewhat neutral palette featuring a shimmery candy colored pink, deep chocolate/bronze with bronze glitter and warm copper gold with gold glitter.

I like the pink, but really love the bronze and copper. They are so gorgeous and pigmented. You would think the bronze would wind up being chalky because usually dark glittery colors seem chalky and patchy, but it’s gorgeous.

I’m Feeling Retro features a metallic white/silver, medium blue and vivid purple/pink.

Of all these trios, this was the least pigmented one I felt, however it still gave off pretty good color. I absolutely love that purple color, it’s almost duochrome-y looking.

I Got Good Jeans is a very nice trio featuring a very metallic light blue/silver, deep shimmery navy blue and medium gold with a slight greenish cast.

I love this one a lot, the colors go together so nicely and all were so saturated!

Spoiled Brat is the “wild” trio. Reminds me of colors you would see in the 80′s! It features a metallic silver, matte black with silver glitter and fuchsia pink.

Again I love this combo of colors and the pink is so pretty. The black wasn’t as pigmented as I hoped for though.

Silent Treatment is what I would classify as the “professional” trio. All the colors are more subdued and would work in a conservative office place. It features a pale peachy/pink, dark brown with subtle gold glitter and a deep taupe-y/plum.

I wore this one first and loved the combination. The taupe/plum color is SO soft and nice and looks really good with the brown in the crease.

I Dream Of Greenie is the green palette and very appropriate for spring. It features a pale metallic green, medium shimmery grass green and bright yellow/green with yellow glitter.

This is the first one my eye went to because I am obsessed with green eyeshadow (AND nail polish). It’s so fresh looking and somehow always makes my blue/grey eyes really pop. The yellow/green color here wasn’t as pigmented as I hoped it would be, but it’s still decent. I love them all together, very nice.

Overall:

Love them all! There isn’t a single one of these that I wouldn’t wear. I love all the color combinations and almost all the shadows were just perfection on a stick. For the price especially, they are definitely worth hunting down!

Availability: Walgreens or where ever Wet n Wild is sold (these can be really hard to find though!)

Pricing: $2.99

What are you thinking about these? Are they worth hunting down to you?

I have a few of these and love them. Wet n Wild was my absolute first makeup purchase as a 12-year-old. I finally convinced my mom to let me wear makeup, so I took my hard earned money to the drug store and purchased the Wet n Wild eyeshadow duo in the pale pink/pale blue combo.

      Hi Jeannine,

Haha! I totally remember going to the drug store with my best friend and getting black and blue eyeliner and mascara :)

That is funny you just posted this today Kelly! two day’s ago I bought at Walgreens. Silent Treatment, I love it! I have it on today too! i don’t buy much wet N Wild eye makeup hardly anymore, but noticed it and decided i would give it a try. I like it! I think ill by some of the other ones as well.

    • March 17, 2011

      Hi stephanie,

Cool! Their stuff is way better than it ever used to be, they have some cool items out now :)

  • March 17, 2011

I have Silent Treatment – really nice!

    • March 17, 2011

      Hi Naomi,

      I love that one!

  • March 17, 2011

I tend to snub cheap brands like these, somehow convincing myself that their cheap price directly reflects their quality. I tried a few of these new trios though, and I was so wrong! These shadows are wonderful!

    • March 17, 2011

      Hi Katie,

I am the same way with a lot of cosmetics. But I have learned that sometimes the really good stuff IS really inexpensive :)

So bummed no hunting can be done over here :-(
Like the I’m Getting Sunburned and Silent Treatment a lot!

      Hi DalaLuz,

      Awww sorry!

“all the shadows were just perfection on a stick” *giggle* You get a thumbs up for “on a stick”. :P

I have a number of the trios including some of the 6 pan palettes (though I’ve never managed to get my hands on the 8 pan palettes. Oh, Comfort Zone, you will be mine!). So far I really like them. They truly are a far cry from the Wet n Wild offerings of old that I remember (eyeshadow-wise). In terms of color I Dream of Greenie is the loveliest, but you’re right – Silent Treatment is very professional looking and I’d say it practically applies itself!

    • March 17, 2011

      Hi origami,

Haha glad you liked that :)

I had a hard time finding Comfort Zone also and a lot of the ones I did find were totally broken, wah.

        Hi!

Ugh, sounds like my hunt for Silent Treatment. Every time I would find a lone palette hiding somewhere it would be broken! But I managed to snag an unbroken one yesterday and I am so pleased I didn’t give up. :D

I Got Good Jeans and Silent Treatment are my favourites. Thanks for taking sharp photos and swatches of these palettes, Kelly!

I got all four of the LE 6 pan palettes that were available around the holidays, a few of the 3 pans, and one of the 8 pan palettes (Comfort Zone). They are all great and the price is great, especially when you get them during a 50% off sale! Thanks for posting these!

      Hi Kelly,

Cool, happy you found so many of them!

    Jenn F.

With their reasonable price and beautiful colors I would like to track them down. I especially love I Dream Of Greenie, Silent Treatment (fun colors to wear to work), and I’m Getting Sunburned. I’m recently very surprised by what WnW is bringing out. I remember it being very low-quality when I was growing up. It’s nice that affordable companies are bringing out cool products!

    • March 17, 2011

      Hi Jenn F.,

I know I am very pleased with everything I have seen from them lately.

They’re all so pretty. When they’re in stock, don’t hesitate to buy. They’re hard to find, for some reason.

    • March 17, 2011

      Hi Tammy,

Took me weeks to find the last two I wanted!

    megan

Hey kelly….thanks for the review. Could you tell me if the plum/taupe color in Silent Treatment is similar to MAC Satin Taupe? Thanks

    • March 18, 2011

      Hi megan,

I think the WnW one is more plum less taupe than Satin Taupe.

  • March 17, 2011

Oh, I love these! I bought I Dream of Greenie and I’m Feeling Retro as my re-introduction into eye makeup after going without for about two years. They really are nice – and cheap, too!

I grabbed up I’m Feeling Retro and I Dream of Greenie as soon as I saw them. Then I was going back and forth on I’m Getting Sunburned, but decided to give it a try anyway, glad I did, love it! WnW has certainly come a long way!

I just wore I Dream of Greenie for Chicago’s St. Pat’s parade last Saturday. I thought maybe I was crazy thinking those bright greens really made my blue/gray eyes pop. Thanks for verifying that for me!

  • March 17, 2011

I would like to have them all, but like you said, they are hard to find, one day you see them, the other day theres none and Walt-Mart (like always) dosnt have new stuffs from Wet n’ Wild.

I have Silent Treatment and I Dream of Greenie. Although it looks pretty bright in the palette, the latter is surprisingly wearable. And the taupe in Silent Treatment is worth more than $2.99 all by itself.

I have all of these except the green one! I was a little scared of it, but I just may have to give it a try ;-) I totally agree with you, these are great quality and you don’t have to “think” about which colors you are going to pair together. I also loved Silent Treatment….I was also surprised at how much I liked I’m Feeling Retro too! They are all great. I love when Walgreen’s has the “buy 1 get 1 half off” sale on Wet N Wild!

I loved Silent Treatment….I ended up breaking all the shadows in it but the brown, so I need a new one, but I still use the brown one almost every day.

I just got all six of them at Walgreens. They had one or two left of all of them except the Spoiled Brat, they where out of that one. I happended to look at the shelf below the display and…yaaaa…I saw where one was not in the right place. I snatched it up!

I have a few and love them! Silent Treatment is my favorite and it really makes my eyes pop and isn’t as flashy as some of the other combos.

I love I Dream of Greenie :) Any chance of seeing these on you? I always find my opinion changes between basic swatches and actual wear.
