Physicians Formula has some new colors of their Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Shadow & Liner palettes in a collection called Eye Candy.

As with previous Shimmer Strips collections, these are all based on certain eye colors: blue, green, brown and hazel.

The idea that Physicians Formula has behind these is that you have 9 shades, 3 trios (first 3, second 3, last 3 are each considered a “trio”) and 3 liners (the darkest shade in each trio) thereby having a wide variety of different looks you can pull off with just one palette. The first trio in each collection is called Natural. The second is called Playful and the third is called Dramatic.

The colors in these palettes pretty much go from light to dark with one bright, seemingly out of place color thrown in about halfway down. But the out of place ones are the coolest ones!

You can use these dry or wet for more saturation. They come with a little sponge tip applicator, which I wouldn’t really use, I prefer an actual brush.

5th – vivid purple/pink
6th – dark brownish bronze
7th – orange gold
8th – deep warm coppery brown
9th – dark cool chocolate brown

All the colors in this palette were exceptionally saturated and amazing. They glide onto skin so easily and are also very blend-able.

I really love all of these, this might be the best palette of them all. And these coppery/gold/brown colors make my blue eyes really pop!

5th – pinkish red
6th – medium deep navy blue
7th – pale lavender blue
8th – pale cornflower blue
9th – dark navy blue

Most of the colors in this collection were just as opaque as the brown set, with a couple exceptions. The 7th and 8th colors were very pale and I had a harder time getting them to show up on my skin.

I love the very unexpected pink/red color and the first 4 blues especially are really nice.

5th – grass green
6th – deep royal purple
7th – deep blue/violet
8th – deep grape purple
9th – dark eggplant purple

The first four colors here, which are all fairly light were still decently saturated, but not as much as say the first four colors in the brown or blue sets.

I really love the 4th color though, such a gorgeous shade of a pinky/purple, and nice and bright. The green is great also with these purples. On of my latest favorite combos is green and purple. 🙂

Overall:

I think these are all really cool palettes and am happy with every single one. The amount of combinations you can come up with is kind of mind-boggling, especially if you have a few of them! The one caveat is there is no matte color, so unless you like a super shimmery brow bone are, you would still have to use something else as a highlight color.

Availability: CVS

Pricing: $10.99, but they frequently go on sale (and CVS has a good membership card so you can get coupons all the time)

Which of these palettes appeals to you? Have you tried these yet?
