Lippmann Collection Spring 2011 Collection Swatches, Photos & Review

Lippmann Collection has two new spring colors out in the shades Naked and Glitter In The Air.
Both of these are pale, almost sheer polishes, giving you just a hint of actual color on your nails. Glitter In The Air however includes some very fun glitter pieces.
Glitter In The Air was partially inspired by Pink’s Grammy Award performance when she was wrapped in a sheer body suit with sparkles. It was also the color chosen at the Badgley Mischka show at Fashion Week.
Naked is a shiny nude beige, and the color of choice at four influential shows during Fashion Week. Anne Hathaway wore Naked at the Academy Awards last Sunday as well.

Naked

Naked
Naked is as the name implies, a naked looking clean nude beige color. It is a bit sheer and I used two coats here to build it up. I presume you could probably do one more for even more coverage. I am not a huge fan of these kinds of colors personally, it’s a little too plain and matches my skin tone too much. However I can definitely see using this if you just wanted a very clean shiny look without major color.

Glitter In The Air

Glitter In The Air

Glitter In The Air
Glitter In The Air is a very pale sheer blue base with pink and blue hexagonal, small and micro-glitter. This is a really pretty and unique color, though I was wanting the base color to be more opaque.
I did have a little bit of a hard time getting the glitter chunks to stay where they first went on the nail. As I swept the brush towards my tip all the glitter wanted to go to the tip as well. That is my biggest pet peeve with these chunky glitters, I don’t like having to “place” the glitter individually as it’s time consuming and a pain the the butt!
I used three coats here to get the most opacity I could and the most glitter. I would most likely use this as a layering color, which I did below.

Glitter In The Air over Zoya Robyn
Here I just put it on one blue nail so you can see how it looks layered. I love the pink and blue glitter combo, so will probably use this one often, compared to some of Lippmann’s darker glitter polishes.
Overall:
I think both of these colors will have a very specific audience who will purchase them. Naked is a subtle and office-friendly color. Glitter In The Air is a good layering color (and it looks SO pretty in the bottle). I almost love Glitter In The Air as an art piece more than a polish!
Availability: Online, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus
Pricing: $18.00
What are your thoughts on these two colors?

i LOVE glitter in the air….although i don’t like sheer nail polish this color reminds me of fruity pebbles and i love it…i have nothing like it in my collection…
i agree with you that is not for everyone but it’s beautiful nonetheless…
I am so tempted on Glitter in the Air, but in general i don’t layer so I sort of feel like it’s a bit of a waste of money for me. Naked, on the other hand… your images have got me interested.

i personally do not like it layered….i think it holds really well with 4 coats…and the good thing is that it doesnt look/feel “bulky” even with all of those coats…
I’m so let down by Glitter in the air… It’s like there isn’t enough glitter in it… Like the glitter was an afterthought

Love Glitter in the Air, as a layering polish and alone. Love it!

Both too pale for me. I think its because I have pale skin I want more contrast. I think I would like glitter in the air if it had more colour and glitter.. so was completely different =D

I kind-of like how “Naked” looks with your skin tone. I also like that it’s on the sheer side…it doesn’t look chalky.
I have been waiting for your swatches of this. I’m dying for GitA. I need it, like yesterday. I think I’m just going to have to buy it.
My plan is to wear it under a pastel blue, like Hard Candy Sky, and then layer GitA on top so it will look like cotton candy
I love both polishes, but Glitter in the Air is a bit more special

I love Glitter in the Air! It is very springy to me.
rinni´s last post…rinni- Haha- I love that McLobster is a trending topic! They sold them in Cape Breton- but I never had the guts to try one
I prefer to wait for Glitter In the Air to be copied by another polish company. I have plenty of polishes with the naked look to them.
I’d like to see Glitter in the Air layered over Naked…that might be interesting…
I wanna see Glitter in the Air layered over Wicked Game!
I like the Glitter in The Air one, however could never bring myself to cough up $18 for it =)

I have Glitter in the Air, actually wore 3 coats of it to a wedding a couple of weeks ago (it coordinated with my outfit, hehe). After wearing it though, I decided I’d most likely layer it next time. I was thinking over CG Sea Spray or something along those lines. Oh, and an fyi, this sucker yellows like crazy! Don’t forget your UV topcoat with this one!
Naked is a pass for me, I don’t wear that type of shade often (if ever).
Thanks for the heads-up on the yellowing! Good to know.
Great pics! I had looked forward to the release of these for months, but when I saw them/swatched them at Nordstrom in person, I was a little disappointed. I really love the glitter polish in the bottle. I’d like to see it over SOPI Havana Dreams or another nice blue like Chanel Riva…..
Naked is nice for what it is but nothing eyecatching. Glitter in the Air is really pretty but I couldn’t bring myself to spend $18 for a layering color. I think these are a pass for me.

glitter in the air almost remind me of the new scent i saw at Bath and Body Works called Carried away, the package of the collection is like that same pink and blue, soo pretty
Hi Kelly,
Before I even saw you layer it with a light blue nail color I was thinking the glitter in the air would look good with that color. It really does!! Thank you!!
I like Glitter In The Air on you with just the 3 coats, it’s like a nude with a little “oomph” ya know? lol, I like it anyway. I’ll definitely be getting it, sometimes I like my nails bare but not plain old clear polish, this will solve that
Both these colours are really nice. I’m not usually one to go for nudes and beiges but I do like this shade. I will definitely get Glitter In The Air, I love it over blue.
I nearly bought Glitter In The Air today but the sheerness totally turned me off. I absolutely love how it looks in the bottle, but the sparseness of the glitter and watery base…. not for me. :\ Lippmann polishes are pretty disappointing on the whole, IMO.
Glitter in the air looks waaay better in the bottle. Naked is *yawn*.

Glitter in the Air looks so pretty in the bottle, but on the nail not so much.
I love Glitter in the Air!

I was just wondering, what if under GitA, you had a base coat of lippmann happy birthday? or do alternating layers of happy birthday with GitA (like first Gita, then happy birthday, then another GitA). i’m not sure how that would look but i think it might be really cool and add more sparkle than GitA alone. What do you think?
I will have to say “glitter in the air’ is the winner for me … either as a stand alone or as a layer over some pretty spring pastel.
