Illamasqua Toxic Nature Collection for SS11: Flare Lipstick Swatches, Photos & Review

Illamasqua Flare Lipstick

I never used to be much into orange lipstick. In fact there was a time I thought it was just a poor cousin to red. ;)

Recently though I have been seeing some really nice bright orange lipsticks and the newest one is from Illamasqua’s Toxic Nature collection.

The name says it all: Flare.

I mean really, who wouldn’t like this? What I love about Flare is it’s not too warm or cool. It’s right in the middle which makes it super wearable for a wide variety of skin colors.

Also it’s very pigmented and feels pretty creamy going on. I cannot comment on wear just yet as I haven’t worn it for very long.

Overall:

If you are looking for a bright fun summer lipstick, but are tired of red or fuchsia, orange might be for you!

Availability: Illamasqua’s website

Pricing: £15.50

Are you a fan of orange lipstick?

I am a huge fan of orange lately! I used to be weirded out by it. Whenever I saw it, I would think of that girl from Full House–Kimmi? I remember seeing her in orange lipstick and it was just so awful and tacky! But I have to say, I’ve changed my mind, and this lipstick looks amazing!

Haha! Gina, your Full House reference cracked me up!

As for the lipstick, I’m not a fan of orange only because I’ve never found any that look good on me or that go with what I’m wearing. So I’ll just enjoy it vicariously through Kelly and others who can pull it off. :)

But when it comes to orange nail polish, I’d wear it. Heck, I’d wear any nail-polish colour. That’s the kind of polish fiend I am. Hehehehehe

I wonder how that compares to MAC Morange, which is a staple of mine. This one looks redder…maybe closer to MAC Lady Danger? I’ve never bought an Illamasqua lipstick, but now I’m interested. If it’s orange or loud and offensive you can sign me right up ;)

I couldn’t imagine wearing such a bright lip colour. I don’t really do lipstick anyway. I’m a mostly chapstick kind girl, with some gloss thrown in when I want to look especially pretty lol.

That is a great colour. I am a huge Illamasqua fan though at the best of times. Toxic Nature is a wonderful collection.

I love how it looks on you! I’ve been searching for the perfect orange and just haven’t had any luck. Maybe this is the one? Could you recommend any orange MAC lipsticks?

      Hi origami,

MAC Neon Orange is a good one and also the Pro Longwear one in Good To Go. Not sure if they still have that one though.

Thanks so much! I’ll definitely pop into my local MAC and check those out. :D

I have several orange lipsticks that I rarely wear. I’ve only worn them on Halloween or a few times during the Fall. I’ve gotten lots of compliments on it. Still I find orange hard to wear. I don’t even wear it in clothing. Just makes me uncomfortable. Weird!

Looks so good on you! I’m also wanting the new Givenchy orange lipstick “Candide Tangerine” or something…deeper, slightly darker orange & more sheen than this. Perfect for summer!

Well, I tried to comment earlier but it didn’t take.
Anyway, I think this color looks great on you, but I think I’m going to pass on the orange trend (well, at least as far as lips are concerned, nails are a different story). I have some peach and coral shades, but that’s as orange as I think I’ll go, but I don’t generally do a strong lip anyway. This is a great shade though, and ya gotta love Illamasqua, they definitely aren’t subtle!

I like that this orange is more of a retro orange than tacky orange. I think it’s why it works. I’m not sure how it’ll look on my yellow/brown skin, but I’m willing to give it a shot. I’m just worried it will age me. :(

Love how it looks on you.
