Estee Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer for Spring 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review

Estée Lauder has a new line of nail lacquers out called Pure Color Nail Lacquer. There are 16 new shades in all, 8 of them being limited edition colors.
These were created by Estée Lauder with Creative Makeup Director Tom Pecheux, and are meant to be a full-coverage formula with a long lasting shiny finish.
They are infused with “exclusive True Vision™ Technology which incorporates multi-faceted, highly pigmented shades for an intensely rich color application.”
The 16 shades include three different finishes in Creme, Shimmer and Sparkle.
Not all the colors here are necessarily totally unique, but I have to give it up to Estée Lauder for coming up with a really nice green and purple. You don’t see high-end cosmetic companies come out with green polishes all that often, so good for them!

Wicked Green

Mega Fuchsia

Violet Diva

Fuchsia Flame

Wicked Green
Wicked Green (LE) is a medium deep, yet bright green creme. Gorgeous color and perfect for today being St. Patrick’s Day! I am glad this went on a bit darker than it looked from the bottle because I think it’s nicer that way.
The formula was a little on the thin side and not too even until the third coat. Once it was at three though it was perfect.

Mega Fuchsia
Mega Fuchsia (LE) is a bright medium fuchsia pink creme. It’s not a neon and not ultra-bright, but very pretty and spring-like.
The formula was really good with this one, I only needed two coats for complete coverage.

Violet Diva
Violet Diva (LE) is a deep violet purple creme. This is a very blue purple, yet is showing a little more blue in this photo than it really is. Very pretty!
The formula was on the thinner side with this and I did need three coats for complete coverage.

Fuchsia Flame
Fuchsia Flame is a bright red/pink creme. This is the only one shown in this post that is part of their regular new collection. This photo shows it being a tiny bit more red than it is. It does have a lot of pink in it in real life.
The formula was really good here also, only needed two coats.
Overall:
I mentioned above that I am still impressed when a company like this comes out with an “unusual” color like Wicked Green. Goes to show you that green is becoming more mainstream which could be both good and bad! The stand-out shades here for me are Wicked Green and Violet Diva. I am very interested to check out some of the Shimmer and Sparkle shades also though!
Availability: March 2011
Pricing: $19.00
What do you think of these ones? Do any of the other colors look interesting as well?

Growing up, my grandmother was all about EL and Clinique. Once in a while she’d have my sister and I come into her bedroom and she’d dump all her ‘Gift with Purchase’ goodies on the bed for us to pick through and choose from. While most of my junior high classmates were experimenting with Wet-n-Wild makeup (before WnW was awesome, like it is now), I had eyeliner that retailed for $17 and gorgeous EL nail polish. Back then it came in pretty standard ‘office friendly’ mauves, pinks, and reds, but I still remember a bottle of pink with a super secret shimmer to it, and I remember how perfectly it applied and how long it lasted. (though no doubt it had something to do with the fact that I wasn’t doing much ‘work’ with my hands outside of homework!) Nice memory. These are a smidge above my comfortable price point but I might be persuaded if one of the shimmer and sparkle colors is exceedingly awesome.

I’m loving these colors and I love the Pure Color nail polishes. One of my very first several/many years ago was a Cherry and it was absolutely gorgeous and stayed on my nails for almost two weeks! I will definintely be picking up some of these puppies! Thank you for the review and swatches! Happy St. Patty’s Day!
Very pretty colors and swatches! I too really like Violet Diva and Wicked Green and how shiny their finishes are but for 19 dollar price tag they should all be 2 coaters.
Not to mention the smaller amount of product in EL bottles

I too am a fan of the green and violet. Lovely colours. Expensive though.

I love that EL is stepping “outside of the box” by adding polish to their core line and creating colors that used to be considered too “different” for non-lacquerheads. I’m on the fence about getting these because I already am attached to so many HE brands. I fear loving EL’s and feeling the *need* to buy every color they comeo out with. At $20 a pop, I will resist temptation and pass…
Never thought I’d see a shade like Wicked Green from Estee Lauder! Looks delicious looking.
I only own one EL n/p and it’s called Surreal Violet and I loves loves loves it. I haven’t seen any other colors I’ve wanted from this brand yet and it’s a good thing. $19. is a lot to shell for a nail polish…Chanel has gotten some of my money too in the past. Thanks for the post!
Wicked Green and Violet Diva are definitely the stand-outs for me. I’ve never bought anything from Estee Lauder but Wicked Green might just be my first purchase! I’m curious how similar it is to Orly’s Wandering Vine.
Wicked Green and Violet Diva are incredibly gorgeous.

These look lovely! I love your picks too, the colours all lined up make me happy
Estee Lauder’s Surreal Violet polish totally changed my view of the whole range – now I don’t just walk past. It is my favourite nail polish of all time. I’ll definitely be checking out the green and violet too, thanks for the post! x
Any dupe ideas for the violet diva? While beautiful, I can’t do $19 for nail polish!

How close is Wicked Green to BB Couture’s Clyde? They look like they might be distant cousins on the monitor.
Or RBL’s Recycle? I know you don’t want to swatch the night away with green comparisons, but these 2 REALLY look similar. I retract Clyde above – not nearly as close as I originally thought!
Hi Mo,
They are similar but I think Wicked Green is a little darker of a green, not as bright. It’s also similar to Recycle but looks more like a jelly rather than RBL’s obvious creme finish.
I really want to get my hands on the wicked green! I haven’t seen it or any nail polishes at the Estee Lauder make up counters yet
i love all the colors!
I think it’s great to see a brand like EL come out with some of the more unusual shades, however for me (and I’m sure a lot of your readers) these are nothing special. Very pretty colors, but nothing I couldn’t get from other much less expensive brands.

I wonder how close Wicked Green is to Recycle. It looks a tad darker. Everyone needs a good green creme, right?

Hi Stephanie,
It’s really similar but more of a jelly finish rather than a creme.
I just love the green and the blue in the line up, Wild Blue, looks interesting and I just love the bottles they look awesome all lined up! They seem expensive though!
Pretty colors, and I’m impressed they are from Estee Lauder, but I wonder if there are some dupes out there…know what I mean?
HI Kelly: Est’ee Larder has some very vibrant colors, love all, of these however, at $19 a bottle it must be for the rich at heart, unless you want to just get one gorgoeus beautiful shade. The colors look fabulous and gorgoeus on your nails, I love the gold label and bottle top in golk color, looks like royalty, I guess that’s where the other $10 goes to the bottle and $9 for the polish color, Still I absolutely love, EL “Wicked Green,” ohhh, it looks dreamy, LOL
Namaste,
Mc Huggs
