Misa 9 to 5:00 Collection for Spring 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review

Misa 9 to 5 Misa 9 to 5:00 Collection for Spring 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review

Yesterday I mentioned that Misa has two new spring 2011 collections out. The first one called Wishes are pale, shimmery colors. These, from the 9 to 5:00 collection, are all muted yet still fun creme polishes.

I’m a big fan of creme polish, it’s probably my second favorite finish after shimmer. I know a lot of people think cremes are boring, but I find them to be incredibly sophisticated and a lot of times really unique and edgy. There is nothing like a deep olive creme nail polish, aaaahhhh.

All of these colors were thick and applied evenly and opaque in just two coats.

Misa Blush Hour Misa 9 to 5:00 Collection for Spring 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review
Blush Hour

Blush Hour is a pale nude pink color. I love how clean, shiny and un-streaky this color wound up being. I don’t normally wear these kinds of pale nude colors, but this one flatters my skin quite nicely.

Misa Pay Days Are Happy Days Misa 9 to 5:00 Collection for Spring 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review
Pay Days Are Happy Days

Pay Days Are Happy Days is a cafe au lait brown/taupe color. It’s very light and kind of milky looking. It’s really nice, but I think maybe a little too “blah” for my skin tone. I like more of a contrast between nail and skin and think this would look amazing on darker skin tones.

Misa Working Hard Or Hardly Working Misa 9 to 5:00 Collection for Spring 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review
Working Hard or Hardly Working

Working Hard or Hardly Working is a medium cement grey with blue undertones. That is what makes this one unique to a lot of other grey cremes I have, the blue-ishness to it is really nice. Love it.

Misa PaintMyNails@Work Misa 9 to 5:00 Collection for Spring 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review
PaintMyNails@Work

PaintMyNails@Work (which is what I would be doing all day if I could get away with it) is a medium grey/taupe color. It’s darker and more grey than Pay Days Are Happy Days and it’s really pretty. I like this for my skin tone much better.

Misa Coffee Pick Me Up Misa 9 to 5:00 Collection for Spring 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review
Coffee Pick Me Up

Coffee Pick Me Up is a deep purple/taupe color. I absolutely love this and am wearing it right now. Love the combo of purple and taupe and it looks really cool on my hands.

Misa Office Polish tics Misa 9 to 5:00 Collection for Spring 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review
Office Polish-tics

Office Polish-tics is a dark murky blue/grey color. This is fairly unique when I look at it compared to a lot of other dark blue cremes I own. If it had just been navy blue or dark blue, it would not be as interesting, but the grey in it makes it look more edgy.

Overall:

Good strong collection here. They call it 9 to 5:00 presumably because these are all colors you could wear to a conservative work-place and they wouldn’t shout “LOOK AT MY NAIL POLISH!” I liked them all but feel the stand-out colors are Working Hard or Hardly Working, Coffee Pick Me Up and Office Polish-tics.

Availability: Online now at some etailers

Pricing: $3.75 and up

Ok folks, would these be colors you would wear to work? What do you think about them?

-Kelly

Nice!!! I must confess I was a little dissapointed in the Misa Wishes, although I might endup with one ore two colors eventually, but this collection has at leats 4 colors I would really like to have. Unfortunately, takes some time before it’s avalilable here in Holland. Thanx for sharing!!!

  • I love the palette this creates but I’m not sure any stand out to me on their own. Isn’t it funny when collections do that? Regardless, I may end up picking up a couple. :)

I seriously need to get office polish-tics, the rest a dupeable imo, but office polish-tics would definitely be unique in my collection.

I can’t wait for this greige-y trend to be over, I’m more of a jewel tones kind of girl :( I might try Office Polish-tics, let’s hope it wins me over!

  • I love these! I only bought office polish-tics and paintmynails@work because I loved the names, but after seeing your swatches I feel like I should go buy the rest of them!

One of my favorite collection! I feel like using one color on each nail…I´m looking forward someone to sending it to me here in Brazil, changing for a brazilian collection, of course.

I love these! And I’m with you on the cream finishes; I love them too. I recently tried Misa polishes for the first time and I loved it so I think I’m gonna have to get these! :)

Office Polish-tics is really pretty! I have nothing like that and must get it.

What a great collection of polishes for the conservative office especially Office Polish-tics (love this name), Coffee Pick Me Up and Working Hard or Hardly Working. Cool collection.

I love that picture of all of the bottles together, the colours all just work so well!

I am really into muted, greyed out colours at the moment, so this collection is right up my alley! Misa is quite possibly my favourite brand, even though I currently own 3 colours as it is hard to get in the UK. The formula just blew me away with my first bottle, glad to hear it’s great with these colours too :)

Adore this set! I think I actually like the first, “Blush Hour”, and the last “Office Polish-tics” the most. Wondering if you have any thoughts on how similar is Office Polish-tics to Zoya “Kelly?”

    February 23, 2011
    • Hi SB_Sweetie,

Pretty different. Kelly is a stronger and brighter purple/blue undertone. The undertone in Office Polish-tics is more navy blue.

  • Is Working Hard or Hardly Working close to Diamond Cosmetics Concrete Jungle? Is it more or less blueish?

    February 23, 2011
    • Hi Jenny,

I think it’s a little more blue than Concrete Jungle.

      February 24, 2011
  • Totally gorgeous collection, I’d wear them everywhere, not just at work.
I’m surprised at how much color they have, the promo pics I saw gave the impression of rather uniform greys with undertones, not actual colors with grey mixed in. Thinking of getting all except Blush hour and Coffee pick me up. :)

Just received Office Polish-tics in the mail recently and I love it! Initially thought it looked like Zoya Kelly in the bottle but it is different, which i’m happy about.

I’ve been on the fence about ordering some of these, but I think your pics may have pushed me into pull-the-trigger mode. Plus, I don’t own ANY Misas!

    February 23, 2011
  • Wow! I love them all…I really do. I am more and more in love with the Misa polish line. Plus their very low price. This collection is so gorgoeus and looks so sensational on your nails. As Laura mentioned, “your pics have pushed me to order all six of these. Just beautiful colors. Thanks for sharing these swatches with us all. You really made my day! LOL

    Love,

Ok, I really didn’t think I would like any of these to be honest. I saw the initial photo of the bottles and thought bleh. They really turned out quite lovely on the nail though, especially Office Polish-tics and Coffee Pick Me Up.

Hi. These are all pretty… Very rarely do I like all of a collection, but these are modern and classy, yet work appropriate.. Thanks!

I wasn’t too thrilled by this collection. On you they look wonderful. The last two are my favorites. Love the dusty looking shades.

I usually don’t like such muted colors but I love this entire collection, especially Office Polish-tics. Definitely getting all 6.

    February 23, 2011
  • I really like this collection, minus Blush Hour. I’m not a fan of the Wishes collection, and I was so close to buying Office Polish-tics and Coffee Pick Me Up the other day when I bought a few China Glazes. Will definitely get them eventually I think.

These are very nice swatches. I love Misa, and I am really happy with this collection. I’m definitely getting Office Polish-tics and Pay Days are Happy Days. Working Hard or Hardly Working also interests me, but it looks so similar to the latest crop of pale blue greys such as OPI I Vant to Be a Lone Star, ChG Sea Spray, Eyeko Rain and Essie Sag Harbor. Would you please consider doing a comparison post? Thank you Kelly!

    February 23, 2011
    • Hi Cat,

I would but I don’t support OPI or Essie anymore :/

china glaze below deck and coffee pick me up look similar.
is working hard/ hardly working similar to china glaze sea spray, or does sea spray have shimmer

    February 24, 2011
    • Hi tia,

Sea Spray does have shimmer and it’s definitely light blue not grey.

      February 24, 2011
  • Maja

Do you think Coffee Pick Me Up is similar to China Glaze Below Deck?

    February 24, 2011
    • Hi Maja,

Yes and no. It’s similar, but Below Deck is darker and more purple than this. They are in that same dusky purple/taupe family though!

I am in love with all of these colors! They are work appropriate but still edgy and cool! I think I need the entire collection!

    February 24, 2011
  • If I still had a ‘dress up and go be professional’ type job I would probably buy more than half of these because most of my professional wardrobe would have been very handily matched by these colors and they ARE pretty. These days my ‘suitable for viewings and grandma visits/too tired to be fancy need a color I can ignore for a few days’ polishes comprise the smallest drawer of my collection.

I love all of them. I got them yesterday and couldn’t decide which one I like most, so I told them to wait for a few more days *g* and then I tried out my new zoyas that I got the day before yesterday and I’m wearing “zoya caitlin” as I write here, one of the best colors ever. Not only because it has my name on it ^^ if misspelled, true, but still …. lovely colors.

From the misas I just can’t decide which colors the best. I would go for the darkest, the dark blue-gray, if I hadn’t just a color like this from the brand “art deco” … though maybe they are different after all, I will take a nail-wheel for comparison.

I fell in love with those grey-beige-purple-brownish-nudish-swamp-mushroom colors ever since I saw “parlez vous opi” from opi and “grunge” from rescue beauty lounge …. after that I went for china glaze’s channelesque and nubars pharao’s purple, sephora’s metro chic, color club’s high society and a lot of “mushroomy-taupey” colors from German brands like Catrice and artdeco. I don’t know if they sell internationally or how known they are. Artdeco I can recommend, though … Catrice is a bit hit and miss colorwise.

But that misa collection – a dream. Absolutely lovely. They will get their permanent place in my polish rack, some others will have to go into the helmer ;)

Great review/swatches! I love all of them! well except for one ;) the pale nude pink is not really my thing but it is a pretty color.
Can you please do a review for the color club alter ego collection.
