Zoya Intimate Collection for Spring 2011 Swatches & Review
Happy 2011!
Let’s ring in the new year with a bang, shall we? 
We are marching rapidly into spring (at least that’s what I am pretending because I have been so cold lately) and with that means some beautiful new nail colors.
The Zoya Intimate collection features six new colors invoking thoughts of “temptations, whispers, dreams, secrets, illusions, liaisons, trysts… lingerie… kisses.”
- Marley – lavender pink with a whisper of metallic
- Dove – delicate, pale gray cream
- Caitlin – misty, moody gray violet cream
- Dannii – sparkling, enchanted orchid metallic
- Jules – soft, glimmering gold kiss metallic
- Gemma- mysterious green/purple duotone metallic
I for one am super excited about this collection because I think the colors go together so perfectly and I love that we get a variety of finishes as well. There isn’t a single color here I didn’t like and a few that I just L.O.V.E.
The formula was excellent, as per always. I thought most of these colors were going to be three-coaters as I applied them because they seemed on the sheer side. Happily every single one was opaque in just two coats!
Marley
Marley is a pale lavender with just a hint of pink to it. It has very fine silvery blue shimmer in it, which isn’t that apparent until you see it in the sunlight. This is a very pretty color and totally perfect for spring.
Dove
Dove is a light concrete grey creme. I’m a sucker for grey colors and this one is really nice. I think perhaps of all the color in this collection this is the least unique (you might find you already have a grey similar) but it’s still nice!
Caitlin
Caitlin is a deep greyed out violet, or perhaps can be described as a dark cornflower blue. You know me and cornflower blue (or perhaps you don’t), it’s one of my very favorite colors on planet earth. I am in love with this one, it’s beautiful. You might think it’s similar to Zoya Kelly but it’s MUCH lighter, and way more purple.
Gemma
Holy shizz!!!! Gemma is a kind of light olive/murky green base with heavy blue/purple duochrome. I have NEVER seen another green duochrome like this, and it was what first caught my eye when I saw the promo pics. It absolutely lives up to what I was expecting and more. It’s an amazing green color and the duochrome just makes it THAT much more unique and cool. This is my favorite one here for sure!
Jules
Jules is a soft champagne/gold metallic with tons of gold shimmer. I wasn’t expecting to like this one as much as I did after swatching it. It’s not your typical gold metallic, it almost has a grey/taupe tone to it. Hard to describe but you can tell by looking at it that it’s different. Beautiful.
Dannii
Dannii is a vivid, saturated purple/pink metallic with tons of pink shimmer. This is another outstanding, unique color in this collection folks. This could very easily now be one of my favorite purples ever, it’s so pretty in person, you MUST own it. It’s my second favorite here, but very close with Gemma.
Overall:
Hello, I think we have established that this collection is pretty great. It might have a few colors that aren’t completely original (Marley & Dove), but all are still really quite pretty. The must haves I think are Gemma, Dannii, Jules and Caitlin. And yes I realize that’s 4 out of 6. 
Now that spring has sprung on the nail collections, I would love to know what you think of these!

Gemma is really something and Dannii is the color of purple I really love. I think I’ll have to purchase these. I really love most of Zoya’s colors though

My favorite is Jules, I love the subtleness (guess thats not a word but you get the point:D) of the shimmer! I love the whole collection, a perfect spring collection in my opinion

Danii and Dove are the ones I like less then the rest.. but it is a gorgeous collection! I just NEED Gemma.

What a wonderful collection for spring! I adore all of these…individually and as a set. Just perfect….but I always have bizarre issues with bubbling/dry time with Zoya. I’ve tried all the various combos of base/top coat, but nothing works except skipping base & top coats all together. Is it just me, or has anyone else had problems?
Zoya’s formula is a bit finicky with other brands of base coat. I always have the best luck with their base coat, Anchor – or no base coat at all.
The key with Zoya’s is to do one light coat at time and let the first coat dry completely to the touch before applying the 2nd and let that coat dry to the touch before applying your top coat.
It takes a little getting used to, but Zoya has become my all-time fave nail varnish.

thanks, Tracy, I guess I just need to be more patient with Zoya’s. I’ve got their Anchor, but I did have problems (bubbling) when using it. I think I may just skip a base coat all together with Zoyas.
I am so excited for these! I’m not sure about Jules and Danii, though. I’m not big on super-glittery polishes. They are pretty, I’m just not sure I would wear them more than once. Hmmm decisions.
@SB_Sweetie I have had the bubbling issue, also. I’ve found that if you wait 15 minutes between each coat (base, color coats, top coat), and another 5-10 minutes before the drying drops, then I don’t get bubbling. Takes a while, but is worth it if I don’t have to do my nails again for 9-10 days.

No, totally different color. Soiree is rose gold/copper, this is more light champagne/gold.
Great spring collection
I saw the bottles and thought: “meh” (except for Gemma). Then I kept reading and saw your swatches! OMG!!!
I want ALL of these now- I have always shied away from most pastels, especially lavender, but Marley is totally incredible! Gemma is my favorite, but Jules surprised me, too!
I seriously need to win the lottery, so I can get all of the polishes I have on my lemming list!!!

Oh, talking about meeting ones expectations (that I didn’t get on some *other* collection that’s out now, but nevermind that
)! I wasn’t crazy about this collection seeing the colour drops, I said ok, maybe Danni and Gemma. Maybe. And now I see just how stunning they are! I’m totally getting these two! Really gorgeous. As for others, I can see myself buying Caitlin, but I’ll try to resist the temptation, since I’m not really sure about it. But I think I’d fall in love with it when I’d put it on my nails. My wallet wouldn’t for sure though.

Gemma looks more like something BB would release, not Zoya. I ain’t complaining though!
OMG OMG!!! I cannot wait for these! That periwinkle looks so pretty, and the green reminds me of my biggest current lemming, “All the Trimmings” from Cosmetic Arts. I can’t get enough of that type of shimmer. I’m not the biggest fan of Zoya, although I experienced vast improvement with the formula of the last few cremes of theirs that I’ve tried – Kelly and Shawn – so maybe they’ve tweaked their formula a bit?

I’m less than thrilled with Dove and Marley; but Gemma, Caitlin, and Jules are all mine!! Dannii’s lovely enough, but I’m just not that huge a fan of the medium-bright purples. Utterly a personal preference, though – it’s a pretty color, and I can see the purple-fanatics (third cousins twice removed to the Blue Meanies, but far more sociable) buying that one almost as fast as Zoya can bottle it!!
/wonders if there will be a run on Caitlin, similar to the stampede to buy Kelly…

What a refreshing spring collection and great swatches. Usually I’m not interested in typical spring colors because there are too many pastels, but now I have my eye on three of these.
