The Future Has Arrived…

Welcome to VV3.01 The Future Has Arrived...

Hi and welcome to the new and improved Vampy Varnish!

As you can tell, the site has gone through a major overhaul and should be sleeker, faster, more straightforward, and user-friendly now. icon smile The Future Has Arrived...

The most obvious change from my old site is on the main page; I no longer have the tabbed photo gallery with those 5 categories. While I really liked it when VV 2.0 was released (it was based off The Pioneer Woman’s site) it got very hard to maintain, and I think a lot of you felt it was “clunky”. So presto, it’s gone! Since I no longer have that tabbed gallery, you will now see a few pictures of each post on the main page before you have to “click to continue”. The main page now looks like a “standard” blog page where you will actually see pics as you scroll down, which I think is much better.

But just because I got rid of those personal tabs, doesn’t mean I won’t post personal pics anymore. I now have a “Personal” tab on the top bar, where you can see the more personal articles and pictures. Please check that area out as I will be regularly updating it with pics of the kittehs and all things around the Bay Area. icon smile The Future Has Arrived... Continue reading »

OPI Swiss Collection for Fall 2010 Swatches & Review – Part I

OPI Swiss for fall 2010 is here!

This collection is made up of twelve new colors. One half of the collection is shimmery metallics, and the other is cremes. Today I’ve got the shimmery (better half) of the collection for ya.

The formula on these was pretty nice. They were thick and I got good coverage after three coats for most (some were two).

NOTE: Vampy Varnish 3.0 is finished and should be live within a day or two. You might not see a post from me tomorrow or Wednesday, so don’t panic. I am trying to coordinate a time for the new site to go live, and since I am in the US and my web design company is in New Zealand, it’s a little tricky!

Glitzerland

Glitzerland is a C3PO gold metallic. I always think of C3PO when I see this color and that makes me happy. Love this gold because it’s not real warm, and suits my skin tone nicely. It’s got little flecks of other colors in it as well. This was two, very un-streaky coats.

Icing Limited Edition Black Glitter Nail Polish Swatches & Review

Today I’ve some some slightly older limited edition Icing swatches of a black glitter collection.

I think these came out last last year, but I only came across them recently and liked what I saw.

The bottles are on the small side at 0.40 oz, but not what I would classify as a true “mini” bottle. I believe the set was only like $8.00 because it was in the sale bin and the only one left.

The formula started off good but then after the first two colors, it deteriorated rapidly. Most were very thick and sticky and kind of glooped on, very messily. Oh well!

Blackened Purple

Blackened Purple is a black with tons of purple micro-glitter. This is an outstanding color! It totally glows, is very pretty and cool looking and I don’t think I have another one quite like it. The formula on this was really great no issues and two coats.

NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencils Swatches & Review

NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil1 NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencils Swatches & Review

NYX has some really cool jumbo eyeshadow pencils, and since they were on sale at an Ulta I was near, I picked a few up. All of these are from their regular line.

What I love about these babies are how smooth they apply. They have a very creamy texture and dry to a powder-like finish. They don’t pull on my eyelid at all, and are very saturated in color.
