SF or Lego-Land?

Whenever I come into SF over the Bay Bridge and look into the city on a clear day, it reminds me of Lego-Land. Pic taken with iPhone 3GS.

Have you heard of Sheswai Lacquer? I hadn’t until one of my readers turned me onto them recently.
Sheswai Lacquer is a company that was started by a California manicurist, named Debbie. For years she worked in some of the best salons & spas in Los Angeles, then in 2007 started doing manicures for fashion shows, magazines, film & television and the red carpet. Soon Debbie realized that she wanted to create something of her own, so she created Sheswai Lacquer.
Right now Sheswai has only 7 colors, what they call “the basics”. But here’s what drew me to them immediately. The bottle caps are made from sustainably harvested wood which is grown on family owned farms. That is SO cool! Not only are they responsible, they are very pretty and unlike any other polishes I can think of. Sheswai is also big-three free.
The formula for these was really nice. They were on the thick side, but not sticky or hard to apply. They were very opaque in just two coats.

Happy Saturday folks!
As you may have heard Sephora by OPI has their new fall collection out on their website already. It looks like they have about nine new colors and I bought four of the ones that looked the most interesting to me.
I wound up being pretty pleased with three of the four. I was a little worried because some of them were described as “sheer” but they really are only sheer if you use one coat.
The formula was pretty decent. The metallic ones were a wee bit streaky but not too bad. They all were only two coats with one exception.

Go My Own Way
Go My Own Way is a kind of dusty blue metallic teal with light blue shimmer. This reminds me of the ocean. It’s an unusual blue, which makes it fairly unique for me. I liked it even though it was a little streaky. This was two coats.

Afternoon/evening!
I haven’t done a stash post in awhile, and it’s grown significantly since the last one. I don’t have an exact count, but am guessing between 1700-2000 by now.
I hope you know I never ever do these posts to brag in any way, shape or form. This just happens to be something I collect, and I like sharing it with other people who like the same things I do. I love seeing other people’s polish and makeup stash’s, (and how they organize), so I thought you might enjoy this.
My stash is now organized by color, rather than brand like it used to be. I think I like this way better because I can find similar colors a lot quicker. The only issue for me (because I am SOOOOOO anal) is I can’t really organize by color, then brand because I would have to constantly re-shuffle everything around. SO it’s kind of bugging me, but I’ll get over it.

Here are my 4 drawer plastic bins from Target. Sadly I haven’t been able to find this kind anymore in stores, so I think they stopped making them. Such a bummer because they are a great height for nail polish and have rollers on the bottom if you need them. Also I don’t have them like this yet, but once we get the baseboards in the closet finished, I will stack these babies two-high (and drill them to the wall for earthquake safety) to save space.
Oh and check out the new carpet and wall color
I plan on doing before/after pics still, but things are in total disarray until the baseboards get installed.

Believe it or not, October is fast approaching. October is not just for Halloween, but also is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
China Glaze has a new collection called Fight Like A Woman that was created to bring awareness about breast cancer. They will give a portion of proceeds to the International Agency for Research on Cancer.
You may or not may know this, but I hear about breast cancer every single day when I’m at work. I work for a Biotechnology company that makes a widely used breast cancer drug, so it’s definitely not a topic I only think about one month a year. But I do think it’s great when companies try to help out in any way they can by raising awareness.
The formula on these was really totally fabulous, not a problem to report.

Encouragement
Encouragement is a light baby pink with silver shimmer. How can I put this…I LOVE THIS COLOR! Really. I saw the 3 pinks, and I knew they would be pink because that’s the color of breast cancer awareness, and I didn’t expect to totally love any of them. But I do. This reminds me of the dress the good witch Glinda wore in The Wizard Of Oz, all sparkly and pretty.
This was on the more sheer side, but I used three coats and I think it looks great.
