Revlon Perplex Swatches, Review, Comparisons & Giveaway!!!
We’ve all heard the rumor that Revlon’s new (hard to find) nail color Perplex is a dupe for Chanel Paradoxal. Are the rumors true? Let’s find out!

Revlon Perplex
Perplex is a purple/grey shimmer, much like Paradoxal. The edges tend to look darker and more greyed out than the purple center. When you move your hand around the color changes with the light. It’s shimmery unusual and totally gorgeous. You only need two coats for total coverage, like Paradoxal.
Chanel Paradoxal on pointer & middle / Revlon perplex on ring & pinky
Here you can see there is just a barely imperceptible difference between the two. I would say that the purple shimmer in Paradoxal might be a tiny bit brighter than Perplex, and it’s also a little bit shinier. However after you apply a top coat, I think both are equally as shiny, so that pretty much doesn’t matter.

When you look at this picture you can see Paradoxal looks a little deeper and more grey whereas Perplex is more purple and not quite as shimmery.
Dupes or not? I would say yes, they are basically dupes for all intents and purposes. The difference between the two is very slight and depending on the lighting they can look exactly the same. If you loved Paradoxal but didn’t get it or didn’t want to spend the $$, try and find Revlon Perplex, OR…

Looks like you can see the red microshimmer a little more in Paradoxal than in Perplex, but Perplex is still a gorgeous color, for a much much cheaper price. What is the formula and wear life like on the Revlon polishes these days (specifically Perplex)? Thanks!

Companies have gotten really good at duplicating the Chanels! I have learned my lesson.
I decided not to buy Riva, expecting that someone will dupe it eventually.
I haven’t been able to find this anywhere! Granted, my local target is pretty crappy about carrying that sort of stuff. They don’t even have a pharmacy. I will have to scope out the Super Target back in my hometown over Christmas!

Minted, by Revlon ruined the brand for me.. it was horrible, but seeing this color brings me back! I need to go on a hunt for it!
Oh, Revlon shimmers are the best! Minted was a creme, wasn’t it? (or a creme with just a little sparkle?) I don’t think cremes are Revlon’s forte. But the shimmery stuff- usually wears like iron and goes on well- so don’t give up on them! (and no, I don’t work for them

It’s great that it’s a dupe and all, but do people like it for the color, or do they like it because it’s a dupe for a *Chanel*? I might be grumpy because it’s finals, but it seems like people are more into the fact that something is akin to something designer than because of the actual product.
That said, I think it’s an interesting color. It seems to work well with all different skin tones. : )

ooh! looks amazing and since i put myself on a polish dollar limit, Paradoxal was out of reach, and while shopping in Buffalo over the weekend (i’m in southern Ontario) I checked Ulta, CVS, Rite Aid and Walgreens for Perplex, but no such luck!! Have my fingers crossed!
Sweet! Always on the look out for Chanel dupes! Models Own Purple Gray was the closest I could find although it didn’t have the shimmer.
My husband actually bought Paradoxal, heard there was a (n obviously cheaper) Revlon dupe, and so he took it back. Now we can’t find the Revlon! Sad day. Poor guy, he’s called every ds within a 20 mile radius from our house.

I have scoured multiple Walgreens, CVS and Ulta stores in the Chicagoland area for Perplex to no avail. Even stopped at three today after work (walking in <20 degree windy weather is not advised, LOL) to find a display and the only new Revlon polishes I found were Top Speeds. I guess I’m lucky. I bought Perplex at Ulta in Mentor, OH on Saturday evening, and it had it’s own full display with about 10 bottles of it, and I bought the first one. They weren’t housed with the rest of the Revlon nail colors. I haven’t used it yet and I’m glad to see these swatches so I could see just how close they really are. I’m really excited now!
Seems theres barely any difference at all. Great when that happens. I just found a good dupe for Orly’s Space Cadet/MAC Maleficent polish the other day in work. With my discount cost me €3.50 for it, yay!
Now I feel like I need to drive out to Mentor (OH) to see if I can find the Revlon in all this snow! I have to admit, at $23, Paradoxal was not only my short list, but a Revlon dupe would be! Thanks for the swatches.

I’ve rediscovered Revlon polishes (I wore them in high school) and am pretty impressed. This color is beautiful online but, am unable to find it in the stores.

I wasn’t too keen on this color when bloggers first started raving about Chanel Paradoxal, but now it’s become like an itch to get it. :p I’ll need to check out my local drugstores and see if they have it.
Also, I checked out that lipstick post just above this one and need to get to a department store counter – stat! A bright holiday lipstick is just what the doctor ordered to get me in the spirit.

Please enter me in this wonderful giveaway. I can’t tell the difference when they’re on your nails. The Chanel does have a bit more shimmer in it. I don’t think you can get any closer. At least it’s much cheaper than Chanel. Thanks for the opportunity.

You are right, they ARE really hard to tell apart… but Paradoxal might be both darker and brighter (I see a bit more red shimmer in your pix) if that’s possible. Thank you SO much for the comparison- it’s good to know that there’s an affordable counterpart to the Chanel in this bank-account-spanking-economy…

I’m sad… my local drugstores NEVER get any of the good limited edition or seasonal collections. Especially at Christmas. They clear out shelves to stock ugly gift sets of cheap cologne or lotions. So, I really want to win one of these! Thanks for the opportunity!
