NARS Blush: Angelika, Sex Appeal & Deep Throat

NARS Blush NARS Blush: Angelika, Sex Appeal & Deep Throat

Good afternoon!

Up until just recently I only owned two NARS blushes: Orgasm and Desire. I love both of these and since I had a Sephora discount I thought, what better time to snatch up some more of these babies?

Now I am the owner of three more: Sex Appeal, Deep Throat and Angelika. icon smile NARS Blush: Angelika, Sex Appeal & Deep Throat

Sex Appeal, Deep Throat, Angelika

Sex Appeal is one of their newest colors and it’s a very pale peach color with no shimmer to speak of. It might be hard to see in a hand swatch, but it’s a great color, giving off a nice warm (but not too warm for my skin) glow.

Deep Throat is a beautiful shimmery medium peach color. Of the three here this is my favorite one. It’s cooler and lighter (perhaps less orange) than Orgasm and just as flattering on my skin.

Angelika is a cotton candy pink with flecks of silver glitter. I am still undecided on this color for me to be honest. It looks a little “muddy” on me for some reason, and the flecks of glitter are pretty noticeable, which isn’t my favorite thing. Love it in the pan, but it might be going back to Sephora…

Overall:

Just as expected all of these have a great, silky smooth feel and you don’t need a lot for good color payoff. For me Sex Appeal and Deep Throat are the clear winners here, and Angelika doesn’t suit me all that well. Since these are on the more expensive side ($26) I expect great quality and colors, and for the most part, I got what I paid for!

What do you think about NARS blush? Which ones do you own?

  • Ooh, nice! I tend to love their blushes, I have three: Taos, Sertao, and Torrid. Taos looks great on me in the summer, or if I carry my tan on through to the fall. Otherwise it’s a tad dark. Torrid is perfect year round. Those two are similar in shade. Sertao I got when I was going through a “tan” blush phase, for lack of a better phrase, and it’s pretty but kind of glittery! I was curious about Angelika and Deep Throat, mostly. I think that Sex Appeal might be a little light for me. Thanks for the pictures!

    • Hi Niki,

I had a really hard time only getting three, I think I wanted like 10 of them!!

I once had a “Holiday” blush that looked a lot like Angelika even with the sparkles. I miss that blush! I liked that color because it gave my cheeks a great “glow”, as if I had just come in from the Snow (not that there is any in FL). I will HAVE to go pick Angelika up!!!!

    • Hi Arlyn,

It’s definitely not tiny glitter, be forewarned! :)

  • I own none but Deep Throat looks preeetty!

    • Hi Naomi,

      It’s so gorgeous!

  • I have both Orgasm and Deep Throat and find that I tend to use Deep Throat more for daytime or work makeup, and Orgasm for nighttime or weekend makeup. One of the things I like about them is that they are still on when I go to remove my makeup at night – not many blushes have that staying power on me.

Yes, they definitely last a long time, which is great1

  • OH, definitely deep throat will look good on me!

  • I have Deep Throat, Orgasm, and Oasis. I go through phases of loving deep throat, and then phases of loving orgasm. I think it depends on how peachy or pinky I’m feeling that day =P. I’m a tad bit tanner than you, so I didn’t get sex appeal. However, my newest lemming is Super Orgasm, which is the same peachy pink family, but apparently more pigmented than the original O!

    • Hi dovey,

Yeah I avoided getting Super Orgasm because I heard it was very glittery, which isn’t my “thing” :)

  • You should try Sin too, it looks really purple in the pan but its really nice on the skin. I’m pretty light too and it’s not too dark. I like to wear it at nighttime when I’m goin out :)

  • Oh dear! I fear that this post may have pushed me over the edge!! I have been lusting after a NARS blusher and I cannot decide which to get. Orgasm, Super Orgasm, Deep Throat and now I want Sex Appeal. Decisions, decisions….

Santa better know I’ve been a VERY good girl ;o)

I don’t own any but my Mom has Orgasm and one other in the stick blush form, I may have to test ‘em out when I’m home!

  • I’m not into blush, but you’ll have to enlighten me here… Since I’m Swedish and not natively English speaking, I might be missing something in the bigger picture here, but… DEEP THROAT? I can handle names such as Orgasm and Sex Appeal, I’m not prude by any means… But Deep Throat? Given my associations with this name, it’s simply disturbing. :(

Angelika and Deep Throat are so lovely. Perhaps it’s not too late to amend my list for Santa.

After searching long and hard for my perfect blush, Deep Throat came out the clear winner for my medium tone skin. I was tired of pinky blushes that I have been using, and wanted to switch to a warmer subtle blush. I tried every blush in sephora until my last two choices were deep throat and a fresh blush that was a bit warmer. I absolutely love deep throat on my skin tone.

I only own Orgasm so far, but that *cough* Deep Throat color looks really promising as well. Hey, we don’t have to love the names to love the product right? Besides, when I hear ‘Deep Throat’, I always think of Watergate anyway. Also, I see what you mean about Angelika looking a bit ‘muddy’ on your skin, and I’m sure it would do the same for me. Some colors just don’t work on us pale gals, still a pretty color, they all are!

    December 20, 2010
    • Personally, I don’t really want to support a company that use names that go against my personal (feminist) beliefs. Compare it to the MAC Juarez debacle. I wouldn’t support a company, with my money, who suggests rape and murder as something chic, nor do I want to hand my money over to a company that suggests women are objects only for the rapist sexual pleasure of men.

      And Kelly, sorry, I’m staying out now… :) <3

I’m not sure if you misunderstood my post or perhaps you thought my *cough* was referencing your post about your discomfort with the name of this color (it was not, it was about my feelings about actually saying the name of the color). Either way, I wanted to clarify that I’m not really a fan of the name of this particular blush either, but it is a lovely color, and the name does have other connotations. I don’t know that I’ll necessarily purchase it, as I have more makeup than I’ll ever need anyway. Also, all Nars products don’t have such provocative names, but for whatever reason, some of their blushes tend to. I’m also not sure that they’re promoting the idea of women as sexual objects, but rather just plain old sexuality. Regardless, if you choose to avoid this company because of the names of the products, that is absolutely your prerogative, and you would have my full support, I always support people standing up for what they believe is important. Oh, and I completely agree about the Mac Juarez thing being in poor taste. Hope this clears some things up!

I have nars the big O blush and actually the nail polish as well…someone at worked asked me what nail polish I was wearing and I was like….”can’t say”…..it was very awkward!!! Deep throat blush looks awesome… Think watergate! The names perhaps are a little racy…

Loving the first two. I’ve always wanted to own Orgasm. I’ll now have to add the other two to my list. I only own one eye shadow duo and 6 polishes by Nars. Must order more!

I have Angelika, I actually love it though I don’t wear it too often lol, it’s almost “too pink” at times. However I apply with Mac’s 187 brush and buff it out with a kabuki and then the color is MUCH more wearable. Maybe try it that way before you take it back?

I have 8 Nars powder blushes: Orgasm, Sin, Angelika, Torrid, Outlaw, Dolce Vita & Douceur; 2 cream blushes: Cactus Flower & Gueule de Nuit. Also a few multiples: Portofino, Luxor, South Beach, Lamu and an old one the label fell off of, it’s another peachy one (I like corals lol). You should try the Multiples, they’re really nice products :)

  • I adore Deep Throat and Desire. They were my first two Nars blushes 2 years ago and I have been hooked since (and bought many more). Do you think Sex Appeal will show up on NW25 skintone?

  • I have NARS blush in Douceur, Orgasm, Angelika, and Sex Appeal. When swatched the glitter in Angelika does look a bit scary, but for some reason when I buff it out on my cheeks it disappears completely (thank goodness!). I am quite cool toned, so blue based colors work well on me– but I totally understand how disappointing it can be when colors look “muddy”.
