Estee Lauder Pure Color Wild Violet Collection for Spring 2011
Estee Lauder’s limited edition Pure Color Wild Violet Makeup Collection by Creative Director Tom Pecheux has me ITCHING for spring people!
The pretty, flirty spring color invoke images of fields of violets and pink poppies. It’s a colorful, juicy and shiny collection.
The collection in it’s entirety consists of 14 pieces including:
4 Pure Color Lip Gelée’s (Electric Violet, Electric Coral, Electric Pink, Electric Cherry) ($20)
4 Pure Color Long Lasting Lipsticks (Wild Violet, Wild Coral, Wild Blossom, Wild Fire) ($24)
2 Pure Color Eyeshadows (Untamed, Sugar Cube) ($20)
1 Pure Color Five Color Eyeshadow Palette (Wild Violet) ($42)
1 Double-Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil (Untamed Violet) ($19)
1 Pure Color Nail Lacquer (Wild Storm) ($19)
1 Fragrance (Wild Elixir) ($55)
Untamed Violet, Untamed
Untamed is a gorgeous violet with perhaps a bit of cornflower blue in it. It’s a medium color with very fine gold shimmer. It wasn’t super pigmented, but pretty good after just a couple swipes.
Untamed Violet is also a violet/cornflower blue color but deeper than Untamed. It has a really nice texture, feels smooth and glides on very easily. The other end of the liner has a smudge sponge, which can come in handy for blending it out when you want to.
Both of these are SO pretty and are my favorite spring-time colors.
Long Lasting Lipstick
Wild Violet, Wild Fire
Wild Violet, Wild Fire
Wild Violet is a shiny pink/purple color with medium coverage. It has a little blue and pink shimmer in it, but it’s not that noticeable once applied. It went on a bit sheer at first but built up nicely. It looks a lot darker and more purple in the tube than it applies.
Wild Fire is a coral/red creme color and a bit more opaque than Wild Violet is. It screams spring!
Electric Violet, Electric Coral
The Lip Gelée’s are sheer, shiny, juicy looking glosses that correspond nicely with the lipsticks.
Electric Violet is a sheer violet and Electric Coral is a barely pigmented light coral.
They feel pretty nice, just a very slight stickiness to them. Considering how sheer these are I probably wouldn’t wear them alone because I prefer more color. But they would work very nicely over the lipsticks or something else.
Wild Storm is a deep metallic charcoal grey with some green/pink/blue fine shimmer. The shimmer isn’t that noticeable unless you look pretty close up.
The formula was pretty good though a bit sheer and watery at first. I wasn’t sure this would build up to an opaque color, but after three coats it looked great. You can see very minor brush strokes, but by no means would I classify it as a streaky polish.
I don’t think this is necessarily a totally unique color, but it’s still really pretty and I love me some dark grey polishes!
This is a really nice collection and it certainly has me thinking about spring. My favorite pieces here are definitely the eyeliner and the Untamed eyeshadow. The lipsticks feel and look really nice and the nail lacquer is very pretty. Unless you are a lover of sheer, shiny lip colors, you might not love the Lip Gelée’s.
What do you think about this collection?
