Chanel Les Perles de Chanel Collection for Spring 2011 Swatches & Review

Les Perles de Chanel Chanel Les Perles de Chanel Collection for Spring 2011 Swatches & Review

Chanel’s new Les Perles de Chanel Le Vernis for spring 2011 features three new limited edition colors, two of which I felt I *needed* to possess.

I thought since these were labeled with the term “pearl” I needed to fancy up my main photo of them so I added a (fake) pearl necklace and some (real) pearl earrings Mr. VV got me for Christmas. icon smile Chanel Les Perles de Chanel Collection for Spring 2011 Swatches & Review

The three colors are:

  • Pearl Drop
  • Black Pearl
  • Péche Nacrée

Pearl Drop

Pearl Drop is a pale white with a shimmery golden yellow finish. I didn’t think much of this one in the bottle at first, but after wearing it (chipped on one finger for three days) I started to really like the color. I love how strong the yellow/gold is making it way more interesting than if it were just a shimmery white.

The formula was really pretty nice with this, less thick and sticky feeling than some of their other colors have been. It is on the sheer side though, I used three coats here and it’s still not completely opaque.

Black Pearl

Black Pearl is a dark charcoal grey with a deep green shimmer. Whenever I say the name of this I feel like I have to say “Yar, Black Pearl she is” like a Pirate. icon smile Chanel Les Perles de Chanel Collection for Spring 2011 Swatches & Review I love how unique this is, I can’t think of another color like it. The deep green shimmer is very apparent also, which is great because if it just barely showed up I don’t think I would like it as much.

The formula of this is similar to Pearl Drop, good consistency and better coverage. This was opaque in two coats and barely any streaks. (My middle nail has a tiny hair in it which is why there is that lump there!)

Overall:

While I didn’t bother purchasing Péche Nacrée (sheer peach with silver micro-glitter) because it didn’t look like something I would want, I love this collection. I think both these colors are unique and have a nice formula. Of the two I think Black Pearl is the definite winner and probably will be a HUGE seller, so get ‘em while they are available if you want ‘em!

What do you think ladies & gents, are these anything you would purchase?

Christmas is over, whew! I am kind of glad, it seemed like tiring madness this year. I got some nice goodies though, some of which I might show on my “Personal” page soon. What was your favorite present this year? Mine was a new white Guess watch covered with clear crystals. icon smile Chanel Les Perles de Chanel Collection for Spring 2011 Swatches & Review

Black Pearl is my favorite of the two. Such a beautiful murky green!

I got Black Pearl for Christmas and it’s A-MAY-ZING! It’s one of those colors that when I wear it I can’t stop staring at my nails.

    • Hi MississippiMama,

I bet you there will be one within a couple weeks from someone!

  • Black Pearl is nice. I think the best thing I received was a fancy set of oil paints. :)

  • I love Black Pearl! I probably won’t spend the money on it though, since they’re even more expensive in my country ($30) and it’s not a total “wow color” for me. But then again – it might not even be available here! You Americans are so lucky when it comes to make up! ;)

I absolutely ADORE Black Pearl! After I put it on, I went ahead and ordered a back-up bottle. That’s how much I LOVE it! It looks just like some of the black peacock freshwater pearls I use when making jewelry :)

I ordered both of these colors last week for the same reason, the “pearl” in the name. I haven’t used them on a full hand but tried them on fingers. LOVED BLACK PEARL! It’s just GORGE! It reminds me of expensive oil painting. Pearl Drop is very dainty and pretty. Definitely a regal color. LOVE YOUR BLOG!

  • I love how Black Pearl and Pearl Drop look on you. They look unique. On me, it looked absolutely common…like I had just dug through my stash and put whatever grey I could find. I definitely did like the formula, though.

On a Chanel side note, a friend dug up her bottle of Brown Sugar and gave it to me…*squees* I had like 3 bottles of that stuff back in the mid 90s. When they dried out I tossed them. I regret doing that. I shall love and worship Brown Sugar when it gets here in the mail.

Hi! I love both of these and purchased them online from chanel.com. I wore Black Pearl the other day and for a couple days, could not stop staring at my nails. It’s actually quite unique, I have nothing else like it in my nail polish stash….

    December 27, 2010
  • Black pearl is unique in my collection I don’t have anything like it. Pearl drop to me looks like a dupe to Zoya’s Gaia. Thought maybe Revlons Go get’em but it has more gold in it.

  • The superstition with pearls is that you should never buy pearls for yourself, they need to be bought for you. I hope that doesn’t go for black pearl, because I’m definitely buying that one for myself.

These are the first chanel polishes I’ve seen where I really just don’t like them. But I can certainly see how others would! They do look good on you.

I bought both online when they came out. I was thinking twice about pearl drop but once i applied it i fell in LOVE!! Both are gorgeous! I saw a swatch of peche nacree yesterday and I had to purchase! =) Does Chanel sell stock by the way? Because I should really consider investing if so!

I don’t know if its a dupe, but wet n wild Morbid looks like its in the same vein. Seems like they have different finishes, though. I’ll have to see Black Pearl in person, but I think the wet n wild is close enough to satisfy my lemming for now. :)
