OPI Burlesque Collection for Holiday 2010 Swatches & Review – Part II

OPI Burlesque1 OPI Burlesque Collection for Holiday 2010 Swatches & Review Part II

OPI Burlesque for holiday 2010 features twelve new colors. I showed you the shimmer ones the other day and today I have the glitter half.

Glitters. What a pain in the arse! I was kind of dreading swatching these because of the removal. Now I am starting to see why some bloggers just show one finger because the removal is so much easier that way!

Ok so now that we established that there are a chore to remove, even under the best of circumstances, we can move onto the colors. They are all pretty cool. A couple I feel like I may have seen similar ones, but most I liked.

All of these were three coats to get the most amount of glitter on the nail, but none are totally opaque. Maybe if you used super thick coats or 4 coats.

Oh and for some reason my camera DID NOT like taking photos of these, so they aren’t my best, sorry. It refused to focus on all four nails at once. Canon-freak-out-over-glitter-explosion-o-rama! icon smile OPI Burlesque Collection for Holiday 2010 Swatches & Review Part II

OPI Bring On The Bling OPI Burlesque Collection for Holiday 2010 Swatches & Review Part II
Bring On The Bling

Bring On The Bling is mainly gold with purple, pink and green glitter. This was one of my favorites I really liked the gold color and the combo of other glitter colors with it.

OPI Extra va vaganza OPI Burlesque Collection for Holiday 2010 Swatches & Review Part II
Extra-Va-Vaganza

Extra-Va-Vaganza is mainly orange with silver, blue, and yellow glitter. I don’t love this one simply because I’m not a huge orange fan, but it could still look cool over black or something dark I think.

OPI Glow Up Already OPI Burlesque Collection for Holiday 2010 Swatches & Review Part II
Glow Up Already!

Glow Up Already! is mostly light green and gold with pink, green and blue glitter. I love this one, it’s just festive and really cool looking. It is a little similar to Rescue Beauty Lounge Locavore, but not a dupe.

OPI Sparkle iscious OPI Burlesque Collection for Holiday 2010 Swatches & Review Part II
Sparkle-Iscious

Sparkle-Iscious is mostly purple and gold with blue glitter. Mardi-Gras. That’s what I think immediately when I see these color combos and I love them. This is my favorite combination here, though I did find the coverage a little more sparse than the others. Again it’s reminiscent of Rescue Beauty Lounge Look Rich, Be Cheap, but definitely not a dupe.

OPI Simmer Shimmer OPI Burlesque Collection for Holiday 2010 Swatches & Review Part II
Simmer & Shimmer

Simmer & Shimmer is a pale blue with blue, orange, pink, silver and purple glitter. The base of this isn’t clear it’s a really light blue, which adds some opacity. Pretty!

OPI Show It Glow It OPI Burlesque Collection for Holiday 2010 Swatches & Review Part II
Show It & Glow It

Show It & Glow It is a magenta/purple with silver, blue and I think yellow glitter. Sometimes it’s really hard to see the colors individually! This is also really pretty.

Overall:

For me the must haves here are Bring On The Bling, Glow It Up Already! and Sparkle-Iscious. The others are nice, but not anything I feel that excited about.

I like glow up already and simmer and shimmer the most. Removal shouldn’t be too much of a nightmare with 100% acetone remover. Would you put these over a solid color, or just leave them as they are?

    October 21, 2010
    • Hi Tiff-Tiff,

100% acetone wreaks havoc on cuticles, I never use it. It’s not that the glitter is that hard to get off, it’s that it gets all over your fingers when removing. You could wear them either way really, over something or on their own if you don’t mind a VNL.

Weee I can’t wait for them to come out in my country :) I really like Show It&Glow It or Simmer&Shimmer, but I’m going with SI&GI as I have a few blues already. Excited for the launch here!!

Regardless of what a pita they are to remove, I will always have a very strong love for my glitter polishes. I actually bought this entire collection, something I haven’t done in a really long time!

We have the same favorites, VV. I got your three favorites plus Extra-va-vaganza too. Surprisingly, Extra-va-vaganza was the first one I wore. It’s a nice burnt orange color for Halloween. You’re right that these are a pain to remove!

I can’t resist sparkle lol. Having seen your swatches, I’m now really looking forward to mine arriving in the post

Bring on the Bling and Sparkel-licious are the two I am going to get. The others are nice, but Not “Must haves” for me. It is a very festive collection and I do really like all the colors!

  • Is it bad that I like all of them?! :) How do you remove these though? Glitter must be getting everywhere!!

  • To tell you the truth, I’m not crazy about any of these… Maybe Show It & Glow It or Extra-va-vaganza

    October 21, 2010
  • This half of the collection really isn’t up my alley, I hate every single one of them. I wouldn’t wear them at all, they’re just too much – and I like glitter. Oh well. Money saved. ;) :D

These are a PITA to remove, so while they are pretty, they aren’t for me. I gave Absolutely Alice, from the Alice in Wonderland collection, to my niece because it chipped very quickly and was a pain to remove.

Hi, u mentioned 100% acetone is bad for cuticles? i always use it to remove any polish becase it takes the polish off very quickly and every single color spot is completly gone with one cotton ball wipe! but anyway, ur swacthes is perfect and ur nail length is the perfect length :-)

    October 21, 2010
    • HI Polisholic,

It can be extremely drying and I never use it. I much prefer ones with smaller amounts of acetone like OPI Expert Touch, Zoya Remove or even non-acetone ones. Some work better than others, but OPI and Zoya’s removers work just as well as 100% acetone and are way more gentle on cuticles and nails and smell good.

I’m loving Bring on the Bling!

Love these! Foil method saved my life when it comes to glitters! And I use just acetone nail polish remover (some people use Zoya Remove+) and it works perfectly! No need for pure acetone. :-)

Great pics! I wore Sparkle-icious over a black creme, and it was gorgeous. Three, or was it four, coats of Show It & Glow It, plus two coats of Seche Vite, while gorgeous, prompted the entire polish “load” to peel off my nails in entire sheets. Small price to pay for eye catching nails. :D

i highly recommend adding “only gold for me” top coat from sephora by opi on ‘sparkle-licious’ and ‘bring on the bling’. i’ve tried it, and it takes it to the next level of glitterati. :]

    October 21, 2010
  • I agree,VV, 100% Acetone has been very drying on my nails as well, however, I have yet to try those other two you mentioned. I am going to try them. Thanks for the recommendation.

As far as these Burlesque polishes and glitters go, I am totally over the moon for all of them. They are all so freaking gorgeous! I especially love Glow Up Already and Extra-Va-Vaganza!

I’ll be buying all of these. They are gorgeous.

    October 21, 2010
  • I was going to buy some of these and the shimmer but I think I’m going to pass on all of them. None of the colors really jump out at me and I’m not really a huge fan of glitters. For me to buy a glitter polish it has to be a super drop dead gorgeous color.

  • Out of these glitters, my favourite is Sparkle-icious because it looks the most cheerful out of the bunch. But I doubt I’ll be purchasing it. I have Mad as a Hatter from the Alice collection and only wore it once.

None of these are calling my name. Actually, I’m not very fond of glitters unless it’s done like in your VV collection. Glitters in a clear base are no-no for me, and these are worse IMO, because of the color combinations.

Thanks for the swatches though. I’m sure many others appreciate them.
